Hi Emma! When I did my first shopping at the supermarket in Sydney, I couldn't hear "Do you need a receipt?" at the cash register. Hi Chie! It's so funny isn't it, when even the smallest phrase just goes over our heads! Hello I am from Pakistan and big fan of yours . I have question that how much time does it take to be comfortable at listen ing English like I have to effort to understand someone's English especially native speakers . How much time will it take to be fully comfortable at listening if I listen to movies , interviews etc everyday . please guide me
Thank you for the five listening skill improving tips. What I found effective, and I practice it for some time, is to write what you hear technique. To do this my aid is the "One-minute World News" on the BBC News homepage. There one can listen to three or four short recent news in one minute, each is two or three sentences. I choose one of the news, listen to it, rewind and listen to it again, reduce the speed if needed, and write down what I've understood. If there were words I couldn't get, I try to deduce them from the context. There is no subtitle option. I recommend it to everyone!
What a pleasant coincidence it is! I just thought about watching without subtitles earlier today, which is your fifth formula. Kinda frustrated that opportunity is inadequate over here but your videos are boosting me as always, Emma ❤.
Something that I really fear is not understanding what others are saying because ( the same things you mentioned), they speak too fast, use words that are out of my vocabulary or they don't speak clearly. Hi Emma, how's it going? Thanks for sharing these great five tips with us, they are very useful IF WE APPLY THEM. In my particular case, I'm watching my favorite movies and series with subtitles. So that way I enjoy what I do and I improve my listening. Thanks for everything Emma. You're the best!!!
Dear Emma, as for me I think the main challenge when it comes down to listening is the diagnosis or recognition of the voice. Sometimes I assume something else instead of the real voice or data. Thank you so much for everything you're the best. Sincerely your's Mohammad Reza.
Thank you Emma, I have learnt something new. I think learning to write what you hear is an incredible way to learn fast, and how you explained it is really helpful. Thanks!
Hi Emma! I use your lessons when I study and practice my English, especially my pronunciation. They help me a lot! I tried to listen to Ted Talks. Some of them are really difficult to understand because of so many new words and expressions, linking, reduced forms. But I don't give up and continue listening to different audio on RUclips. As you said, it's definitely is going to be something that pays off in the long term.
Hey Emma, i 100% agree with all those top 3 reasons for not getting what others are speaking to you. Also, i already use some of the tips u have mentioned today like watching without subtitles, reading, and listening at the same time. But, the TED TALKS tip was the new one for me. Hi Hope you are healthy Nice and perfect lesson I really thought i had to watch movies etc by subtitles although i wasn’t happy with it based on written words understood the whole movie but in other hand I didn’t watch or remember its scenes Now with your teaching I feel better in watching and listening to the different accents , in persian we say our English accent smokes and puffs out because we have mixed all pronunciations in a new English accent that is “ finglish “ ( farsi-english) i hope with your lovely teaching reach a steady and exact accent 🙏🌹
Emma, i used to watch your videos without subtitles, as i can follow your talk. But it's not the case with movies. I cannot fully grasp what is being said there!! Anyhow i will try the tips you gave here. I find it quite helpful & interesting. Thanks Emma 🙏🙏❤❤🌹🌹

Hello Emma, I am preparing for PTE exam for Australian immigration process so lately I am searching on the internet to improve my speaking, writing, reading and listening skills to pass my exam with great numbers. In addition, so today I just saw your video and I realised that what a right time to view this video because it will help me a lot to improve my listening skills from general point of view and also which I can apply the same techniques for my listening part of the exam. BTW 'Write what you hear' technique is the best of all. You are the real saviour of my life. One request can you please make a video in the same way for speaking, writing, and reading skills also. Oh I forgot to say as in the video you mentioned about really good Ted Talks link but I can't find it in the description so can you please paste the same links in the reply.
Thanks alot teacher, I think all your tips and advices are very great and helpful, congratulations for this video, Ill hope your next video to learn more.
I can understand some words but not very well and i also watch videos with subtitles so i think i am exactly the person that you are talking to i will do all these tips it's very useful for me and thank you @mmmenglish
I'm not from an english speaking country and it's hard for me to speak english or listen. But the real challenge is the fact my brain is so slow and can't process information quick enough to get what people are saying, they always say way too fast for my brain to process words those came out of their mouths. The same problem with doing tests at school, even simple math questions like 6+7 took me more than 10 second to calculate. I'm grade 10 right now and my brain ability to process is still bad like I'm still at Grade 1-3
Don' t translate everything you're listening to. Just let your brain relax and he"ll do the work. What I mean is, try not to translate every word you hear. You can understand a phrase just by recognizing one or three words. That"ll help you for now.
Hi Emma! Thanks for this lesson!🌷💕In my opinion the most difficult thing of listening is fast-talkIng native speakers especially when some words are put together as if they turn into one long word that I have never heard.
@@mmmEnglish_Emma Thank you for your feedback 😍💛 I do appreciate it! Yes, that's exactly what I meant. Yes, I've watched your video about understanding fast-talking , it also was amazing and useful for me like the others ...but I need to watch it again and again to remember it well : )

Now with your teaching I feel better in watching and listening to the different accents , in persian we say our English accent smokes and puffs out because we have mixed all pronunciations in a new English accent that is “ finglish “ ( farsi-english) i hope with your lovely teaching reach a steady and exact accent 🙏🌹

Every word emma said sounded clear...
even though i'm a beginner , i know what you said
Thanks Emma

You are one of my favourite teacher on RUclips 🥰 thanks for the best tips 👌❤❤❤
Hi Emma, I really appreciate it. These tip is very useful and I'll do it to practice listening skill. I love Ted talk and love you so much,🥰🥰.
Hi Emma! Thanks for this lesson!🌷💕In my opinion the most difficult thing of listening is fast-talkIng native speakers especially when some words are put together as if they turn into one long word that I have never heard.
It sounds like completely different words, doesn’t it?! Have you seen my video on understanding fast-talking native speakers? It might help you :)
@@mmmEnglish_Emma Thank you for your feedback 😍💛 I do appreciate it! Yes, that's exactly what I meant. Yes, I've watched your video about understanding fast-talking , it also was amazing and useful for me like the others ...but I need to watch it again and again to remember it well : )
Thank you so much for helpful tips you provide without any cost..👍👍👍
Hlo mam, I love your sound✨️✨️. I like your teaching style very much.God bless you✨️✨️. Lots of love from India🇮🇳🇮🇳
