I'm Glad there are people in the world this time we are in to repair instead of throwing away { Pending the damage } I believe if you can repair what you broke you can save millions!
I picked up a PS5 of the same model today with this same damaged capacitor. After changing it I still didn't have 5v on this line, I remember checking the fuses but now that I've seen your video. I'll check out that F7001 again. I hope it went unnoticed because I spent more than 2 hours looking for the cause.[Fixed !! Thanks You Are a Inspiration ! ]
@@TheCod3r Great work and such good idea to use the system itself to report its own faults. Have you checked in one of the new PS5 Slims if they also have a UART that can be used?

Hello mate, i love watching your videos. Unfortunately my ps5 is having the same issues as the one on this video. Im based in the uk and was wondering if i can send it in fir repairs? I look forward to your reply soon. Thanks 👍🏽
Hi there, I'm based in Birmingham and have been looking for someone to do a RAM upgrade on a Steam Deck from 16GB to 32GB. Is this something you'd be able to do? I've dropped you and email and text message using the details on your website, I'm not sure they've gone through though. Thanks
@@DeadPhoenix86DP what I meant is if someone that's good at such stuff be able to create a mod for people to be able to install the firmware on an external ssd, because sooner or later those internal SSD will die
Phil, I know what you mean by to lazy to get the thermal camera, but I’ve learnt to not be, just one query, is the customer going to pay for your laziness?? Whether the parts come off a donor board or not, the end of the day it was initially your own lazy mistake.. if it was me I would just replace the front panel, and wear it.. Hope you understand from a fixer..
Nothing that happened here was my fault mate. I found a short which is why it came to me and the customer paid for that. The front panel was covered in grime inside the button which I noted at the start. I tried to no avail to clean it and prevent having to replace it. I advised the customer of course and made it clear it's probably OK but it can cause issues so he decided to pay for the replacement front panel. I don't see what else happened in this one bud
This is what i dont like of the new generation consoles, they are all disposable consoles with ssds that will die and you wont be able to change, the switch is at least possible to change the storage by hacking but not nativelly. Nice video Phil.

Had this same case last week. Same bad cap and after injection the fuse was blown.
Ooooh UART! I saw you commenting in that GBAtemp thread about PS5 and UART. Some absolute champ have been dumping a load of codes on it.
Yeah we've been working a lot recently on UART. Hopefully it keeps going and we get info on all the codes

Where did you buy the new nice blue Matt you working on ?
I searched a bit and found it. It's on Gamers Nexus store

Haha thanks mate
Great video as always Phil.
What happened to your thermo camera 🤔
Hey mate! While servicing, you took out the solder whick and removed some solder near the antenna cables. Was it a solder blob? How did it get there?
Yeah that was me who put that solder there because I used it as a ground point to solder wires for the UART reader 😀
Phil what hot air device do you use

Is that the same uart reader we used on the ps3's
Yeah same reader will work fine
Would it be possible to install the firmware to expandable ssd storage 🤔
Nope. Internal only. They need to enable that through a firmware update.

Did you and booter ever figure out what was wrong with his ps5 with higher than normal voltage readings
I won't tell booter you were using a red alligator clip for ground after the fuss you made the other night over his black probe 🤫 secrets safe 😂
Nice win even watched it till the end lol
Ta pal
Awesome!
Bad cap you say? Never seen that before ;)
Are the ssd's upgradable?
Sadly not mate. Not unless you can find 6 larger ICs along with a clone tool to clone the paired chips :(
@@TheCod3r That's most definitely, above my pay grade. ☹️
