- Many people are unsure of what size boxing gloves they need to use for sparring training and competition in this video I will explain the difference between all 3 and what would be the best option to go with!
I was 175 and used some 14oz for bag/pad and Powerlock 16oz for sparring. We went to another gym and I was asked to spar a HW who was wearing 16oz Reyes so I put on my 14oz Powerlocks and it became a huge mess from his side because mine were 14oz even though I was 35 lbs lighter and powerlocks are way safer sparring than Reyes.
My name is Marlon smith I appreciate yo time thanks
always been using 16oz gloves in training and sparring amateur fight comes 10 oz gloves are pre picked and wow, hand speed was much quicker but theres a real big difference in blocking and its something you need to get use too
That's really good to know. I never knew changing glove sizes between training and competition can have that sort of affecton on your performance. Thanks Coach V💯.
Also the sparring gloves is only for sparring !! We never use them on the heavybag
Agree 100% i use only small gloves on the heavybag 6oz or 8oz sometimes fight gloves ,i use to train with artur beterviev 90% he use very small gloves 30s 40s style on the heavybag, and he use 18oz for sparring .
Sadly most fighters can’t afford 3 sets of gear, then you got the “Spar in the Park Im tough Boys” smh. Getting hit with old torn up gloves is dangerous especially lighter gloves smh. I totally agree with what you said here. 💯💯
what makes you feel comfortable
Wsp I’m a 17 year old boxer in st. Louis Missouri gonna be 18 in 8 days but I was hopeing u can train me on the days I can go in the gym gym of course we have to do it on zoom but I need a boxer training and I want to get better and make this a career and Hopefully take it somewhere for when I make a name for myself
I’m 6,4 and 90kg. So i should have 12oz gloves for the bag?
I use 12 Oz for bag work and sparring I heard on RUclips it was all around good choice I weight 125 btw
I have to get me some bag gloves because I only have sparring gloves. I totally understand and agree with what you saying coachv 💯💪🏿👍🏿
Super informative coach v thanks for that
Hey coach, great video! Been training for over a year now. I gradually bought me more pairs of gloves. I now own 10,14,16oz I use them according to my needs makes a huge difference.
Thanks. 12 oz it is, for training, it is.
Whats up Coach been following your vids for a while now. I was wondering if you could make a video on being a business owner (Gym owner) Im a personal trainer at a Chain gym but want to have my own facility one day. If you could break down business tips how to start etc. That be dope
Hey Coach I want to be a cutman can you make a video on how I can get started? I've just been wrapping my own hands with Gauze and Tape, but I haven't wrapped anyone else's hands yet. I want to be a cutman mostly for the experience, if I can make money doing it it's just a bonus.
What if I used heavier gloves in the beginning of camp just on heavy bags and when I hit pads I go down to my recommended size. By the end of camp no more heavy gloves? Would that give me the strength and accuracy? Or is that still a waste of time?
If your 100 pounds, what gloves should you get for bag work/training and sparring?
Hey Coach V, might be a stupid question cause I'm not competing and don't plan to, but I thought competitions will provide the gloves for you? I thought for safety reasons, the fighter is not allow to bring his or her own gloves to a competition, even if the brand/model is certified by the state's boxing committee.
