Truck Bed Build With Extrusions (Tune M1 Camper)
Просмотров 2,2 тыс.2 месяца назад
Easy and affordable build with aluminum extrusions. This set up easily sleeps 4 and a dog inside Tune M1 camper on Ram 1500. Aluminum extrusion with T-slots on each side is super durable, clean looking and very versatile. I think it is the ultimate material to build framing in the bed of a truck. In this build I used 4x 2000mm and 4x 1500mm extrusions, over 30 corner brackets, couple T-brackets...

RAM Cummins Timing Gear Case Time Lapse
Brilliant. I enjoyed watching this. I will be checking the gap on mine.
This is the OEM for the matco one... Schley (#18100)
Thanks for the video. You missed one very important thing. Always remove the starter relay first. Most of these trucks have remote start. Imagine if the engine started with no oil in it? That mistake will cost thousands of dollars. It's good practice. I worked in a Dodge dealer 28 years and have seen some serious mistakes done in the express oil changes.
Thanks for the info 👍💯
Please where shop glasses ! bad things can happen !!
I bought mine 4 years ago, paid 1500,it pays for itself fast, grease the screw, it will get damaged but matco sells it
You should always use a touch of grease when installing press-fits. Cool video tho!
You could have paid someone to change those ball joints to a thousand bucks, parts included.
Whenthose axles dont come off i usually find the splines worn razor sharp and dirt and rust in the snapring groove so i just replace the stubshafts to
Going to have to do a lot of ball joints to pay for that new tool. I suggest refraining from the use of an impact tool. Hand tools only and well oiled threads. The tool will last much, much longer.
Yup, freezing the new parts is a real thing. Nice tool.
I've done several dodges with C presses and bought the matco press to save myself the headache in the future. Much more leverage to save all the beating and cussing.
DONE BY HAND - ruclips.net/video/yvRLl6Fj6yI/видео.html ROOKIE
NAW NAW NAW REMOVE THE UPPER BALL JOINT 1ST YOU DOPE THEN LOWER WITH THE C-CLAMP AND USE IMPACT SMH
LMAO I DO THESE ALL DAY LONG AND NEVER STRUGLE LIKE THIS GUY
Thank you very much!
I have that same set. Well worth the $$.
Cool tool. Too much $$$ for me. If I was a youngster beginning my career, it would be worth consideration. Nice video. Ignore the trolls. There is always someone who can do a job faster/easier.
💯💪
Well done
I've been working at Berglund Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram for almost 17 years now and been working on all Ram 25 - 35 and 4500s all that time, never ever had a issue with the old OG OTC press. Maybe a little heat hear and there, but they just pop right out if you do it right. Nice plug for Snappy but we don't need that here.
@@joshausterlitz3798 Good for you, my intention with this video is for mechanics that have a hard time with these ball joints as I keep hearing how everyone struggles and destroying C-clamps (user error or not does not matter), I’m just showing that there is another and faster way
Nope, I'll just watch. So beautiful though
I have that same truck I bought used the guy had just put a new transmission in it at $129,000 me I paid real money for it it has 179,000 mi on it have had no problems with it the Dodge truck is incredibly strong we did a real seal on it yesterday I have had two of them they are very good trucks
Looks more like you should find a different job if you can't use a ball joint press. Sorry if it sounds harsh but that c-clamp style one does the same thing and more!
@@shaun8256 looks like you never did ball joints on Ram 3500. I’ve been using C-clamps for over 20 years, I still use them today, but for these trucks I like the Matco one better and if it can save me bunch of time that means I make more money,
@TDRAuto I worked for a chrysler dealer for two years, and other repair shops for at least twenty-five, I've done those ball joints more times than I can remember. The first few I struggled with but after that I got both sides done within an hour! It's a learned skill buttercup. I can even do manifolds on a 5.7 both sides in an hour!
@ Congratulations, I’m happy for you.
That thing is 1k. I will stick with my 50 bucks reg. press. It would make sense if u do this every day. But for reg dyi. Not worth the money. Cool tool though. I would pay 300 for it. But 1k is way too much.
Over 35yrs tech. Most of those years dealerships for Chrysler. Never have I ever had ball joints I could not extract and have new ones installed in minutes with the corkscrew c-clamps. I can tell you the combination of whatever you were using for cups was all wrong and of course will not come out because you are not straight with the screw outside the upper ball joint hole. If removing lower without removing top then flip your c-clamp 180 degrees and yes you have correct cups in the kit to configure them at 180 deg. That whole job, ball joints both sides from start to driving done I would have done in about 1.5 hrs tops. (Including alignment) You are working on the floor that highly complicates that time because you cannot flip c clamp and get impact gun on it being that close to the floor so maybe add another hr. Shops that want to pay flag times are required to provide you with proper shop basics for you to make time flag pay. If they cannot provide lifts they cannot pay flag.
1.5hrs you say and with an alignment? You must be the one creating time study for Chrysler warranty! LOL I never had any issues with any ball joints over the years (my experience is only 25 years though) but these 2500 and 3500 HD Ram trucks and I know I'm not the only one as I asked around other master techs that actually work on these trucks, they all use the Matco press only few use the Snap On BJP. Too much salt being dumped on the roads here in winter is not helping either. Anyway I'm happy to cut down my ball joint jobs on these truck by half at least and that's a win win for me even at that crazy price.
Your deluisonal my guy lol
@@TDRAuto Yep, ball joints as well alignment are "Gravy" work. general not specialty. I know of many career dealership techs over the years that average these times. (nothing special) Done so many could almost do them blind folded. (25yrs id say your times should have been their as well) And Unfortunately over the years I know of several warranty times the dropped because of manufacture (Not dealership dealerships support fast times) threatening my certs vs a walk through a how I did "X" in those times. I could list off a few but it still pisses me off to this day. Think that ball joint time is not possible I could tell you a lot about specialty jobs many that you would not believe possible. I actually had multiple times manufacture guys standing in my bay waiting on me in the mornings threatening certs and back pay if I did not "Prove" how I was doing "X" in such times, to the point of them threatening the dealerships if I did not squeal and perform x job in front of them. Im sure im not alone in this either, any techs that dont realize you can "Run time" all you want to c-y-a but in the end the manufacture not only monitors dealership vin counts via dealer connect but on a tech level as well. so all those cars you plug into or simply check for recalls, rrts, or service bulletins on. They can see when you are functioning outside physical hours in a day but on a monthly level, you catch their attention, and they will audit the dealerships invoices on you to see how much time you really spent on the warranty work. Whatever anyways long way around saying not a special time I listed off.
Let me guess, you are one of those old farts at the shop that complaint about everything and everyone but never had the balls to open your own show.
@@FYT-6 Well ya guessed wrong on both accounts. 13yrs now after leaving dealerships. your 0/2
Over $1000???? Hell no
The C clamp type work best on stuck joints when you alternate between tightening the screw as much as possible and then hitting the end of the screw with a hammer. Hitting the clamp doesn't work, hitting the end of the screw instead works much better.
That’s why I Love my 2012 2500 and no DEF!😘🙏🙏🙏
You read the pressure backwards it should be the opposite 20 at screw 185 ft lbs pressure point
most air guns tight around 185lbs so that will be applied to the screw and that will transfer to 20 tons of force on to the ball joint, I think I got it right
Tool is made by Schley tools 18100 I have it, works when nothing else will touch those Ram ball joints !!
I just hit the old ball joints with a big hammer to get them out. It helps getting them moving, then the c clamp pushes the rest of the way.
Get that s o b
Isn’t that C clamp threaded rod supposed to go through the upper hole during removal? Seems it might sideload doing it your way.
Never had an issue doing ball joints in any of my Rams over the years. I use a standard c clamp kit. Your new kit is definitely better
@@tazzthedoodle7861 It’s just another way to do stubborn ball joints easy.
nice
* * * * *
Never seen someone hit the C with a hammer..hit the spindle where it's actually hardened and in line with the ball joint
I know you heavily greased those threads on that press?
On the third set of lower ball joints on my Ram 1500 2004 definitely a weak link
The secret to the first 1 is using a impact gun. Worked like a charm in 2 minutes on my 470k mile salt belt 98 ram 2500
YUP IMO this dude is getting a kick back to promote the tool
You know if you want to make this more believable you should of shown us you trying to take out the ball joints with the otc brand. I own the otc brand kit and have done many ram 2500 and hand no problems.
My answer to these... welcome to my hydraulic press channel! I always drop the knuckles
These ball joints are pressed into the inner Cs, so you'd have to drop the axle housing to use a hydraulic press.
@MikeF421 you are correct, didn't see that at first
I know this a 4 year old video but. I’m helping a kid with his 07 ram 1500. Front axles would NOT come off. Not with a slide hammer. Not with a heavy bar and sledge. Not with preloading from a pry bar and then a hit with a hammer. Went and picked up a cheap Harbor Freight air hammer. Got both axles off in 5 minutes with this method!!! Thank you so much for the idea!!
Schley products makes it for MATCO (SP Tools 18100) its about $900 but comes with the cups so about 100 cheaper after tax still expensive but worth it.
If you live at the bottom of the ocean...rams rust...little heat ...300 degrees... brass hammer ..put some pressure on crap ball joint tool from parts store...whack bore of knuckle...never fails... move to the desert.... 5 year old powerwagon...under truck still looks brand new...
wow! An air powered Ingersoll Rand impact wrench, so some shops still supply pneumatic power for their mechanics to use, good to see!
Lol, I could not live without it. Why waste expansive battery powered tools when I have air tools that last pretty much forever. I can't see air being replaced anytime soon, since we are required to check pressures in tires.
any shop that doesn't have dedicated air for the shop is odd to me. now if only they mad air hoses that were worth a damn anymore
C clamp under pressure and than the heater gun and thats all in germany😂
Got the Schley 18100 badass press for sure 💯
Schley manufactures the matco press
Nice tool. Unfortunately where I work the only tool dealer that have survived is Snap on. Yes we’ve had a few Snap on reps in a 20 year😅 period. Mac and Matco survive about a year then were without for 2-3 years.
@@ericfaley9019 I hear you, we had a Matco guy retired few years back and it took 2 years for a new one to get here
