It’s amazing - one year in from this and Microtech has demolished the world with their upgrades to their OTF’s. The new Ultratech just announced on 6/6/2024 has 4 Torx body screws, one large T30 for the new milled titanium pocket clip with silicone carbide ball, the new dual fuel two spring system that is 80% easier to actuate and something no one does at $300 ish dollars - zero blade play - absolutely crushing everyone’s expectations. I love when a company adds premium materials, enhanced actions and now something you have to pay over $1,000 for, zero blade play!
Just got my first one. Very impressed with the spartan blade its a beauty. Not so impressed with the action. It is very stiff and after 2 weeks it has relaxed a bit but is still by far the hardest to operate of my 6 otfs. (Its been air blowed and rem-oiled plenty.) I really think it just needs to break in, but it's far from fidget fun right now. Also I think it's a bit small. I'm surprised they don't make something between this and the Combat Troodon. I'd loved to see this same knife about 15-20% larger.
Got one of these coming soon. Had to treat myself. Just a bit concerned about the sharpness out of the box but really like the magnacut. I wish it was a single edge as well, but I doubt I will be carrying it heavily and it will probably just be my $300 fidget knife for now.
The only thing i dont like about this knife is the light yellow color of the switch to engage the blade i wish they would have made it in different varietys or some other color
Ive had mone for about 3 hears and put it through hell at work. Has yet to let me down. Holds an edge forever, and even when it dulls you can send it in for sharpening for free.
It's a pretty standard factory edge. They aren't utilizing magnacut to its fullest for sure. Idk if the opening thing is more common on these, but it can be fixed with air duster followed by rem oil.
Weird. You cut yourself using a fighting knife to cut rope. I typically carry a Benchmade Proper to go with this knife. The Ultratech has one purpose, knife fighting. You wouldn't get mad at your Lamborghini because it's no good for a run to Home Depot.

Blade sharpness is always paramount to me.
I’m the guy who sharpens Xacto knife blades, because they aren’t overly sharp.

Just ordered mine with the black coated D/E blade and hardware.

I just ordered the utx70 model! I hope i like it. Itll be my first OTF
It's a little small 🤷 I'd rather have the 85 if anything but again I'm not made
I fot the ine with the serrated back so it is really easy to remember not to
It still should be razor sharp regardless
ive seen many reviews mentioning this model was very dull and hard to open
can you confirm?

Yes, I can confirm as I bought 1 and it was as dull as a butterknife

Very interesting, now please stab cans of Arizona tea.
This gives me an idea.
The blade waggle , seems nobody talk about it .
