Word! Studio time is getting crazy expensive and with all of the shortcuts available for mixing I feel like unless you know the engineer personally they are ok with not trying they're best on your track if your are less known than some of their other clients. Hi Edward, I have tunes in my head and I also have a mental idea in great detail of what sounds should go with it, but I have no experience in DAWs. I find learning a DAW real intimidating. What should be my approach to turn my ideas into actual music - learning a DAW is such a huge learning curve. Is there a way to collaborate with people who actually know DAWs and instruments and recording so that I can get my ideas into songs? Would really appreciate your input. Thanks.
Nowadays you have to put your idea down first. So my advice would be to learn the basics of an easy to use DAW, and then try find producers to take your idea from there. Don't find DAWS intimidating, just start using one and get into it and you'll be fine. Using a DAW is just something everyone must do or be able to do if you wanna make music and be successful. For example, You can't write a book if you find typing and writing to be intimidating, especially if you are a beginner. Being able to use a DAW is just a must in my opinion... You won't regret it!
hey man dont be so intimidated, for me was the same honestly i just got fl studio which is user friendly and still a powerful daw that alot of popular people use and even now im still learning tbh but its great to start and use youtube tutorials to help you out
It may sound simplistic, but I would suggest to start by just humming or singing your ideas into your phone's mic! Capture the basic spark first and then figure out which DAW works best for you to really flesh out your vision. The main thing is capturing that initial idea and then work on refining it. Good luck!
Ok man, you prolly already figured it out by now but just in case. I suggest using Ableton Live, it's a bit costly if you want the Suite version but they have an Intro for just under $200 and even with the Suite they give you a 90 day trial period where you get pretty much everything you need to get started and learn. That's what I did pretty much and after 3 free trials I bought the Intro version and started getting into it. Live is so easy cause you don't really need to know to play instruments. You can just put chords into a MIDI track and go from there, chords you can find online or buying samples packs or finding free samples online. It will be hard the first few times you try but if you're passionate and persistent and really care about the music then you'll find a way. There's also a bunch of tutorials online bro but good luck and hope you found what you were looking for. Peace
How much does the order of plugging things into the DAW matter? Should it always be 1.Monitor 2. Headphones 3. Mic ? What order would you plug in an electric guitar? And how would you plug in electric guitar? Btw, thank you so much for your review!!!
