Thanks Wrighty. Mine wasn't working on any of the settings, but your vid gave me the confidence to get in there and have a look. After pulling out the glove box and blower motor, it all started working again, so just had to re-assemble testing as I went. Saved me bundles for a mechanic to do the same thing (and knowing some of the locals - charging me for a new motor anyway...) Cheers
Great replacement so easy, but I found if you use it on hot for long periods the solder gets hot melts and comes away thus breaking contact, then you only get fast fan blower and nothing else, after changing the part several times a year it gets expensive. all I did was to re-solder the connection and Walla no more problems, that was two years ago. and this was from a platinum mechanic. one of the good guys. thanks till a solid state resistor pack comes along for my Opal this is a easy fix.
Excellent post. Based on this video (and DIY in my world means Don't Involve Yourself) I replaced the resistor pack and pollen filter for less than £18.
Thanks I used your guide for my Astra G resistor pack inspection when the blower stopped working on all the settings. Used WD40 on the resistor pack since it looked rusty and now working perfectly. Also changed the pollen filter in the bargain!
You Sir are a genius. Followed your advice to the letter. Wife's car now sorted for £32. Bit more fiddly than your vid describes - found it worth while greasing up the sides of the new resistor block to slide it back in. Not sure where I got this idea from! ;-)
just found this vid mate, well done was thinking of doing one myself. Changed my girlfriends the other day, so easy, vauxhall were going to charge her wait for it, £250, took me 15 mins. Kept the old resistor pack, was actually going to try to find a resistor to fit it this hey presto, when it goes again, swap them over. One problem i now can't find the one i took out, oh well.
You can save a lot of money on a replacement coil pack by replacing the thermal fuse (the silver component under the spring resistors) Its really easy just remove the cover by prising up the 4 pins holding it on then cut the old thermal fuse off with side cutters and solder on a new one. You will prob have to bend the coil resistors out the way but they will go back easily. They cost $1.75 for 5 on ebay from USA. The part is: MICROTEMP G4A00 152C
Logic suggests the thickness of the coils are the opposite way to the way you said. Thin for low poet setting one as less current shooting through to fan, and then middle thickness for setting 2 and thick for setting 3. Thanks for time to show this.
Thanks a lot I've managed to fix it, when taking the fan resistor out u may need to use a little force to yank out the leads, thanks again pal make more videos like this
Top man... Top vid...!! My fan has completely stopped on all settings, so has the switch feed to my radio (took it from ac)....checked the 30a fuse but its ok so now I know where fan and resister pack are located I can do some testing... Cheers mate.
Thank you so much for the video. I change the resistor coil pack and managed to get it working for 5 minutes, and then stop again. What else could be wrong, any expert advise?
Testerd the resistor getting continuity however not getting a reading of 12v when the engine is on. That's means its the resistor right? Also getting contunuity from the motor red and brown cables but then it cuts out. What does this mean if you know?
all my fan speeds work but only intermittently.. when I tap the blower motor they turn back on, or if I leave it they will eventually turn back on once I go over a pothole or a bump. I'm guessing I'll need to change the motor rather than the resistor? I have a corsa D 2008
Mann from man, from where I can source it it's actually coming in from the scuttle panel where it joins with the windscreen. Filled mine will silicone and seems to of stopped it. Give that a whirl!
Thanks a lot dude! saved me a bucket load of cash. I replaced the thermal fuse on the coil pack and cost me next to nothing! Did you dials come with a blue back light or did you do that? looks wicked
great video mate. My astra has had this happen before, the fan seizing up, due to water getting into it on the way down to settling in the footwell. One question I have then, is there anything I can do to stop the water getting in. Is it coming through the pollen filter or what do you think?? Whats the most common cause for it leaking water? Thanks again
my fan works, but the cable doesn't work,(what puts the air around the car, like floor) I think some 1,has had it apart, the heated windscreen works, but the light doesn't come on, could some 1 please help me, cheers
Hi what about if it was working normal then one day it would come on then a few hours later it would go off then come back on when hit a bump now its off and has been off for 3 days what could this be its a mk5 h asta 54 plate club cheers
I have no fan operation on any setting. So not the resistors. Aircon button won't light up unless I have fan switched to 123 or 4 so the switch is being recognised I suppose it's the actual fan next to check. It's a 2009 astravan sportive 150ps with only 45k on the clock I bought it a year ago today with a years warranty.bugger it's 6 pm no guarantee It's a bit young to have a fan issue surely
Brian - check out my part 2 video under Astra H fan/ blower replacement. If your fans are working on 1,2,3 but barely it could be the fan itself seizing up. Dan S - same to you if you have nothing working in any setting.
Thanks for this, saved me heaps. My local Holden dealer wanted $123 for the part and $80 to fit. Next time you're in Australia I owe you a cold one.

Our Holden astra had the same problem. Found this video and saved myself around $300(au). Great piece of work . Thanks mate:)

Thanks for posting this. Fixed my daughter's Saturn Astra (what they call them here in the US) for less than US$50. Keep up the good work!

Awesome job, really clear. I'll be giving this a go as soon as i get hold of a replacement. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

cheers mate best vid ever. my problem ended up being a dodgy wire on blower. ordered and 2nd hand one off ebay for £25 good a gold 👍👍
Great video, saved me some time and money thanks pal.

I got same problem did you sort it and what was it mate? Cheers
Where is the 30a located
cheers pal, saved me a load of grief. got a new one for £8.80 on ebay.
Thank you so much for the video. I change the resistor coil pack and managed to get it working for 5 minutes, and then stop again. What else could be wrong, any expert advise?
Thanks matey, I did this yesterday. Great tutorial. Thank you! Indigo
Nice 1 bud u prob saved me couple euros. Gonna try this first before i go spending bigger money. Hopefully will work. Cheers
thanks a lot dude i have same problem and its very helpful for me

hi just changed risistor as heating stopped working stripping motor out 2moro hope it fives it
Good video mate. Cheers for the help.
Can you just change the thermal fuse/resistor? I remember doing this a few times on Vectra c's over the years
my fan works, but the cable doesn't work,(what puts the air around the car, like floor) I think some 1,has had it apart, the heated windscreen works, but the light doesn't come on, could some 1 please help me, cheers
Awesome video thankyou
Thanks for the vid, helped alot!
Could anyone tell me if it's accessible on a left hand drive version the same way through the glove box?
I can't get the black plug off is there a trick to this
cheers mate good video helped me out
same here only works on 4th setting
Hi what about if it was working normal then one day it would come on then a few hours later it would go off then come back on when hit a bump now its off and has been off for 3 days what could this be its a mk5 h asta 54 plate club cheers
Ohh it dont work on 4 either it dont work on any settings nothing is blowing throug the heating cheers
Is this roughly the same on a 2007 corsa?????
Thanks for the info man.
hw did u change the colour lol i am hatin mine i wanna it to be red can u help plz
excellent video thanks
Thank you
I've replaced this twice, burned out both times and I've also replaced the blower and still no luck. Anyone had this?
There's also a relay in the fuse box, under the bonnet/hood. This can can fail for settings 1,2,3 too, so may well be that, instead of the resister.
i meant the thermal fuse. :-)
I have no fan operation on any setting.

Relay in the fusebox for the blower. This is likely to have failed in all blower settings are not working.
Thx m8
Fan full of water vauxhall very unhelpful & if got it for 1/3 of vauxhall cost from breaker.
That will teach me to leave a 2009 vauxhall in the rain
