I left Brighton in 1985 for Northern California. Ive been back a few times last visit July 2001 to bury my dad. I still have sibs and their families living there, they sent me this link. Good to see the old place again and take a vicarious walk around a City I dont even recognize! Very few businesses have been around since my wild Brighton days, only Browns remains a constant. The Lanes looks a lot better as a pedestrian area.

It was everywhere you went, everyone I knew was doing it. Every woman I met was into it, and expected her date to powder her nose! Fortunately I never paid for any, but it was extremely tempting. Living in Sacramento for the past 10 years, but I miss the Ocean. It's tough living away from the water. I grew up in Hove too btw, Livingstone Rd then Hove Park Villas. Went to the Nevill. Worked on George St, Hove for many years. What's your story?!

I went to Sommerhill School in Hove. Met an American girl when I was studying at Sussex University, followed her to the States and married her. Had my first ever pint in The Sussex down the Lanes! Brighton will always be home for me

Family home was on Hove Park Villas, so grew up close by the Goldstone Ground, and followed the Albion since their Division 4 days. Still very much in touch with Brighton, I have siblings and their families there, so pretty much daily contact. Haven't been back since 2001, I've got back issues that limit flying. My dear sister coming out here in September, haven't actually seen her in 23 years. Brighton is still very much my home, but I couldn't possibly live in the UK having been spoiled by California for nearly 40 years!! 😀

Hi @AnnabelleJARankin - thanks for giving us some great feedback. We don't film that way because it's very uncomfortable (for us, anyway) watching videos where the camera swings around all the time trying to get everything in. We just can't watch them for any length of time. We map our walks in advance so that we show the high points of the route along the way, while keeping a smooth camera view...so hopefully we're getting everything of interest in!
@@LivingWalks I don't mean 'swing around all the time', I mean at times - helps us recognise where you are and check out the shops, etc. that may have changed or may be different.

Excellent quality video but sadly, it's not the Brighton I knew as I was a kid and into teen years. I have so many beautiful memories of that Brighton which was full of atmosphere and adventure. This Brighton seems to be just eateries and people walking around aimlessly. Obviously, the damp weather doesn't help. I emigrated to New Zealand and then Queensland Australia but my heart still hungers for the Brighton of my memories. I still enjoyed this video though, so thank you.

At 5.50 minutes, was that Food for Family or Food for Thought? Just before the Cafe Nero.....I first ate there way back in 1982 when it was a fantastic veggie restaurant with great salads. Is it the same place still going?
Hi AN, you should just be able to shoot 4K in GoPro 9 on linear setting. How are you finding it? We’ve just bought the DJI pocket 2 and we’re happy with it, especially in low light. Hope you enjoy the GoPro.

Looking to visit in summer is it solo friendly and are most under 50s folk friendly there. Also believe that Sussex is one of thunderstorm capitals of UK do they get loads there

I left Brighton 50 years ago in my 20s and I am delighted to say I have never returned. It is still now what it was then, an overcrowded tourist resort with no time for residents. The only good thing about it was I met my late wife there. Not for me..if I never see it again then that will be too soon.

Hi Des, yes I think it's till Food for Thought, as you say a great vege restaurant and one of the pioneers I believe.
