If you make a purchase through this link, I might earn a small fee at no cost to you.
You made this look so easy it’s almost infuriating! I’m over here slaving away taking like 20hrs to do what you did in 6 lol
Nice work! I have a 2017 3500 that needs this done.
heat the cam gear ujp and pull it
Oh man you go all out! I don't lift the cab or take the rad out. Just pull the cam out far enough that its almost touching the rad. saves you a couple hours
😮 no way Im definitely going to try that out!
I have a 2015 3500 that I bought in 2021 from a dealership and within a couple of days I noticed a leak in my driveway and I took it back to the dealer to check for leaks. A couple of days went by and I got in contact with my service writer he said my timing gear cover had a leak and it was a 24 hour job and that it would be $5500 dollars. I told him that I’m just bought the truck from them less than a week prior and I wasn’t paying for that. He said he would run it by the service manager and he’d get back to me. He called me later that day and said they’ll have it ready for me the following week, no cost to me. I was lucky! 😂I swear I was going to take it back to Ram and tell them to shove it. I already own my house. I’ll take the hit to my credit😂
@@mickyfingaz These trucks are not cheap and the maintenance is not cheap either. There are limited amount of shops/mechanics that understand diesels. It’s crucial to inspect these vehicles thoroughly before pulling the trigger.
I’m about to do my first one on a 2018 3500. Started on the diesel team last month.
I just had this done and when I picked it up from dealer the engine doesn’t sound the same! Not even close, should I expect that?
If you can do that in 6 hours I need to hire you! The shop is quoting 19 hours for that job.
The lighting in your bay is great. I feel like I'm working in a closet.
Yeah it makes all the difference!
I was quoted 21 hours to do this in the Okanagan B.C. where are you located
Was the case cracked or was the gasket leaking? What would cause something like that?
The paper gasket cracks on the passenger side, could be from incorrect torque.
My dodge ram chassis cab 2017 SLT 4WD with only 44.000 on the odometer start with the front engine oil leak from timing cover and was quoted about 19-30 hours labor and parts for just only $5.650 USD
What a deal !!!😠😡😡😡😡😡
Really poor quality on modern trucks, scotty said stay away from them unless you are rich!! Endless pita money!!!😢😢😢
Error made in the assembly plant paid by the customer unless under recall.😡😡😡@@TDRAuto
I really need this done. Are you interested in doing it? I will pay you top $$. I need someone that's a pro. I have an immaculate 4th gen with this issue. I just plain don't have confidence in a shop near me.
Do you have a part number for the new gasket?
Do you have to pull the head for this repair? Or just pull the valve train?
Valve train heads can stay on just pull the push rods up
Psst... I did mine without pulling the bumper... just jacked up the engine with mounts on.. gives you enough room to pull cam.. Nice video though!
How long did this job take? Was this covered under warranty?
Unfortunately it was, I spent around 14 hrs and got 10!
@@TDRAuto Too bad man! The shop is def in it 4 money
how did you hold the lifters???
With Mopar special tool - wooden sticks.
