Beautiful Place,AND TIME❤
Excellent.. thanks for sharing and regards from Deutschland
Brilliant....magnificent nostalgia...and I'm not even American! I visited this place, along with Eunice and many other Louisiana towns and cities in 2004. Loved it. The friendliest of the 12 states I have visited. Wonderful music, too, of course....John V, London, England
Yeah I wish mamou was like that now
We're from Northern Scotland and going to Mamou was a pilgrimage to listen to the great music and meet the beautiful Cajun people. Met a man called Israel and drank some fine southern beer. I now have a cat called Mamou
Thank you Richard, You have done a great job putting all of this together. I cant tell you how many times I have watched these videos, But when I want to hear music that I love I go right to your videos. Thank you very much. They ought to make you the Mayor and Head Historian of Mamou La.
My mother was raised in Mamou LA and was in her early twenties during the last half of the 1950's. My personal memories of Mamou are from visiting my grandparents in the 1960's. Thank you for this video.
I really enjoyed watching this video and seeing the old photos; especially since I am a Perron with roots in Mamou and at the 30 second mark there was a picture of a gas station called Perron's Center. That's definitely kinfolk.
Thanks for putting this together Mr. DesHotels.

What a Great version of Joli Blanc. Who sings that version ?
I remember when I was a T Fille (little girl) asking my Momma, “Why do you say Grand Mamou ( Big Mamou)? She said, “Because that is what the Cajun people from Mamou want to be called, Big Mamou’. Till this day , I call it Big Mamou.
Great music what year did the Mardi Gras start there ?

@JtrasherUA : That surprises me because this cajun town of Mamou had a population of only 3k during the '50's. One would think Cleveland would have been much different. Interesting.
