Finish welding and paint the roadster pickup chassis
Просмотров 4863 месяца назад
This time in the shop, we break down the chassis for the roadster pickup for finish welding. We then set up the makeshift paint booth in the shop and prepare everything for prime and paint. After a quick reassembly, we repair and install the brake/clutch pedals, and run the brake lines to the axles.
Roadster Pickup Progress: “Project TeeBurn” moving forward!
Просмотров 9416 месяцев назад
Some time has passed since our last video. We go over some updates around the shop and make some significant strides forward on the roadster pickup project!!
Building Simple Body Mounts
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.10 месяцев назад
Today’s major task is to securely mount the body to the frame. This is the first step in handling the steering setup for the car. While we put these simple mounts together, we swapped out the front brakes, exchanged the Model T headlights for some original paint BLC headlights, and adjust the mounting position of the split ‘37 Ford front wishbones.
Building hot rod rear axle radius rods
Просмотров 2,2 тыс.11 месяцев назад
Today in the shop, we tackle the job of building radius rods for the rear axle. We convert the original 1937 rear torque tube supports into radius rods. These will properly support the rear axle equipped with an open driveshaft planned in the near future.
Building crossmember gussets: A proper excuse for more speed holes
Просмотров 3 тыс.11 месяцев назад
Today in the shop, we finalize the design of the transmission crossmember that will strengthen the chassis and also support the rear radius rods.
Building a crossmember for an early ford 3 speed
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.Год назад
Today in the shop, we make great progress on the RPU chassis. After tacking in the rear axle spring perch, we build out our transmission crossmember to both support the transmission, and verify the location of the F1 ford brake and clutch pedals.
Flathead Ford Distributor setting points and initial advance Pt.2
Просмотров 7 тыс.Год назад
Today in the shop, we pick up where we left off with the distributor on the Flathead. We set our points gap, and use our newly developed timing tool to set our initial advance, then test it out on the flathead. Interested in purchasing a timing tool? They’re available for $30 shipped anywhere in the US. Follow this link: paypal.me/Thehotrodworkshop?country.x=US&locale.x=en_US Send: $30 In the “...
Flathead install and splitting wishbones
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.Год назад
After a long day of finish welding the frame, we install the flathead ford engine and trans. Then we split the wishbones off the 37’ ford front axle assembly
Building a Hotrod frame from scratch
Просмотров 53 тыс.Год назад
Over the course of a few days, we bit the bullet and built a brand new frame for project “TeeBurn”. We chip away at some 2x4 3/16 thick steel to form a familiar shape to hot rodding. This brings us one step closer to piecing together a really cool roadster pickup!
Firing up the Flathead Ford
Просмотров 2 тыс.Год назад
Over the past few months, we’ve been chipping away at this 1939 Ford to get it prepared to run. After properly setting it up on the stand, we inspected, cleaned, adjusted and rebuilt what was necessary to confidently fire it up. One large piece of the puzzle is set in place.
Flathead Ford distributor adapt and rebuild : part 1
Просмотров 9 тыс.Год назад
Today in the shop, we rebuild a 1946-1948 Ford flathead distributor. We discuss the evolution of distributors on Flatheads through the years, dissect our 46’-48’ core, clean reusable parts and replace all wear items. Tune in for “part2” when we prepare the distributor to factory settings, adapt to our 1939 flathead and more!
Making a Flathead engine stand adapter
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.Год назад
Today in the shop, we finally get the 59A off the floor and safely mounted on the engine stand.
Project TeeBurn: Cowl vent removal
Просмотров 714Год назад
Today in the shop, we cut out the rotted cowl vent and patch the hole with new 18g sheet metal

Points and their respective coils (not to mention plugs & wires) run at a lower output votage (typically 14kv to 18 kv in mid 70's Gm vehicles) at the spark plug. Lower voltage equates to higher current that equals higher plug internal temperatures and shorter life spans for sparkplugs, plug wires and points alike. Electronic ignition systems & their coils typically operate between 30-35 kv output (stock) and upwards to 75kv on modified vehicles. Higher voltage equals lower current, lower internal plug temperature and longer life for wires and plugs alike. And this says nothing about better fuel economy. Ever wonder why back in the day spark plugs, points and plug wires needed changing as often as every 10,000 miles? And now plugs last as long as 150-200k miles now? Well now you know. 😂

Sir I loved this video and this carb, thank you!. Can you please tell us if there are replicas of these carbs that we can buy? Can this carb be ran as a side draft carb ? Have you ever seen or heard of a side draft version of this carb? Thanks for your insights!

Now wait a minute. What brake tube flairing tool is that? I’m always one step out of the loop. That painted chassis stage reminds me of the old Hot Rod magazine builds in the 80s. It all looks so simple and easy.

    • @TheHotRodWorkshop
      @TheHotRodWorkshop 3 месяца назад

@@836dmar the brake line tool I used is made by Mastercool, but this design has been revised and sold by many different companies. I prefer this design of flaring tool over most since it provides very consistent, concentric flares. It’s also compact enough to repair a factory brake line still installed on the car.
