There is a CP4 recall for my Ecodiesel ...now i see why its taking so long to fix my truck; lots of work and parts needed ...Thanks for your great videos
Great video, I have a hard time trusting folks to work on my vehicles, so I bought the Y78 kit and did it myself. Excellent job showing how to do this and clarifying a few spots the instructions lack. thanks!
Hello, how did the job go? I did the same but my truck doesn’t run now. It cranks but doesn’t start. Checked the lines and saw that fuel goes into the CP3 but doesn’t get sent from the CP3 to the rail. Any suggestions ?
@@mubarakwk6660 you need to have the PCM updated after installing these cp3 pumps for this recall, I am a Chrysler tech and do these a lot. Not saying that is the cause of crank no start. Did you properly time the pump before installing? Are all your lines tight, did you keep the area clean when exposing the fuel system to the environment? If you have a scan tool check your rail pressure, these are pretty straight forward and nothing major. Lemme know I will tryn help. edit: last question, did you truck by chance have a crank no start prior to installing this kit?
@@coyoteaustin17Hey man, thanks for your reply. Truck started around a week ago.. turns out it was a faulty rail pressure sensor. Now everything is working fine only problem is I am having a “surge” every once in a while for like 2-3 secs .. rail pressure drops from 6800-7200 to 4000 ish then gets back to normal..
@@mubarakwk6660 oh hell yea good news. Is this surge issue happening only at idle, what is the truck seeing during driving or WOT? How are you fuel filters?? I would test the fuel rail pressure regulator, it is at the back of the rail, to test it you will need a special fitting the will go into the location on where the banjo bolt is located on top of your common rail, the tool you can buy online just google it is "miller 9012A" run a hose into a measuring container... once you see the fitting you'll understand. the spec is less than 2 ml during 10 seconds of cranking for the regulator test, you can also do HPFP performance test while there I know you just installed a new one but why not just check it while there. To do that disconnect the fuel rail pressure regulator connector and disconnect the HPFP quantity solenoid sensor at you injection pump crank the engine for 10 seconds each 3 times more than 74 ml @ 200 rpm for 30 seconds total, minimum spec you want to see over 90ml typically. if you regulator test fails you will need to replace that, switch is not a fun job the whole common rail will need to be removed and put on a soft jaw vice to install that new sensor. That is a good little start quite simple to do and just to see how those things are.
just doing my first one at work on a cummins , much easier on the 3.0L echo diesels .... i have seen other techs do it from the top aswell and so did i. now watching this video gave me a perfect idea of what i needed to do now next veh i will do it from the wheel well, thans great vid
Great job. If I had any influence over the engineers for these things, I’d make 1 or 2 stand at Parade Rest next to the wheel well for each recall performed!
Very informative!! I was hearing that the latest update after this install locks out the ECM from future tuning.. Have you heard anything about this yourself? And thank you for the time.. Love your videos!
I have a 2019 ram 3500 that has a def delete and some kind of eco flash so it run without the def, cat and muffler. My dealer asked me before doing the job since they didn’t know what flash I have if I wanted to do the job. I bought the truck used and didn’t even know about any of it,(I put in 2 boxes of def and the gauge still shows empty. I knew it had recalls so I just took it to the dealership to have them done. Now I’m trying to figure out who the previous owner was to ask about the flash. The dealer states if we can get the info regarding the flash then they can do the job and then reflash for the def after they flash for the fuel pump. Hopefully that is all true and not dealership BS. Any comments on how to figure out what flash I have would be greatly appreciated.
I just had my diesel pump in my 2020 6.7 Cummins. I dealership charged 1100 claiming they had to clean my tank and fuel system. My question is shouldn’t this been included in the recall.
Yes that is part of the recall, FCA states, if your truck arrived to the dealer w/ a no-start condition, and diagnosis resulted in a the HPFP being faulty debris from the fuel pump clogging the fuel lines/injectors and the cause of the no-start, they should have replaced your gas tank and injectors for free, part of the recall. Was your truck running fine.
24:32 is where I'm aligning the pump. The end of shaft has 3 digit number stamped on it, so the middle number I believe it's '8' must be aligned properly with the body of the pump as shown in the video. Engine has to be in TDC before installation.
What's funny is its the same pump dodge was sued over and then they along with Chevy and ford kept installing them on new models, it's not a new one it's a 4.2 cp
My truck is at the dealer for this recall right now. How will this change my truck other than having a more reliable FP? Also, anything I should look for after to ensure the dealer completed it correctly? Some dealers cut corners for cost. Thanks
All this is soo stupid people have to deal with manufacturing problems in all this in order to charge money a take mytruck to landers they try to charge me 10k dlls. They said bad diesel. When i ask print the diagnosis and cost to fix they refuse to give any paperwork and they stop talk to me so all this is a bushiit.

Yup! Mine just went in too. Hoping for the best
I just did one for first time and did it from the top, this looks way easier through the wheel well and a lot less to take off

Wonderful info, Ive never though of doing it from up top, if Stellantis finds this vid i bet theyll slash the times though.
Great video. Thanks for making it!
Good job on the video bro. I work for a dealership in my home town. Service library is not good at giving you full details on somethings.

Got any information on this yet?

Great job 👍👍... 34:17 Different truck now?
Yep, battery ran out. I was hoping no one would notice thanks to all that salt. 😅
@@TDRAuto All good... Greetings from DownUnder.
I had this recall done at the dealer. Is it possible a bad install could cause an oil leak and a power steering fluid leak?

What size is the new recall pump?
If replacing the cp4 with another cp4 , do you have to still find TDC?
@@faceface4171 yes, unless you can mark the old pump and the gear and set the new one exactly in same position
Nice work.
Do you have to align the fuel pump and have the motors top down center in alignment before installing the new fuel pump?

@TDR Auto have you ever had any of the pumps make a rattling noise at low RPM after the recall?
So far all were rattle free.
Muito bom video/ brasil

I don't think you will notice much difference. I would just check if the PCM has the latest software, and no leaks present.
What did you do to relieve fuel pressure before removing old pump?
Once the engine is off there is no pressure on diesels. Only small amount will leak out.
Just replaced mine on 2015 LML, My question is did I qualify for the recall? I was told that I didn’t qualify so i had to pay $11,900
Only 2019/20 Rams with the CP4 pump were affected
