  • Today in the shop, we rebuild a 1946-1948 Ford flathead distributor. We discuss the evolution of distributors on Flatheads through the years, dissect our 46’-48’ core, clean reusable parts and replace all wear items.
Tune in for “part2” when we prepare the distributor to factory settings, adapt to our 1939 flathead and more!

Wonderful upload thank you. Have you done part two yet? I am changing from Helmet style to crab on my 39 Ford. Cheers

Thank you for watching! I’ve been hustling on other projects lately, but will make the time to film part two as soon as possible. Stay tuned and good luck on your project!

Great video. I was a Model A guy before this. Those were painfully simple. Flatheads will humble you quickly. I'd like to convert to the crab style distributor cap. I was curious what parts I need. Also concerning that vacuum brake, if I eliminate that piston, I don't have to worry about it? My car at high RPM wants to hesitate. And I wonder if this isn't because of that vacuum.
