    History is my passion and a I’m particularly interested in Russian history.
    This series is very well done, with narration being first class.
    Every dynasty has intrigue, murder and corruption at its core.
    Ruthless - no room for emotion and little room for ethical standards.
    ‘The Dynasty must live on’.

    An interesting, even some mystical fact.
    The Romanov Dynasty began in the "Ipatiev Monastery". The first Czar Michael lived there.
    The Romanov Dynasty ended in the "Ipatiev house". The last Czar was executed there.
    Such a coincidence. Such an irony of fate.

    I gotta say, that the cinematography, acting, staging and overall quality of this documentary is outstanding. It doesn't plod either, like most historical documentaries tend to do. It crisply goes forward from tsar to tsar, with all the relevant information about each reign presented quickly and well. Reminds me of an educated, historical "Game of Thrones." It's that entertaining.

    I love history! My focus is usually England English history but my second love is Russia and Russian history and then Germany. I love the Victorian era - when all the royal families were actually German. One segment of my family is supposedly related to Kaiser Wilhelm. If so, that ties us to all of them from England to Germany to Russia. In any event - I am about 4 minutes into this documentary and I love it already!

    Both the French and Russian Revolutions would never have happened if the monarchies of these two countries had changed from Autocratic monarchies to Constitutional monarchies on time- around the 16th centuries - like it happened in England. the monarchies would have survived like we have today in England, Scandinavia, Belgium and Holland.

    • @alexs7097
      @alexs7097 5 лет назад +21

      Not necessarily, sadly the REAL truth of what caused the revolution is not going to be admitted. Rothschilds had a major interest to finance unrest in Russia at that time as Russia at that time despite all the troubles was an industrial giant and it was the country with highest oil production during the time of the unrest. So with it's massive industrial production, unlimited natural riches and resources, as well as biggest oil production Russia was going to govern the world and becomes a sole superpower in early 1920's.... Russian revolution and WW1 stopped that in it's tracks... there is a money trail going from Rotscheilds through its jew connections to bolesheviks and communist revolution of 1917.... it is all there. What is more.... if you follow the situation closely you will find that the same "people" are trying to isolate and stop the development of Russia today... via artificial wars and so called "sanctions" which really have no effect, but do slow down thinngs.

This is a good example of the moral ambiguities of history and why we cannot judge historical figured by modern standards.

      Do you know about the Rurikid dynasty? According to the Story of time years the founder of dynasty was Viking konung by name Rurik which East Slavic tribes have invited on board in 862 AD from Scandinavia (most likely from territory of modern Sweden). He came together with his two brothers and a small retinue. Most likely with him also arrived and volunteer settlers from Scandinavia. Vikings settled in the territory of modern northwestern Russia. Rurik turned the Slavic settlement into a fortified fortress, making it his capital. It is not known what the Vikings themselves called it, but the Slavs called it Novgorod (literal translation - new city).

    I usually don’t watch documentaries without any expert interviews, gets a bit dead I think but this seems great! Amazing re-enactment scenes and super narrator! Really interesting story
