Hi-Fi Rush Soundtrack - Mimosa Boss Music (Fiona Apple - Fast As You Can Elsinore Cover)

- Here's the song that plays during the bossfight with Mimosa. The original is Fiona Apple - Fast As You Can, but the ingame version uses a cover produced by Elsinore and sung by Kayla Brown.
This one has a lot more parts working for it compared to the Rekka fight. No special versions for difficulties, just lots of split parts for each segment of the fight. I considered placing the guitar bits in with the dance battle part, but unfortunately it seems like they tweak some of the sounds within the engine. Since I don't know exactly what numbers they used to pitch the sounds, I didn't want to mess it up. The chorus bits in this track correspond mostly to the transition animations between verses in the actual fight.
I kept in the ending of the game's original track Backstage Hustle - REO and Masatoshi Yanagi in, as I thought it gave better context to the start of the bossfight.

I like it whenever Chai lands an attack, it sounds like a musician trying to make their own solo and trying to steal the limelight Mimosa loves.

That part is so fucking satisfying.
And it hits especially hard since it's in the light shut down section where it does plays with lights and silhouettes.
Upstaging the showboating villain is a type of boss fight I will never get enough of
Easily one of my favorite fights especially cause the music but most importantly when Chai goes "All eyes on me Mimosa" I absolutely fucking adore it
Just one of the single most satisfying things I've seen in a game since DMC5
Not to mention the funny spin comment back to her

It’s a damn shame that this and the Free Radicals covers by Elsinore isn’t on Apple Music or Spotify, because they definitely deserve to be on those platforms

Backstage hustle is technically it's own thing, but this is great splicing.
It makes for a great build-up

I've been looking for this and the Free Radicals cover for a while. The other licensed songs aren't hard to find because they're not covers, but I was craving these two. You've done a fantastic job splicing them together, this is how I imagine it would sound if an official OST was released, which I hope we do get. This will definitely suffice for the time being. This was the battle that turned Chai into a true Rockstar.
Fiona Apple's lyrics fit Mimosa much better for me.
"Oh darling it's so sweet you think you know how crazy, how crazy I am!" alone is such an amazing opening verse for the boss fight.
The streamer mode version is good but it this version feels like Mimosa herself signing to Chai with sass and sophistication, thinking she knows she's above you. The streamer mode feels almost too grande and theatrical despite her being a showman.
The bridge is so much harder with the crowd cheering and clapping their hands, wow :(

I particularly liked the rhythm parry section, when its Mimosa's "go" the female singer teakes centre stage, while when it's Chai's "go" it's the make singer

The second segment with having to attack her in the dark goes really well with the lyrics, the rhythm-game part fits better with the lyrics as well, and the ending..
MAN, the final seconds at 4:24 give you goosebumps if you've died on this fight a few times.. Such a satisfying way to end a boss

My heart feels no pain is better imo
This was one of, if not THE first, fights in the game where I got a clear time that WASN'T S Ranked and it was at the time I saw that that I basically went "hmm. It seems I may indeed have a bit of a skill issue."
Then I remembered I set the game to hard despite my reasoning for it being a different rhythm game that controlled UNFATHOMABLY differently
This is a great iteration of the song, but it doesn’t really do the original composition justice (the chorus is so underwhelming imo)
BUT I will say I think it flourishes on its own as homage rather than a proper cover (like the Hoosiers’ Abby road cover of we didn’t start the fire)
