    Worked for me. My 4mm tube would not stay on the printhead nozzle by itself (nozzle too short I reckon), so I held it in place. Also I removed the printhead onto my bench to make access easier. Thank you for the most excellent video. For any Australians: I found the tubing at Clark Rubber for 30 cents, syringe from discount chemist for 50c.

    The video helped me greatly w/ my Pixma 922. Thanks! I was able to get my printer unclogged and working. (Canon support in the US has just (2/20) monetized, and so I was able escape 20$/mo. support fee too.)
    Here are several short cuts I took: 1) I used isopropyl alcohol for the solvent (readily available). 2) for the tube, I used Home Depot 0.170 inner diameter tubing, (1/4” OD) ($4). This is 4.5 mm ID, but works fine. I even expanded it a bit with needle nose pliers. 3) Rather than a fancy syringe, I used an Ear/Ulcer syringe: a rubber squeeze bulb (3$) I nipped the tip off to be able to insert the tubing. 4) To pump the alcohol into the tube, I used a tiny “Refresh Optive” squeeze eye drop container into which I screwed a ball needle (1$). 5) The paper towel “diaper” sits way back, I learned :-). 6) The hardest part actually was clearing the B200 code to get the printer realizing it was now OK. I watched a video on this: Google: “How to Fix Canon Pixma Support Code B200 Error Message” It’s tricky. The key is that the printhead fidgets on the right for a while and then moves left. That’s when you must close the lid. After 10 tries, I got it to reset. For the 922 you cannot see the print head, you must listen and feel.

    This worked great! I was able to remove the printer head on my Pixma TS8020, Canon had instructions. Only my yellow was clogged, so I just put a drop of 70% isopropyl alcohol on the other ports to keep them wet and flushed the yellow like you said and rinsed, dried well and reinserted. Aquarium air tube fitted the port well.

      I read that isopropyl alcohol wasn't recommended. One American guy used window cleaner and another just warm water and dishwashing fluid. (And no it won't rust since the ink is about 80-90% water). Thoughts?

    Thank you for sharing this process along with the cleaning solution video. I was able to use my child's straw from their straws and connectors toy that I cut down and a medicine plunger. I would recommend putting a folded up paper towel underneath the cartridge housing to soak up the clogged ink. I had tried doing the regular cleaning and the deep cleaning process on my printer with no luck. It was not printing Cyan at all. When I tried your method and then did a test print -- Voila! we are able to print blue again!

    for this model printer the printhead comes out easily and quickly without tools. (i always check for this before buying a printer) at 1:17 in the video just pull on the plastic bar that displays which color of ink cartridge goes in which position on the printhead, and just pull that bar forward just a little, this bar does not come out. next reach back to the printhead and pull the entire printhead out as one unit. the print head rotates a little toward you as it comes out, there are videos that show this on youtube. watch them first.
    now you can easily drop fluid on the "port" that adapts the ink cartridge to the print head. be sure not to damage the port or "game over". no tubing needed for most cases, just a syringe or eyedropper that you don't care about (water rinse whatever you use when you are done)
    i place the print head on paper towels that are on top of cardboard, and wear some gloves. I drop drops of cleaning fluid first on the adaptor (the port that adapts the ink cartridge to the printhead) that the printer is having trouble with until that color is staining the paper towel. next I clean all the rest of them, working or not. don't skip cleaning all of them this because it prevents you from re-visiting your printhead friend again before you want to.
    let the printhead dry, put it back in the printer, put the cartridges back in, make sure it slides back and forth a little and then plug in your printer, print a nozzle test pattern and hopefully you saved some money.
    printhead problems vary, some cannot be rescued, but most can be cleaned by using the ink solvents that are commonly sold for this purpose.

      Thank You very much for contributing on out video. On our Canon Pixma 7250 the print head can not be taken out that easily. The bar which shows where each cartridge goes to can not be lifted. There are more Canon printers having that feature. Especially for those this instruction provides some help.

    regarding cleaning fluid, can alcohol do the same job?
    thx in advance

    • @octopusoffice
      @octopusoffice  2 месяца назад

      Hello Frank, thanks for Your question. The Canon printers standard inks are water based inks. For cleaning You need a cleaner that is also water based to have a good cleaning effect. Alcohol does not dissolve polutions that come from waterbased inks. It´s a different story when You are using alcohol based inks in Your printer - than alcohol would be the first choice for cleaning.

    A turkey baster is perfect for this if you take the print head out - which is really easy, - suspend it over a plastic throw up dish, and then gently squeeze and flush as recommended here. V simple and the baster nozzle is a perfect fit for the print head ports. All working again and didn't need to buy a new printer - thanks

    • @octopusoffice
      @octopusoffice  2 года назад +1

      Hello Giorgos, thanks for Your positive feedback and thoughtful question ! 👍🏻 We made our tutorial with an early model of the Pixma IP 7250 - in that model the print head was not that easy to take out - quite a number of users asked for an opportunity to clean the head inside the printer without doing the work taking the head out - that´s basically the background to out method.
      Beside that restriction taking out the print head always involves the risk in damaging the print head as it is a quite sensitive component. Cleaning inside the printer also takes away that risk.
      Again thanks for Your positivity!

      @@octopusoffice Regarding the Pixma 6850, would it be ok to take out the print head to clean it?

    • @octopusoffice
      @octopusoffice  2 года назад +1

      Hello Giorgos, thanks for coming back on our reply. The later Pixma models and newer models come with a simple lever mechanism to release the print head part from the print head compartment. When the lever is there You basically just have to lift it up and then the print head part is free to be taken out.
      When Your printer has this You can take out the print head more easily and clean it outside the printer....

  • @J21-d6k

    @ 1:25 - remove this print head (PH) from the printer to clean.
    Turn PH upside down, the white part should have 2 retaining screws on either side, these screws hold the printer head "ribbon" lower section to the PH itself.
    Carefully undo these 2 retaining screws so this section comes apart and exposes a small rubber seal, remove this and put side to clean.
    Connect the plastic pipe as shown in the vid to do the cleaning, sucking.
    Followed by pushing cleaning fluid through each color nozzle. Make sure the base where cleaning fluid is flowing out is collected on some kitchen towel and away form the rest of the PH body.
    Doing this inside the printer only means pushing dried ink residual into the reservoir, the disconnected part of the PH. The build up will get worse and it will only fail again.
    Do it once, do it thoroughly and it should be fine.

    can we use just rubbing alcohol for the solution?

    • @octopusoffice
      @octopusoffice  2 года назад

      Thanks for Your question. Usually the inks in the PIXMA printers are waterbased inks - alcohol does not dissolve such an ink. BUT it also does no harm to the printer - You can use it but it will not have a good cleaning effect. You can use purified water. This will dissolve cloggings better than the alcohol.

    Excellent presentation. But please reveal what is the "cleaning liquid?" Is it washing up detergent?

    • @octopusoffice
      @octopusoffice  5 лет назад

      Hello Nigel, legitimate question: our nozzle cleaner is based on our ink formulation - so it is a colorless ink enriched with surfacants. The benefit of the ink formulation is that You can print out the remaining cleaner after performing the cleaning procedure. So the thermal Canon print head is not damaged. When using demineralized water plus washing detergent You have to make sure to get the cleaner out of the print head as good as possible but without heating up the print head.
      Thanks for Your positive feedback!

      Hello Mark, thanks for Your question. If You do not want to flush the print head the way as demonstrated in our tutorial: You can try to set the print head´s nozzle plate on a paper towel soaked with cleaning solution. Let it sit there for a while and the cleaner works from beneath to clear the blockings. Disadvantage is that the paper towels sucks out the inks from the cartridges - but this approach is easier.

    Hello! I followed instructions in this video for my PIXMA iP7250, but when I assembled everything back and tried to print a test page, paper didn't go anymore under the printing head, but hit the print head compartment and got torn in the process. Now this happens all the time i.e. I cannot print anymore!
    I checked multiple times if a piece of kitchen towel was left there, but that was not the case.
    I am desperate - did I break something in the process? How to solve this? Thank you for any help!
    Edit: the printer prints, but after that the paper curls somehow around the print head compartment and does not exit the printer.
    Solved: I accidentally pulled the sponge ribbon used to collect excess ink out from under the plastic holders, and the paper began to hit the protruding parts of that sponge. When I pulled the sponge under all holders again, everything worked! Just for the info for anyone to have this or similar problems. ;-)

Our cleaning fluid is based on a normal ink formula - so it is not suitable for print heads that are used to print edible inks - BUT the method can be applied on print heads printing edible ink. Try to flush the print head with purified water only and afterwards flush with edible ink to get the water out of the print head again.

    The pads? at 1:24. Does anybody know where to buy replacements? Does anybody know what they are called or what materials they're made from? I'm in a pickle. Buying a replacement print head is not worth it and I don't want to trash the printer because of one part.

    what kind of fluid you used??

    • @octopusoffice
      @octopusoffice  6 лет назад +2

      Hello, thanks for Your question. We have a cleaner cleaner fluid that is based on our water based ink formula. In that we add some surfactants to speed up dissolving the cloggings and pollutions inside the print head.
      You can find the products in our video description.
      If You have nothing like that around You can also use clean, demineralised water as this is the main ingredient of water based inks. Do not mix this up with destilled water as this water still contains a certain amount of minerals. With these minerals there is the danger that they falls out inside the print head when getting contact to some materials that build up the clogging.

      It´s no shame to lack on syringe handling experience - thanks for brighten our morning with Your outstanding comment! 👍🏻 We attach one of the tubes (used for flusing the print head) to the syringe and take the cleaner fluid from the bottle into the syringe - in our humble opinion clean and easy way to do it.

    • @octopusoffice
      @octopusoffice  8 лет назад +5

      I really would like to take out the whole whole print head too. But in our Canon® Pixma IP 7250 this does not work. The print head cannot be taken out that easily. That´s why we have set up this method to clean the nozzles in the printer. Other printer models also have that setup - the print head can not be removed so easily.

    • @MrSeinfeldFan2
      @MrSeinfeldFan2 8 лет назад +3

      Well, thanks for your reply. Seems odd that you can't remove it, in a Canon printer. Just an idea, why don't you warn people in your video?... something like "Although xxx can be removed from most canon printers (details here) to clean it up... This Model does not allow it" --- That would save you a lot of time I am sure. Bye

    • @octopusoffice
      @octopusoffice  8 лет назад +4

      Yeah, we also do not like that we can not take the print head out easily as it was before with previous Canon® printer models. We assume that this is a bit of Canon´s strategy to make it more difficult to fix certain issues by yourself.

      Thanks for Your remark. I am actually fully with You! But thanks to Canon the print head in our Pixma 7250 cannot be taken out so easily. The applies to more and more recent Canon printer models.That´s why we came up with the suggestion to purge inside the printer which is faster than disassemble each time You need to clean.

    • @octopusoffice
      @octopusoffice  2 года назад

      Hello Michael, thanks for Your positive feedback and thoughtful question !

    Whats the cleaning fluid... distilled water ?

    • @octopusoffice
      @octopusoffice  8 лет назад +2

      We are using a colorless ink that inlcudes some detergents - thats our print head cleaner. Very gentle to the print head and effective towards cloggings.
      Destilled water we do not really recommend as in most cases it still contains minerals which can tend to build up tiny crystals inside the print head´s nozzles. Then You have removed one pollution and maybe build up the next one.

    • @octopusoffice
      @octopusoffice  6 лет назад

      Hello Johnny, by Your question You mean that in Your printer´s print outs lines are missing? This indicates that several nozzles in the print head are either clogges or damaged. The clogging You can solve by cleaning the print head. If the nozzles are damaged You need a new print head.

      Vielen Dank für das Feedback. Wir sind dran in unsere Druckkopfreinigersets auch ein Stück Schlauch als Ausstattung beizufügen.
      Gelangt etwas Luft in den Druckkopf ist das prinzipiell auch kein Problem, allerdings dauert dann die Wiederbefüllung des Druckkopfes mit Tinte nach Einsetzen der Patronen länger.

      Ach so ok. Also habe ich jetzt keinen Katastrophalen Ausfall zu erwarten? Der Drucker druckt nämlich an sich wieder, nur ist die Schrift (also z.B. ein DHL Aufkleber) manchmal etwas unscharf.

    • @octopusoffice
      @octopusoffice  8 лет назад

      Verwenden Sie eine pigmentierte Tinte in der schwarzen, breiten Textdruckpatrone? Desweiteren hat das bedruckte Papier einen großen Einfluss auf die Randschärfe von von Text. Günstige Papiere mit langen Fasern führen zum Verlaufen der Tinten, dies fällt besonders bei Textdruck auf.

    • @der-andyman
      @der-andyman 8 лет назад

      Ja, ich habe die Tinte bei Ihnen gekauft, ist ein Canon Pixma MG5450 mit diesen Fill in Patronen und Auto reset chips.
      Als Papier benutze ich dieses HP Weiße Papier mit 80 g/m², das ist an sich ein "dickes" Normalpapier.

    • @octopusoffice
      @octopusoffice  8 лет назад

      +Andreas Kötter Bitte drucken Sie nicht in einem Sparmodus. Für einen optimalen Druck empfehlen wir den Druck mit hoher Qualität - durch den Druck mit der passenden Refilltinte halten sich die Mehrkosten auch in einem vertretbaren Rahmen.

    • @octopusoffice
      @octopusoffice  8 лет назад +1

      +Dirim Daram
      Hello,
      the IP 2850 uses cartridges with an integrated printhead. That means the print head is built into the cartridge directly. If You have problems related to clogged nozzles in the printhead in these cartridges, You can take out the cartridge and soak the printhead in some print head cleaner fluids for a while. You can put a small amount of the cleaner into a bowl. Make sure that just the nozzle plate is covered by the cleaner, do not fill that much cleaner that the electrical contacts of the cartridge are covered too.

    • @octopusoffice

      The error code 1410 on Your Canon Pro-100 means that an ink cartridge is not recognized. A possible reason could be that the chip on that cartridge is damaged. In that case You need a new cartridge.

      :-) At our Pixma 7250 - an early printer of that model - the print head cannot be removed that easily as we have been used to from other Pixma models. Some users unfortunately damaged their print head when following the more complex way of taking out the print head for such models. So we came up with that workaround.
