This is honestly my favorite moment, however, it's honestly something that terrifies me, the moment "games as a service" *really* started to take off, when this downwards spiral of the industry happened.
I only came to know the Portal series through Portal 2 years after it was released, but Portal 2 became my favourite game of all time and watching this announcement and the trailer (especially the music) still gives me chills. :)
Only now did I notice that if you pay attention to the way Gabe talks about Video Games changing from a Product to a Service that it dawns on me that all the game developers/publishers where planning way before to make games services rather than great products. I recently watched a few game announcement videos from 2009-2012 and they all showed the signs of Games as a Service.
