- The resistor of my blower or ventilator broke down of my Vauxhall Astra, time to repair this part. I'm talking about a Vauxhall without airconditioning.
It is easily to repair so i recommend that you will do it by yourself. In this way you will learn about your car for future projects.
So it is the transistor that is broken down. You can find it behind your glove compartment. In this video you can see that only the fourth positioning is working.
I just want to say thanks AGAIN for the information. :-) actually got a unit from another Astra Convertable as the new one was 60.60 euros from the dealer ( and both cars have climate control and the unit works perfectly!!!!!8BUT IT IS REALLY DIFFICULT TO ACCESS!! GOT SOME BLOODY KNUCKLES TRYING TO GET THE SIDE CLIPS OF TO RELEASE THE UNIT!! BUT MY GIRLFRIEND NOW HAS WARM AIR AND I HAVE A VERY GREATFUL GIRLFRIEND::: XX

I was just about to rip the hole mid console out to replace the complete heater control unit. But now I shall try this .as I have exactly the same problem only position 4 works .thankyou so much for the info!!! no one ever mentioned this small replacement fix!!!! Winter is here!!!!!! Thanks again
Don't forget to install those two single wires in the same position otherwise fan run reverse. Nice tutorial pal!

Thank you. My crossland x has fan stop ping prb. Service suspect fan blower resistor. They will order the new one. This will take a month. I would change myself indeed
At least it's not tucked in behind the radio with 2 awkward t20 bolts like on ford focus 👍👍👍
I did a replacement, and smoke started to come from the new one, the old one works fine on speef 4

Hi do you know if the fan works good with with 4 points but when i on my heater the left one it make noise how like a relay and no heating
You can't do this fix if the car has air conditioning? ???
Any tips for getting the black terminal out of the resistor? Mine is stuck in and try as I might I cannot remove it.
Wiggle wiggle and pull? Mine is friction fit, but maybe you can look for a letch?

There is a latch on both sides. Push a shim or small screw driver down both sides

TheJockey1 the plug has a bump on both sides that engages with matching holes on the resistor body. They are moulded into the body of the plug, i think the grey bit is unrelated

I think you need to learn the difference between Repair and Replace...
Well I repaired the ventilator system by replacing the resistor. It also helps in the search query for other people trying to fix theirs.

Well, the resistor is not near the button/switch itself. So to be honest I don't think that it will work in your case.
Unless you mean you have to push the resistor in order to make it work, but that means you're driving without your glove compartment ;-)

I read that this is maybe caused by a blocked pollen filter that will need replacing.

@@lazyoldmanathome7699 is good cars, mine made it to 525000km. Then started with problems. Did not had a single issue with it till then.
