Like all reviews should be, i absolutely hate someone reviewing a product but their face have more screentime than the product itself. I dont wanna say names but the initials would be brad colbow.
I appreciate an Android vs. iPhone review that doesn't have that weird, partisan vibe that so many of these comparisons do. You stuck to objectivity. The only reason I don't consider Android options-and I know there are many good ones-is that I'm immersed in the Apple ecosystem and really like how seamlessly everything works together. Great job on the review, Sam.
I feel like they're finally getting a good alternative to "the ecosystem" with the microsoft-samsung pertnership. With things like continuity with the galaxy buds, texting on your pc and a universal clipboard it's not much worse now!
@@kiwieggcreations yes, they've been getting a lot better, but I just switched from Samsung + Microsoft to apple less than an year ago and oh boy, I really cant go back lol, but its amazing to see how much better the Windows - Android ecosystem has been getting especially with samsung.
I was really underwhelmed with all the phone releases this year. Was strongly considering the iPhone 12, mostly for that nice Pacific blue color, but then decided to hold off for the galaxy s22 ultra... But now I might hold off even longer to see what the iPhone 14 is going to be like. At this point, I might just have this s9+ till I die lol
I was going to wait until i saw iPhone 14 as well but by that point, itll be what september? Then youll say ill wait to see the s23 ultra. Itll keep happening. So im just gonna go for the s22+. I dont like the rectangle shape of the s22 ultra
I went from s9+ to Iphone 13pro and its day and night, I am very happy with my choice. I also had my personal iPad before so I am very how the devices work together. Well my experience is for lot of sentences, but generally I am very happy as I said.
@@Filipes737 that's exactly what I'm thinking! I've been using the iPad pro for about a year now and Ive really been liking the OS, especially now that you can have widgets. And getting an iPhone would just enhance that experience. I just don't like the lack of touch ID on the 13, and I liked the 12 pacific blue a lot better, so I'm thinking of just holding off for the 14... Decisions decisions 🤦🏼♂️
As someone who just switched to an iPhone 13 pro max from a oneplus 7t I couldn’t have put it better myself. The few iterative software features really closed the gap and the switch has been far more seamless than I thought it would be
I’ve been using Android phones since I first used a smartphone. A month ago I switched to iPhone 13 Pro as my daily device and couldn’t deny that the experience so far is AWESOME. I agree that Android has more fun but seriously IOS is so smooth and the performance is so optimised to the point that I think this is how a smartphone is supposed to be. Now that I can understand why some of the brands are copying more and more features from IOS. I think I’m gonna stick with IOS
Time for the switch. Done with android. Had enough of consistent lags and jitters in normal usage just within 2 years of usage. However, i love the display on my samsung & content consumption is amazing.
If I use balanced mode, I have like 2-3 hours Screen On TIme MAXIMUM, If I use battery saver mode, apps are lagging... im also planning try out iOs for the first time :D
I currently have an S8+, yet there's absolutely NO lag and stuff. I used to think Androids were super laggy and complete shit around 2015, but now, I barely notice lag. They've gotten a lot more powerful. I don't know if I'll switch to Apple. They have control of just about EVERYTHING, no thanks
@Joelfantastic ASMR Android lags because the amount of phones that use it makes it impossible to optimize it for all the phones it runs on. Therefore, android will probably always be at least slightly laggy. (The google pixel phones are a possible exception because google owns android)
@Joelfantastic ASMR Yeah, the google pixel would only be less laggy if google got their shit together and made android reasonably optimized. I said pixel phones are a possible exception because google could optimize for the phones they make. Highly unlikely though. I have an iPhone 13 Pro, and my last phone (an android) feels like absolute shit in comparison.
Same. I migrated to android after the iPhone 5s and have never looked back since. Until now. I did pick up the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra in the end and honestly the big thing on my list that's still missing from iPhone is fast charging (once you get used to it, you can't go back), but I do think that the iPhone 13 pro max will end up being the phone of the year. Regardless of the new Pixel coming out.
The biggest reason why Apple won't do fast charging is because it greatly effects long term battery health compared to regular/slow speeds. And alot of iPhone users easily use their iPhone for 3-5 years and expect it preform just as well. And trying to explain to the general public that expects the iPhone to last a minimum of 5 years that if they use this feature their phone won't last as long without a battery replacement will just make Apple look bad as most people won't grasp the concept and see it as a money grab. Personally, as a iPhone user & many iPhone users I know don't care about fast charging as we charge our phones at night. I love the MagSafe charger and would take that on my phone over any type of fast charging any day. It is still kinda crazy though that we are seeing Android phones with 60+ watts charging and the iPhone (even the most expensive model : pro max) is limited to around 20 watts.
When you say fast charging, do you mean wirelessly? Because from what I’ve heard about the 13 pro, it can do a wired fast charge of 50% in just 30 mins. It does throttle the final 50% incrementally as it approaches 100% to thwart any impact on battery health. I know for sure that on any Qi charger, it’s capped at 7.5w unfortunately, but on a MagSafe with a 30w brick, you’ll get somewhere in the mid 20’s I believe.
@@happyguy2k 11 pro max had the best battery life on a phone 2 yrs ago and this year's iphone 13 pro and pro max are the phones with best battery life by a long margin. iPhones having low battery life is such a old stereotype
I used to be a huge advocate for fast charging, if a phone had it, I was pleased, but now, Personally, I don't see much of a point of fast charging when your battery can last the whole day. Regular IPhone 13 got around 9-9:30 hours of SOT consistently, imagine the 13 Pro with the LTPO screen. I was actually thinking of picking up the Mi 11 Ultra, but that god awful battery made me hesitant to even upgrade to it. 6-6:30hrs SOR is what I'm seeing from the phone.. I'd rather 9hrs of SOT and 20w charger than 6hrs of SOT and 67w charger. I just don't see the point of fast charging, if your phone can last the whole day, and then charge overnight. I just really wished these companies focused more on optimization than super fast charging. What's the point if you can charge it overnight? It SHOULD last you the whole day.
True... Still can't live with an iphone from my perspective... It is just too closed for me, but I tryed an iphone last year, and I wqs just impressed with the optimisation and the quality of videos on snap and ig...
@@vidpetrovic8907 yup that's true, it's more so as soon as you get past the honeymoon phase on Android of wanting to customize everything in the first week, iOS is a smoother experience day to day use as a tool. And also if Androids came with flagship specs in a smaller form factor like the iPhone 13 pro
Awesome review! I’ve been an iOS user from the iPhone 4 to the 6. And then did android for 4 ish years.with Xperia Z5 premium, and one plus 6T And now I’m back on IOS with the 12 pro max. And the change helped me know that I still prefer IOS to this day even after doing android for a decent amount of time. But I got a better appreciation for both sides.
I'm the same. My first iphone was iphone 4. used that for a while then went to android. Had the Galaxy s7 and s9 then went back to ios with the iphone 7, 8, 11, and 12....currently using the Galaxy z-flip 3 and honestly, I'm on the fence and really thinking of going back to an iphone because while yes it's missing reverse wireless charging or even the fast charging that an android has....That doesn't matter to me because the iphone just always worked and would never have as many bugs that any of my android phones have always had.
I made the switch to an iPhone 13 Pro shortly after launch. My only complaints are lack of USB-C, less personalization, and the notification bars. I look forward to actually getting OS updates for as long as I will reasonably keep the phone (3 to 4 years). I was so burnt out on how awful my Android experience was when it came to support and longevity. I almost got another Samsung in April, but after struggling to find what I wanted at multiple stores, I made the conclusion to just compare my options after the next iPhone reveal. I am so glad that I did.
You sir deserve a thumbs up for having a 21:9 video cropped properly and not just using black bars. Your video looks great on my 21:9 monitor. I know it's not about the content of the video but I figured I'd complement it. All too often do content creators and large companies even make this mistake.
Wow, you actually took the words out of my mouth. I just bought an iPhone Pro 13 Max after not really loving the way the Pixel 6 Pro handles photos and so many of the points you made are what went into my decision making to switch to iPhone for the first time. I've been exclusively using Android phones since the "OG" Moto Droid in 2009. In the past few years Android manufacturers instead of doing stuff to make themselves unique and different to Apple have followed nearly everything they've done. From following their lead on headphone jacks, expandable storage, flagship price blowups, and even software decisions. However Apple in that time has embraced some of things that Android phones did or did well... like remember when it never seemed like wireless charging would make it to iPhones? There's now very few hardware features I can be like "Yeah I really can't live with X".. the lightning port was the biggest downside but with the battery life and wireless charging I'm not really anticipating it being a major issue. I've always admired how insanely smooth, fast, and optimized iOS is. The camera is a great example, I can't remember where I saw it but even on the S21 ultra there is STILL shutter lag. You hit that shutter button and half a second later the photo is taken. There are so many times that my wife (iPhone 11) and me are taking a picture of our cat making a face or doing something funny and by the time my camera launches, takes the pic, I've missed it... even if I actually hit the shutter before it ended.. while the iPhone has a clear, frozen shot. Anyway I kind of think back to the OG Droid's marketing back in 2009 in the US. ruclips.net/video/e52TSXwj774/видео.html - they marketed this phone specifically to be like "The iPhone doesn't do this, this, this, this... we are" it came off as a which really contrasts what Android manufacturers do today, which frankly feels like following Apple. I guess they figure the core Android audience will always be there and the only way to grow market share and revenue is to convert iPhone users but instead of all that following appealing to an iPhone user it just makes it come off as a second rate clone. Even as I thought I'd be buying the Pixel 6 Pro my mind kept going "Man the iPhone Pro is only $100 more...." because they've done so much to make it seem so similar there was some almost subconscious "Why buy that when you can spend a bit more and get the real deal" attitude going on. I'm sure I'll find out flaws and stuff on iOS that will drive me nuts as well and there's a chance I'll be back on Android sooner than later.. I think the one potential silver bullet Android manufacturers have is foldables though. These will eventually be the standard. People want bigger, bigger, and bigger and we're at the normal candybar limit. They're rough now but they're getting closer to being legit options.. and I think it's likely that Apple will drag their feet and not have a foldable iPhone years into foldables taking a sizeable marketshare of new Android purchases.
I feel the shutter button issue. I've been using Samsungs for years because their ads got me. First with the S4, then the S6, then, reluctantly, the S9. I only went with the S9 because I got a great deal and my carrier wasn't selling Pixel phones at the time. While the S9 isn't bad, it's not what I wanted and it's not as smooth as I'd like. When I got the S6 I said "this is what the S4 should have been" (in terms of performance) because the S6 is when Samsung started to remove a LOT of bloat on Touchwiz. I remember running clean android roms on my S4 and it was night and day compared to stock samsung at the time. But I always feel like there's hiccups on Samsung phones; like, they advertise it as flagship specs but their camera shutter has a delay. I could understand that a few years ago but in today's standards that's embarassing, even my S9 does that. I don't use the camera that much but it's these little inconsistencies that will prevent me from buying another Samsung device. I have been eyeing iOS for years, but there's still some features that are lacking for me to switch over (No always on display, no dark mode in Chrome, they still have that HIDEOUS notch) and there are way smoother androids out there so I'll probably try that first.
@@sublime_tv I switched to iOS a while ago. Chrome on iOS has dark mode (I’m not sure if there’s a way to force websites to use dark mode, though; I switched to Safari, which can force websites to use dark mode with extensions), and the notch totally disappears when you use the phone, so it’s really no big deal at all. The notch has two cameras (vs just one on most Android phones) and a bunch of other hardware, so it’s not like there’s a cleaner way to house that hardware near the top of the phone. You’d need two hole punches instead of one (or a large hole punch that may as well be a notch), then fit everything else in the bezel, and I think it would probably be pretty ugly.
@@Patrickdaawsome The way the Pixels seemed to blow out shadows in comparison images. There was one, it was a picture of a flat area with clouds covering part of it, and the other part sunny. The iPhone and Samsung both kept the shadows more realistic to the human eye while the Pixel blew out the shadows completely and you could hardly tell there was shadowy areas - like way over-processed and over HDR'd and super unnatural looking. This was a constant trend in all the comparions I saw, shadows were brought up way too much and it made a lot of pictures just weird looking IMO. The portrait mode was the other reason, in nearly every blind comparison I kept picking the iPhone because of how natural it looked. The Pixel seemed to be the one that struggled or made the most "errors". I realize almost all of this could be fixed with with a software update but I didn't really want to buy a phone with a promise of "Well a software update COULD make it better" when I clearly already liked the photos the 13 Pros were takiing.
I don't think foldables will take over. The fold is such an obvious place to get broken or at least to become ugly, i am not seeing a robust version of that. Maybe foldable phones with hinges and no continual display will get popular.
@@sarathmohan979 I absolutely loved the Pixel. I had the Pixel 2 XL then the Pixel 5. If Google had kept a consistent phone every generation then I might've stayed with Pixel but they didn't. I enjoy the biggest phone size available and using the Pixel 5 for the past year was painful for me. Really wished they had a XL size.
@@dxc thank you. Did the battery hold up okay? Also did the software slowed down over time? OnePlus used to be my go to brand because I like clean OS. Now they are shifting towards color OS. Basically that leaves me with 2 options. Iphone and Pixel. I love the hardware of iphone and software of pixel. So kind of a tough decision for me. Also iphone is freaking expensive where I am from and pixels are hard to find.
@@sarathmohan979 Pixel battery is always so reliable. Can go a whole day and a bit of the next day without charging. It was great when I travelled overseas pre-covid. Pixel 5 battery is the same. The Pixel 2 XL did slow down for me which is why I decided to upgrade. Pixel 6 Pro might have an improved battery thanks to a bigger form factor. The iPhone 13 Pro Max for me at the moment has been doing well so far. Like Sam said in the video, I'm also ending the day with about 60-70% battery with about 3.5-4 hrs of screen time. I know right, Google should release in more markets but it's only limited to certain countries.
Dude, this is the first video I see wich is the perfect formate for my A52! It looks awsome actually using my whole screen, and not just like most other videos a smaller portion of it (16:9)!
Your intro to this video was my exact thoughts on switching to iOS. I’ve been on android for about 10 years and before that I was on windows mobile lol I’ve always steered clear of having iPhones but this year the software and hardware was sooooo damn compelling. On top of that some family members and close friends have iPhones so that made having iMessage and FaceTime worthwhile features. My last Android device was the Google Pixel 4. On the Pixel, I loved the display, cameras, Google assistant, and the machine learning. I used to be heavy into the customization but these last couple of years I just want my phone to work and be reliable. On the Pixel I got really tired of the bad battery life and having to turn off features including the 90hz display and noticed that a lot of the features have comparable features on iOS, for example the gestures and multitasking. I do miss the Google assistant especially when it was helping with spam callers, prescreening unknown callers, and letting me know when I’m not on hold anymore. I miss having trusted devices and locations, especially during the pandemic and having to where a mask. I prefer Android Auto over CarPlay. I don’t like how Google maps and RUclips music work on iOS and CarPlay compared to how it does on android but that’s probably google’s programmers more than it has to do with iOS. But what I do like about the iPhone and what I’m impressed with is the battery life, the camera, display, and no compromises with features to have a days worth of battery. I don’t mind when a notification goes from the quick view to the Notification Center. Face ID has wider integration and works better than Google’s implementation. Safari browser has impressed me very much with the ability to have extensions on mobile. The speakers have been the most underplayed hardware aspects. They are so rich and LOUD. I was watching a show on HBO Max and felt so immersed with the display and stereo speakers. Apple Pay has been a slightly more pleasant experience but nothing major over Google Pay. I’ve always used 3rd party password managers and Authenticators but Apple has Keychain which does both in one at the system level which means no extra apps but I’ve had to do the long process of manually adding all my credentials to Keychain. And lastly I like how widgets work on iOS better lol
Thanks Sam, I'm on the verge of buying my first every iPhone and picking up the iPhone 13 Pro. So to say this video was super helpful is an understatement, touched every point or concern that I have. On that note, I'm going to make the switch and come back with some feedback.
For me personally, getting an iPhone wasn't even an option before I could have more than 60hz. Got the 13 pro a couple weeks ago as my first iPhone though, and I must say it is smooth but there are still features I miss from android.
@@abelthomasmathew153 it's doing fine. I am currently using sidestore so sideloading apps works quite smoothly. Only drawback is I am limited to 2 custom apps and I have to open the sidestore app once a week to refresh the apps. Hopefully iOS17 allows me to sideload as many as I want though. Other than that it's doing solid. Rarely lags, quick at opening camera, 120hz is still awesome. Battery is mid however, but it's good enough to last a full day, just cannot do two.
I’m a 5 year long Samsung user and this week my iPhone 13 pro Max Will be delivered. Reason I switched the apps I mostly use aren’t working as they should on my s10+ and do work better on my iPad Pro that’s 2 years older. Also Apple devices are longer supported and beter than Android devices.
Great video! I've used iphone since the first and, 4 years ago moved to android. Really like the fun of customization but i always felt the iphone works better. Switched back to the 12 pro max some months ago and really like it.
Switched from android to iphone 4 yrs back. No matter how many gigs they add to any flagship phone android ends up lagging eventually. Btw have used android for over 7 yrs. Honestly the customization and all that mumbo jumbo on android is just not for everyone and a complete battery drainer. Just love the fact how ios stays smooth as butter even after 4 yrs and regular updates is a bonus. Love my iOS devices
Great video, I just returned to android after 10 years on ios. I love the change but agree they are getting more alike. If Apple would make an iPhone with a large screen that wasn't a pro model or with a camera that most of us don't need, it would be a great affordable device they could sell for $500. With android you have so many options with affordable devices.
@@supriyagadekar4636 they are selling iPhone 11 for $500. Apple still sells their older phones and tons of people still buy them due to their lower price and long longevity. The iPhones I currently see people switch to the most is the XR and 11. People don’t care how shit the phones are compared to more recent phone, they just need a cheap iOS device that isn’t the SE.
switched to ios after 10years in android, missing a couple of customization but I gotta say I m very impressed by the build quality and performance so far, except for the macro camera part XD
Same here, first time iphone user since the launch of smartphones. Gotta admit, comparing to my recent android phones with the highest specs, apple is smooth as fuck.
I came from 8 years of Android, HTC One, Note 4, Nexus 6P, Pixel 2 XL, and I recently made the switch to iPhone 13 Pro. I can safely say Ive been really enjoying it and love just about everything about it, though I do miss Google's call screening and spam call handling :)
I upgraded my Wife's iPhone 8+ to the 13 Pro & she was blown away! She's always used to carrying around a portable charger for her 8+. No need for the 13 Pro, she's getting 10hrs & 54min On Screen Time! She doesn't use 5g, or care about the cameras or refresh rates. Great to have but I own a 2yr old Note 10+ and I really don't notice the refresh rate difference & my 10+ is still a beast in Oct. 2021.. I'm kinda the same as my Wife, don't care for Camera's, refresh rates or 5g. LTE is plenty fast for me at over 120Mbps. Now days phones are lasting longer & longer. So I'm waiting for the 14 Pro Max if we get a complete redesign from Apple & the Notch is gone.. If not, I'll stick with Samsung. I'm really surprised my 1st Android device was this Note 10+ & I haven't had a single hick-up in over 2yrs
It's definitely got some credit, but I'm staying with Android. To me it seems like you actually own your phone using all of the easy to use and deep, intuitive customization that may even just help you learn more about software if you even feel like delving that deep. The way I see it, your phone is a computer, might as well treat it like one.
@@sanjgadhvi3987 I personally have a galaxy s10 cause it was cheaper with basically the same features as new flagships - plus One UI has a lot of productivity features that aren't on stock Android yet. Bloatware will continue to be a problem for me until after Android 12 comes out and is able to be rooted, though.
Best review ever, and no droid heads or ios fanboys that will try to fight you. I see it exactly the same ad you. But yeah the pixel 6 will have comparisons out soon and the samsung s22 Ultra in February, so until then . I held an iphone 13 today and I really like it,I think the the look and feel caught me,it was really nice. Yet I am afraid to loose my customization and I am a power user as far as tinkering on a phone is concerned, I love my truck load of multitasking features and the back gestures so let's see what the pixel and the samsung does next
I used to prefer android but I just switched to iPhone and I can’t leave now. I switched the rest of my ecosystem (computer, headphones, etc) and it’s soooooo much better. Things just work so well together The iPhone cameras are more fun and consistent than I’ve used on any android phone and I love the video but I agree with your opinion of aggressive telephoto/digital zoom switching
I'm amazed by your comment section. Everyone share their thoughts respectfully. Some agree, some disagree but there is no hate here. What an amazing community you've created.
I have both Android and iOS devices, both of them are doing great. Both have their pros and cons and you will come to love both if you only have time using them for a long duration.
I come from the same perspective. Last time I had an iPhone was the 4, I've been big on Android ever since. I upgraded from a Note 9 to a 13 Pro - and I pretty happy so far. Apple has come a long way - but I can still see myself switching back after having this for a couple years, so far that is.
Same here as well. Ive always been a galaxy guy since the s2 but i finally make the switch and as much i used to dislike iphones i am pretty happy with the switch.
Same boat I’ve gone from Samsung S3, S7, S9 and just to change it up a bit I’ve gone the iPhone 13 Pro Max. I do really miss being able to customise my phone along with more consistent notifications but I am very impressed with the battery life and cameras they are the best I’ve ever seen on a phone. I’m currently still deciding if I want to stick with it but even if I do decide to stick to iPhone my next phone in 3 years will be android. The operating system on this i have gotten used to now but wouldn’t consider it better than android.
I switched from android to ios after 10 maybe 11 yrs of being android user and I personally have no complaints. I’ve used flagship android phones since 2010 and I can honestly say I’ll miss my galaxy phones but I’m lovin my new iphone
Anyone who talks aboit customization on phones these days are legitimately not a busy person or never outgrow their younger self because as an adult with bills to pay you have less time designing your phone. You just want it to work, iOS is better in making simple apps and heavy ones work
I have been an Android user for about 10 years, and this weekend I switched cold turkey - traded my S21 Ultra for a 13 Pro Max. Zero transition. It took several hours getting setup, organized, and settled, and I am still figuring things out. There are some annoyances, and notification handling is terrible. But I also feel, because of the closed ecosystem, everything seems to work better - comparing the same apps, the iPhone app is feels better, and even has improved, or even additional, functionality. I do have to admit, being able to tie in my Google account has also helped (contacts, email, photos, files...). So far, so good. No regrets.
Bitcoin investment is great unlike the stock market and other financial Bitcoin has no centralized Iocation since it's operates 24 hours a day in different parts of the world
The iPhone`s back and forward button is just a swipe from the edge. I wish every app on Android was just as so. As the Android now provide support for swipe gestures, just as iOS
Just made the switch from Android to iOS and my main takeaway is that Android feels like the customization OS and Apple feels like the QoL OS, since everything just seems to work flawlessly and as you said "buttery smooth". So far I'm missing some keyboard customization I had on Android but its nothing compared to the everything else
I've been using android phones ever since I own a smartphone, and also after almost 8, if not 10 years, I will be switching to iPhone 13 Pro this year. I felt this is a year I should give myself a try with iOS, as android phones I've used, even if it's flagship during the moment, still doesn't hold up nicely after a period of time. Things like apps optimization and especially the camera's video function, just throws me away every time. I'm loving iPhone's video capability, seriously. And the way they handle apps and games optimization is just nice. Perhaps this will be my first step into Apple's ecosystem, or a lesson to teach myself with, we'll see.
I am a hardcore Android user, but: What I only love in iOS is the flawless hardware-software optimization and the silky smooth experience in it plus the simplicity. The Android experience depends on the hardware itself and the options it has. The drawback in iOS is that it does not let you use the phone solely which means it controls you, not the other way round like Android. Plus, the overpriced products from Apple are insane to get the "eco-system" thing which means you pay over 50% more of the price just for the eco-system thing. Bottom line, If the Android phone has a flawless user experience like iOS users then it will be a killer phone that no one will produce.
the main argument might not be "which phone/OS is better?" - If you ever start to use an iPhone and then buy more Apple products and get lured into this expensive but beautiful golden cage... you don't want to leave anymore. The true beauty is how everything just perfectly works together over many years. you don't have that consistency with any other OS or manufacturer
This is very true, the iPhone itself is impressive but the true greatness comes from the fluidity in the ecosystem, from Apple Watch to AirPods to macs, everything is just so smooth together
not a walled garden or prison. It's a sensible decision to move to an integrated well-maintained neighborhood than living in a slum with every freedom in imagination but without functional law/social system
I switched from iOS to Android around 2015 because of the advent of material design and excitement about Android and its much stronger level of customisation compared to iOS at the time. Earlier in 2021 I ended up switching back to iOS full time after all these years, as Android has gotten more restrictive (in customisation like you mentioned, and also with other annoyances such as SafetyNet I've had to deal with working around). And yeah, iOS has gotten a ton better in the last few years and personally I've found Android has regressed in some ways, especially since Oreo. I'm kinda excited for what's in store in the future from iOS as well, as it's gotten so good. I still wish Apple would go USB-C on the iPhone, though.
Absolutely agree - as a long time user two things are missing - always on display that shows my battery percentage (c'mon this is an easy one Apple) and USB-C. Everything else in the Apple ecosystem has already transitioned to USB-C and the iPhone is the only straggler - 2022 iPhone HAS to move to USB-C!
@@Vysair They will mostly go wireless because according to EU if they are providing a charger then it should be USB type C,so apple wont provide a charger

I liked the battery and camera, they are really good. Ultimately I returned the iPhone, to many missing features and moving apps and file manger where a pia. Back to my Note 10 plus.

Anyway great video cheers & peace ✌️
Long time android user here that just switched to iPhone 13 Pro. I’m mostly enjoying my experience so far. My top 3 gripes are the keyboard, certain customization aspects, and lightning. The stock keyboard is pretty good. But not having the ability to toggle a dedicated number bar up top, or long press to add punctuation just makes me crazy. Customization wise I really only dislike the ability to not turn off certain features, like “suggested” or “recently added” in the App Library. Or not being able to move the search bar from the left most screen to my Home Screen as a widget. And finally, lightning. Why Apple? Why did my new iPad Mini come with USB C, but my iPhone has lightning??? Honestly I use MagSafe 99% of the time just to not have to fumble around with which cable is which in the dark…
I am also thinking of switching from Pixel Phone to 13 Pro Max, you can get the G Board for ios although it doesn't have all the features of the Android version, and lack of USB C is almost a deal breaker, but I hadn't thought about your other points of the app suggestions or recently added feature. I may be setting myself up for disappointment.
Pull down on the lockscreen for instant search on any home screen page. No widget necessary. You can download a new keyboard just like on Android, and never use the stock one if you'd like. If you don't like the App Library, just put an app on the homescreen and use that, or use spotlight to immediately pull it up. The whole point of the app library is that it learns how you use your phone and changes to anticipate what you need. If you want consistency, put it on your homescreen, or search. Lightning has been around for some time now, and there are many more cables out there than you'd think that would be thrown away if they suddenly switched to usb c. I'm assuming they introduced Magsafe to facilitate the change over to induction based charging for all platforms, as induction charging using a universal standard (Qi) is much less likely to change radically than a data/charge combination port.
@@gl3832 They didn't sell me anything bud. I have always been a Qi charger user on Android. But my Qi charger that I STILL currently charge my android on doesn't charge at anywhere near the rate that the Magsafe does. If you've ever bought or upgraded a Qi charger before your point is totally invalid.....
Been following tech channels on RUclips for ages and reluctant to join new ones.. get stuck in a routine etc. But this video is the most informative iPhone 13 review I've seen. I'm subscribing because the quality is excellent and I learned a lot I hadn't seen from 8 other videos from bigger channels. Excellent work 👍
iPhone still missing USB-C, touch ID. Blocking and deleting SMS on iOS is a major chore where it takes 6-8 clicks vs 1-2 on Android. Adding local songs / music to iPhone requires syncing to a PC with iTunes, instead of drag and drop or wireless file share. iPhone still has a ways to go to catch up to Android.
The fact that widgets are available on iPhone now are the only reason I'm finally considering switching. I've never had an iPhone so I'm excited to see if I'll like it.
Moved from the S21 Ultra to the 13 Pro. Quite enjoying it if I'm honest. Few absolutely basic things iOS is missing which it really shouldn't in 2021. But it's a great device.
I switched from an s21 to the 13 pro and just had to switch back to my 21. I felt for what i paid for with the iphone it should have those basic features i got with my galaxy. So disappointed because I really did like the iPhone but couldn't overlook those features it lacked that I was so used to
Wow, surprised to hear that Android has gotten more restrictive in what customization you’re allowed to do. That was one of their biggest selling points
I've been an Android user for years and used to tweak everything on my phone, installed custom ROMs and all that. I haven't felt the need to do that since my teenage years. Give me a stable phone that works well all the time and I'll be super happy. With android, you may or may not get that. It's a gamble every time, and I've never really had an Android phone that was reliable after 2-3 years. I've always bought flagships, too. I'd give iPhones a try, if I don't enjoy it, I can sell it. iPhones even retain their value for longer so you can get a bigger chunk of your money back when you sell it.
i switched to the iphone 13 pro, from my galaxy s10, and it'll be 4 years since i dailied an iphone, can't say i regret it at all. the 120hz refresh rate is nice, the app optimization is even better, the camera's slap harder than my mom. and it's just overall a good investment for everything a modern phone should be.
It's crazy on how much control apple have over your phone. Even in the app library, they decided where your apps goes. You barely could change anything.
👍 my brother-in-law, is an avid apple enthusiast, I'm an Android user since my very first phone, love the customisation of the Android screens, the customisation of apps and wallpapers, how it handles screen keyboard having numbers and letters together, got an apple tablet during lockdown for facetime, and I like the live photo, took the plunge, got myself a 13 pro max for holidays later this year ... 🤨
I have been an Android user for over 12 years. Recently, I have bought the iPhone 13 Pro. After almost a week, I decided to give it as a gift and return to the Android ecosystem. iOS is way behind Android regarding customization. You can't even move an icon to an empty space. You cannot switch 2 icons between them. When you move an icon, all the neighboring icons move too. It is so frustrating and annoying. I have found over 30 things that I could do on Android and not on iOS. Hardcore Apple fans told me that those are "features, not bugs". Makes me laugh :) Only good thing about iOS is that is is a little more reliable, considering the fact that the apps are made for like 10-15 phones, unlike apps for android that have to work with thousands of phones with different hardware.
It's absurd. You can't customize notification sounds either. If you try to do things in a different way, apple wants to be as obtrusive as possible. Can't change default maps app for siri, can't text from windows, etc.

FINALLY! This is super helpful because we have kids and pets at home. We need our phones to be quick to capture family moments and still have amazing quality. Almost no one does that nowadays. they just regurgitate/rephrase the spec sheet.
We appreciate you making that sacrifice to give us this review. 😆 I just can't do it. After watching your previous video on customization on your iPhone 13, I just feel like customization is simpler on Android. Apple has done a great job in adding features for customization. But the steps are much more complex than the average iPhone user is used too. Geeks like us on here would take the time to learn how. They have a lot of catching up to do get to Samsung's level with Good Lock and all inclusive tools like Nova Launcher and KLWP.
@@jaygold14 Haven't been having any issues. I do custom builds and do about 3 per week for others. I guess you should reach out to Nova Launch with your concerns. IDK my friend.
I was a lifelong android user till iPhone 13 pro max. It was a best decision I ever made, compliments my MacBook very well. Continuity and handoff features are awesome I do miss icon customization like android, but, overall iOS is bloody awesome
This is probably the most objective and neutral iphone from an android perspective video I’ve seen Same with the comments Usually comments on these vids are a warzone
There was a time when ios was miles ahead and polished, but now I would say that both platforms are very good, it’s just a personal preference, sure there’s more flexibility and customisation with android but then we have better simplicity and security on ios, simply choose the one that suits you better.
This entire sentiment is how I feel! Always a Android user, dipped into iOS with the first gen SE, and thought it was a great device for the price...since then nothing attracted me. Using a Oneplus 5t that ran rings around the Apple phones of the time. BUTTT I've felt the shift since iPhone 12...so much so i bought one for my wife. Thinking the 13Pro is a near perfect device though...its kinda calling me. Trying to find an Android to change my mind...but to no avail
I had the same feeling you had about iOS for Android. I see them coming closer to each other but rather than iOS catching up to Android, its Android catching up to iOS for me. I used to be an Android user and never thought Id switch but after winning an iPhone in a giveaway, I have sticked to it ever since. My work phone is Android though due to most of my employees wanting to use Android, so I am used to both and both are great operating systems with their own little flaws.
120hz was really hard for me to notice at first even when I was looking for it & comparing it to my old phone so I was kinda disappointed because that was the reason I upgraded from the 12 to the 13 Pro but after using it for a few hours, the battery dropped to 20% and low power mode turned on & I was like “ wtf why did it suddenly get so laggy “ Ended up creating a shortcut so low power mode never turns on, the tech reviewers were right, once you go 120 you can’t go back
@@Mo-landro I can get my 13 Pro Max to last 3+ days with 120hz enabled, though I usually use it fairly lightly. These phones have top notch battery life.
yea that's super annoying when people reply to message chains that are already going on one phone, no longer show up on the other phone. Which causes you to miss a lot of texts.
Every iPhone I've owned, after almost exactly a year, the battery life has gone to utter crap. I've had my Note 10+ for almost 2 years and only in the last month or so have I noticed battery issues. I'm still very torn on which phone phone go with next, especially because they are such expensive investments.
@Joelfantastic - Amateur ASMR No fam. It's true. iPhone got shet battery reliability, only people that don't use the iPhone much have a good battery. And the display since OLED regresses very fast. You don't get burn-in, but you lose a lot of brightness. My GF her iPhone X display is so bad. Also grey-colors and dark colors are all wrong now. And a bit blurry. Sad part is that Apple does not give a free new display. Samsung does replace your display for free. Apple=bad warranty.
Can’t believe this is the first time the alto has blessed me with your beautiful content holy, this video is so satisfying, the aesthetics, transitions& the music goodness man, this shit is Sensational
I have been android user all my life then I decided to switch to iPhone 11 Pro Max couple years back. I do not regret the decision a single bit. I was done with customizing my phone honestly when you have a full time job last thing you want is to play with your phone. With iPhone I found every single apps just run smoother and flawlessly than android. I remember android some apps will always have weird lags and scrolling issues that I hated. Also I feel privacy is taken much more seriously with IOS than android. I have been able to take more control of targeted ad settings etc which I appreciate. Finally not to mention how iPhone just seamlessly sync with your Mac book which I have. Oh btw I have had my phones for two years and I do not notice any slow down which I had experienced with androids
Loved your video! Man, this is such a brutal choice for me... I have been using a Pixel 2 XL for four years now, and definately wanted to buy the Pixel 6 Pro. However, recently my wife and I got a MacBook Air M1 and we fell in love with it. Now I am torn between getting iPhone 13 Pro Max and having a seamless workflow or getting the Pixel 6 Pro and having to deal with two systems. I don't want to feel trapped in the closed Apple universe though. Cool moustache btw 💪
I think that you should buy something you like more. if you like ios and the phones more then buy it. if you like the way google built android then buy the pixel 6 pro(its out now). if you cant decide then try making a graph and listing things you like about them. and then what you think will be more beneficial to you. buy it
The pixel 6 phones have had some major issues from what I've heard (their new in house chip has a few issues), so I would probably go with the iPhone or a different android. The Pixel 7 might might bring enough refinements to fix the troubles that plague them, though.

Still a very expensive switch tho sadly

I'm in the same boat
Phone upgrades are underwhelming when you have them I find. I only swapped when my phone couldn't hold a charge (couldn't get the bat replaced)
The few iterative software features really closed the gap and the switch has been far more seamless than I thought it would be
thats a huge jump
This was a great vid, man. First one I’ve seen from you and it’s an instant ‘subscribe’ from me. Nice work!
made the switch on the iphone 12 and its been the best thing iv done, i was in android for 15 years! i wont go back now.
Just say ios looks pleasing to the eye
this guy is the only person that says good things about iPhone whilst being on Andriod

True now all we need to do is find a iPhone user that does the same 🤔

Author of Widgy here. Thanks man for using my app 🥰
The battery alone is why it will be and I'm an android guy
Migrated to Android since the iPhone 5, now I'm back on the 13 pro and it's leaps ahead in optimization
And then did android for 4 ish years.with Xperia Z5 premium, and one plus 6T
And now I’m back on IOS with the 12 pro max.
Pure curiosity, what don't you like about the Pixel 6 Pro's camera?
Recently made the switch back to iPhone after 5 years with the Pixel and I must say, no regrets. The iPhone 13 Pro Max is great.

@@sarathmohan979 I absolutely loved the Pixel. I had the Pixel 2 XL then the Pixel 5. If Google had kept a consistent phone every generation then I might've stayed with Pixel but they didn't. The iPhone 13 Pro Max for me at the moment has been doing well so far. Like Sam said in the video, I'm also ending the day with about 60-70% battery with about 3.5-4 hrs of screen time.
As a long time android guy considering switching to iOS this was super helpful. Lots of good points. Thanks 👍🏻

For me personally, getting an iPhone wasn't even an option before I could have more than 60hz. Got the 13 pro a couple weeks ago as my first iPhone though, and I must say it is smooth but there are still features I miss from android.
its been 7 months hows your iphone holding upto your old android?
@@abelthomasmathew153 it's doing fine. I am currently using sidestore so sideloading apps works quite smoothly. Only drawback is I am limited to 2 custom apps and I have to open the sidestore app once a week to refresh the apps. Hopefully iOS17 allows me to sideload as many as I want though. Other than that it's doing solid. Rarely lags, quick at opening camera, 120hz is still awesome. Battery is mid however, but it's good enough to last a full day, just cannot do two.
The cinematography is even better than the professional launches and introductions or even hollywood movies. Love the minimalism

I'm really surprised my 1st Android device was this Note 10+ & I haven't had a single hick-up in over 2yrs
why upgrade when you dont even care about the phones features

It's definitely got some credit, but I'm staying with Android. To me it seems like you actually own your phone using all of the easy to use and deep, intuitive customization that may even just help you learn more about software if you even feel like delving that deep. The way I see it, your phone is a computer, might as well treat it like one.

You just want it to work, iOS is better in making simple apps and heavy ones work
this is the truth indeed
No regrets.

Exactly. Android is just much more user friendly
I am a hardcore Android user, but:
What I only love in iOS is the flawless hardware-software optimization and the silky smooth experience in it plus the simplicity.

I just switched to iPhone 13 pro max after more than 10 years of using android and I’m not going back. iPhones are🔥🔥🔥
Long time android user here that just switched to iPhone 13 Pro.
Congratulations, they sold you magsafe too 👍
@@gl3832 😂😂😂😂apple controls these people's pockets it's frightening at this point.
This is the most genuine android vs iOS review ever 🔥🔥, and where did you get those wallpapers from 😭
iPhone still missing USB-C, touch ID.
Please give links to your wallpapers. They’re amazing!
The fact that widgets are available on iPhone now are the only reason I'm finally considering switching. I've never had an iPhone so I'm excited to see if I'll like it.

As an android user
I like to decide how I want phone to be and how to customise my phone
On IOS side of things, everything is decided by apple itself.

I used to be an Android user and never thought Id switch but after winning an iPhone in a giveaway, I have sticked to it ever since. My work phone is Android though due to most of my employees wanting to use Android, so I am used to both and both are great operating systems with their own little flaws.

120hz was really hard for me to notice at first even when I was looking for it & comparing it to my old phone so I was kinda disappointed because that was the reason I upgraded from the 12 to the 13 Pro but after using it for a few hours, the battery dropped to 20% and low power mode turned on & I was like “ wtf why did it suddenly get so laggy “
Ended up creating a shortcut so low power mode never turns on, the tech reviewers were right, once you go 120 you can’t go back
Thats why i personally dislike the idea of 120hz on phones

Since you're jumping back and forth, are you leaving iMessage disabled while on iPhone so switching back won't mess up messaging once back on Android?

My iPad and boredom with android helped me switch to iOS. iPad iPhone Apple Watch and Alexa in the home and everything is just seamless and fluid.
Every iPhone I've owned, after almost exactly a year, the battery life has gone to utter crap. I've had my Note 10+ for almost 2 years and only in the last month or so have I noticed battery issues. I'm still very torn on which phone phone go with next, especially because they are such expensive investments.
@joelfantastic my last iPhone was the 7, so I'm hoping the batteries have improved since
@Joelfantastic - Amateur ASMR No fam. It's true. iPhone got shet battery reliability, only people that don't use the iPhone much have a good battery.
Do not forget micro SD card which isn't available for iOS. But the killing feature is ADO.
MicroSD is a deal breaker for me too!
Literally THIS!!!
I think that you should buy something you like more. if you like ios and the phones more then buy it. if you like the way google built android then buy the pixel 6 pro(its out now). if you cant decide then try making a graph and listing things you like about them. and then what you think will be more beneficial to you. buy it
If you have macbook then definitely iPhone
The pixel 6 phones have had some major issues from what I've heard (their new in house chip has a few issues), so I would probably go with the iPhone or a different android. The Pixel 7 might might bring enough refinements to fix the troubles that plague them, though.
I’m a Samsung fan boy and for the first time I ordered the 13 pro max 3 weeks ago and I’m still waiting for it hopefully I like it. 🙏🏾
