1:25:40 Rob has a severe misunderstanding of how sovereignty works here. If you do not have a monopoly on violence or force, your sovereignty is moot and/or nonexistent. Syria has been in a civil war for over a decade and still has millions of its civilians spread across the Middle East/Europe as refugees, it is a failed state. Comparing the US attacking terrorists within Syria’s borders to terrorists being bombed by another nation in the US or Canada is silly.
You could argue they don’t have any sovereignty because they are a totalitarian dictatorship. They are run by one person. Or a group of elites. Not the people.
It's been through the Twitch debate circus a lot some years ago and it nicely provided a platform for both sides to align with. Don't think this panel of mainly politics focused creators encompasses any kind of average.
@@matt_9112 Definitely not average but impressive to me as Americans are often portrayed as people that generally don't care about anything going on outside of America. That and I've seen several political commentators who have fumbled around the Brexit topic so it was somewhat refreshing to see that (mostly) everyone there had a good understanding of what was going on.
As pointed out by Destiny at the end of the first topic, Rob came to the debate with a narrative about why things occurred and talking points to go with the narrative but absolutely nothing to substantiate the bridge he was trying to lay between cause and effect. He does this with every single topic he every talks about but I've never seen him step in shit so quickly by not knowing anything about the facts or opposing viewpoints (i.e. - that the current and following administrations were ill-prepared to make Brexit a reality rather than that it was a secret coverup to go against the will of the people). This is what happens when a political hack tries to do international politics - the actual facts and people involved aren't funneled through their American right wing echo chambers, and without this feeder system of media, they end up trying to put the carriage before the horse in terms of spinning their narrative and come off as obviously deluded. Big woopsy for Rob.

Just gotta keep them secret besides with trusted friends in case the Nazis doxx him. What most people are thinking actually happened is that people reported his propaganda streams to the SBU who picked him up, saw his Chilean passport, and put him on a train to the temporary Chilean-Ukrainian embassy in Lublin, Poland. Because of his legal troubles back home he then refused to go to Chile and instead ran away to either Amsterdam, London or St. Petersburg, and is streaming from one of those places.

ah yes the classic "every time my guy gets overwhelming evidence of his crimes presented it was actually because he was about to expose their corruption and they had to stop him" thanks rob
Why is it that even with a fellow bonger on the panel the brexit convo was still shit. Dylan picked up the slack but there never seems to be informed conversations on why brexit 'wasn't achieved' or why it won the vote in the first place. The red lines never come up; and they are instrumental in showing the fundamental problems with brexit. The main reasons for voting for brexit was just an extension of sentiment against thatcher right de-industrialisation, the 2008 financial crisis and the austerity that followed, a SMALL amount of migrant crisis hysteria and anti immigration rhetoric and a general trend of populist 'closer to home' democracy will solve our deteriorating post empire and public infrastructure decline. You don't need to bring in the ira or some political class conspiracy to explain it. Also brexit wasn't going to and will never solve any of the issues the uk faced; they where all problems of national politics in the first place. Most people who voted either for and even against brexit didn't really know what they where voting for or against; or how intertwined the uk was with the eu or how any form of brexit will impact the uk.
Eh, I think your view there is coloured by the North. At the time I lived in one of the suburban areas near London that had a lot of brexiteers, and immigration was definitely the number one issue for voting leave in those parts, followed by complaining about foreign products at Tesco and Sainsbury’s. What you talk about is more what I saw visiting family in Newcastle, Glasgow and Swansea.
@@luxborealis I literally am from and live in the south. And no. Immigration was a wide spread talked about issue and if you polled brexit voters a majority of them would say they where worried about immigration. But that does not translate to a defining reason for or the basis of a reason for voting for it. Without the decline in town centres, manufacture jobs, public services and the like, de-industrialisation, privatisation of everything and a general decline in quality of life people wouldn't need to find scape goats like immigration. Sure you could say immigration tipped the scales or was the most vocalised or was the easiest attack line for lefty pro eu people like me to use on pro brexiters. But that will not help to nor does it stand to use immigration as the defining issue. It was always a symptom of wider issues not the defining reason or issue.
@@luxborealis Just incase you read the first response. Here is some additional explanation: You ask any brexiteer about there reasons for voting for it immigration will probably come up first or second. However you ask them about immigrants they've interacted with ie. Their south asian or Commonwealth doctor or nurse who is caring and speaks great english or their recently emigrated hard working eastern european colleague or cleaner or tradesman etc. Or even for the classic stereotyped local indian, chinese or thai place they'll have nothing but nice words about all of them. However its the elusive schrodingers immigrant taking our jobs and lounging off benefits they'll complain about. No problem with some immigration just against mass immigration. And on that they have valid criticism. Successive tory and labour governments have ok'd and relied upon immigrants for shitty agriculture, hospitality, etc. Jobs rather than push for innovative tech or better wages for those jobs. The reason they are against immigration is always for an underlying issue of poorly paid jobs, or lack of manufacturing jobs, or powerless unions, or no affordable housing or any number of other issues that almost always arent the fault of immigrants. That's without the racism aspect. I really do think and feel that the brexit voting major majority even with the pro eu crowd trying to paint them as, all the vox pops you can muster, all the lefty rhetoric and with the out spoken brexit supporters tainting them as such they aren't racist. A small minority of the brexit voters where actually out and out racist. Unknowingly mildy racist maybe but anti immigrants themselves for the sake of it; no.

I live in the UK, Rob has no idea what he was talking about. The brexiteers lied about what brexit meant before the referendum, then afterwards they didn't have the bargaining power to negotiate anything they promised. Once this became clear they lied about ever making the promises and changed the definition of brexit to mean brexit. The referendum result was absolutely symbolic, there was no legal obligation to follow through with brexit, it was just a survey. Now, we negotiate a trade deal with an african country, who, has a trade deal with the EU. The terms of their trade deal with the EU means their internal market has to conform to EU regulations. We then have to agree to sell goods to that country, that conform to EU regulations.... It's a fucking joke.

Whilst it is highly amusing to see a panel of (mostly) Americans debate on Brexit, I'm also quite impressed by their level of knowledge on the topic.
It's been through the Twitch debate circus a lot some years ago and it nicely provided a platform for both sides to align with. Don't think this panel of mainly politics focused creators encompasses any kind of average.
I dunno, it's all pretty base level.

@@matt_9112 Definitely not average but impressive to me as Americans are often portrayed as people that generally don't care about anything going on outside of America.

@@wout4yt You'd think so but they covered far more than I expected.

@@crocrox2273 as I said, stupid people.
Just how many Muslim countries are in the EU? (None)
how many UK governments have cut immigration? (None)
It's a simple equation...
Tell stupid people stupid things...get a stupid outcome. Because their vote actually made it easier for Muslims to get into the UK as the immigration would be more likely to come from outside the EU...where the Muslim countries are.
Also, did you campaign to get all the English people who molest children to be deported? There's far far more of them...

ah yes the classic "every time my guy gets overwhelming evidence of his crimes presented it was actually because he was about to expose their corruption and they had to stop him" thanks rob
Most people who voted either for and even against brexit didn't really know what they where voting for or against; or how intertwined the uk was with the eu or how any form of brexit will impact the uk.
well said
Eh, I think your view there is coloured by the North.
Here is some additional explanation:
You ask any brexiteer about there reasons for voting for it immigration will probably come up first or second.
