So, it’s February 2024 and I have just taken my Epson WF 7610 out of storage where it’s been sitting unused for THREE YEARS. Amazingly it still printed (poorly) with black ink, but the CMY had all dried up. I changed the cartridges and it would print NOTHING but black. I tried everything I could find to remedy the situation and nothing worked. Until I found your video today. Amazing, just amazing, that Windex can save my printer. After only about an hour of soaking the heads with Windex we are back in business. Thanks again!
BEST and ONLY Fix I have found for Epson 4540. I scoured the internet and watched a bunch of videos, including ones where you disassemble the entire printer. In 5 minutes this fixed my printer. Thanks Jose. Subscribed and liked.
***** IT WORKS!!!!!!!! Jose gave us all the tools of knowledge on how a printer's inkjet works and what the common issues are and how to fix it yourself when possible! And I appreciate you teaching us! My 10yr old son and I were able to use the Windex method and within 30min or so we had it back to printing like brand new again!!! Woo-hoooooo!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Jose!!! Ok I fully realize this video is at least 4yrs old but still VERY relevant to what I am dealing with right now. I am just now going through the first least invasive step of wetting the paper towel with windex and letting it sit. Crossing my fingers this works! I am SO bummed that my black ink has virtually stopped working, pretty much a light grey at this point. It is a new printer I bought a few months ago too! I was using daily until this pandemic struck our planet and I all but stopped using my printer for a whole week and now it's apparently clogged! So irritating, but I am grateful for your video and hopefully I will be back in business soon!! Hope you are doing well and anyone reading this during this pandemic is healthy and safe. *** I will report back how this works so that other's know who are dealing with a similar issue as me.
Wow, amazing help! I had not used my Epson C88 for a least 1 year and it was completely clogged on all the color channels. When I ran a nozzle check sheet it was completely blank. I then patiently used Jose's procedure with the Windex paper towel strips (about 7 times) until hardly no ink was showing up on the strips. When I first started the black ink was prevalent and then as I progressed splotches of cyan, magenta, and yellow started to show up on the strips, so I knew the nozzles were starting to unclog. I periodically ran some nozzle checks and noticed the colors were gradually starting to show up on the paper. I then ran a few clean head cycles and "bam" everything was hitting on all the color channels. I printed some color articles and I'm amazed how this printer came back to life like a new inkjet printer. Thanks again for your help!
Thank you so much for posting this video! I thought my Epson XP-640 printer was destined for the trash can. As a last resort I decided to see if I could fix it. I followed your exellent tutorial and doing so restored my printers' performance good as new, saving me money and preventing more e-waste. So now I follow your advice to print often and don't let the printer sit unused. Thanks again.
...Well ...Do NOT Mess with the Wise One ... I listened carefully ...Did exactly what you repeated...Paid attention to every single word...and you know what ?!?!?!... ...IT WORKS...!!!... I am one happy camper... will print religiously from now on... will not let that thing go by again... took all the time ( 2 days with nights )... Works Like when it was New..... So very important here... I need to tell you ...THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE... I do understand it did not come in free for you...So for all people watching this...If you want to fix it... Pay attention...This man spend a lot of his time to be able to settle this into 2 days of lazy work ... Thank You Mister Jose Rodriguez...!!! ...
Thank you so much. I struggled to get any colors to print, I cleaned the heads, I primed, I printed hundreds of papers and still nothing worked. Finally I stumbled on this 5 yr old video and my printer Epson 2720 now prints perfectly.
Thank you very much, I was able to get very good results. I will clean once more soon and print once a week at least, this video is so underrated and you have probably saved people throughout the world thousands of dollars or more.
Hello Sir. I spent $2700 for a Epson SureColor F570 24" Pro Sublimation Printer. I was starting my on T-Shirt print company but bought piece by piece over a year. I use this printer to test it out, but stored it way until 3 days ago. Well, as you can guess…it was completely clogged after sitting “brand new” with ink in the lines for 11 months. I tried your cleaning technique and because I have a lot of patience (as you say is required), I stayed at for 3 days straight and finally today my nozzle check came out perfect! I am a nationally known autism advocate for kids and will tell any and everyone I can about you. You have saved me a lot of money, thank you sir! Vee
This channel has rescued my P800. It took four days to recover from months of zero use, including total blockage on four of 8 channels.I have used a whole bottle of window cleaner, lots of paper towel and lots of ink BUT I now have a perfect nozzle check pattern and have successfully made a print. I will now start watching the videos on how to improve my printing!
Hi Nigel, I currently have 2 blocked nozzles that are completely blocked on my Epson SC P900, which part of this video helped most? I have currently only done 1 windex treatment with no luck :/
@@omarumanzor8087I used a whole bottle of cleaner so I probably did 10 plus cleaning cycles. Progress was visible every time, but perfection took a while.
It worked!! I have watched 5 other videos and NO ONE mentioned cleaning with Windex!! I have an office All-In-One Canon MB2320 that was replaced 6 months ago by a Brother printer. It was taken to another office yesterday, so I pull out the old Canon MB2320. It showed full ink, but after numerous attempts, it would not print. You showed the simple Windex cleaning technique, and it worked! Thank you steve
Thank you Richard I've gotten great reviews and I've gotten rotten reviews on this video I'm glad you appreciated it. Everything I do is detailed and concise and probably information overload but I prefer to do that to prevent you the viewer from having any questions after watching a video. I've been accused of being too long-winded and not getting to the point. But I do think short attention span syndrome is running rampant this day and age.
I am an abuser of printers. 🙁 I have an Epson WF-645 that goes many months at a time without use. I have several set of cartridges that are many years old. They are kind of working. But I seem to have to do head cleanings and nozzle checks every time I use them. Would they be too old? The yellow isn’t putting out anything at all. I will take your advice and print something every few days, once I get the heads working again. Thanks so much for the video!
Thank you for the advice! I left a paper towel strip, dampened with windex, under my ink cartridges over night. I did a Nozzle check and then printed afterwards and it worked! I haven't used my printer in probably 2 years... so I will definitely listen to your advice on using my printer much more!
Great informative video. I tried cleaning with the paper towel about three or four times with no success. I then left the soaked towel over night, cleaned it in the morning, did a nozzle check - perfect and printed pictures absolutely perfect. Obviously the overnight trick does the business. Thank you once again..
My Epson Stylus Photo R220 printer did not come back to life from anything I have done to unclog the print heads. Still the same pattern with nozzle checks no matter what method I used to unclog the nozzles. I'm convinced now my printer has probably reached it's end of life after 17 years. No doubt your how to videos have restored many printers for their owners. Thanks for sharing your expertise and experience.
I want to thank you so much for sharing this video for free! Your technique fixed my problem very quickly and I promise I will use my printers more!! Your passion shines through in this video. I am always in awe of people with so much expertise in an area that I would have never thought to explore. Thank you!!
This video was such a big help. I bought a late model open box Epson from a computer store that had obviously been used because the ink cartridges were already in it and there was paper in it. I didn't think about clogged print heads from sitting, which based on the dustiness had been awhile. I was able to get the magenta, cyan, and yellow to work but nothing at all would come out of the black. Didn't even take a whole day for the black to start discharging onto the paper towel. And bonus the magenta, cyan, and yellow have really discharged onto the paper towel as well. Videos like this is what makes RUclips so great. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I was so upset and frustrated because this printer has been nothing but a hassle to get set up properly and I thought I had wasted my time and money for nothing.
Followed your instructions and got my printer working again after sitting unused for over a year! Thankful for this method...no cleaning kit necessary. Much appreciated!
Incredibly helpful ! My clogged heads were totally due to sporadic usage and I love how you emphasized this so for future reference I will run printer at least 3 times a week; meanwhile my Epson ET-2750 cleared up brilliantly with the Windex/ paper towel solution with 2 cycles. Every other video I watched had a product to sell and started with the way more complicated and labor intensive syringe based cleaning which was entirely unnecessary. Thank you Jose and stay safe and healthy!!
I tried this method for my Epson 645 and it made it print again. I so appreciated the passive method as I was worried about attempting the more invasive syringe method. I also appreciated your honest comment about it being my own fault :-). I'll remember to use it more regularly in the future. Thanks Jose!
What a great video. I was just about to throw out my printer. After following your instructions my printer was as good as new. I never realised you need to use your printer regularly. I now print a test page regularly. Thank you so much.
I appreciate the time you have spent in making these videos, and helping the printing community. I have watched a lot of those videos, still have some to go through. So, I finally tried resetting the printing properties on my Canon TS9120 printer based on some of your suggestions, like when you were doing an Epson & Canon's settings. I even was to find the montage picture you suggested. Well after resetting everything, the picture came out white a 'bluish corroded copper' look, the face coloring were completely all very wrong. At this point I wanted to throw up and maybe get another printer completely. But after breakfast this morning and settling back down at the printer, started going back over things. Then remembered this video. Printhead Clogs, well I did more than that. After removing the cartridges and then the printhead, took the printhead to sink, ran really hot water over both side of the printhead. Took the printhead down to garage and used the dog's heated air blower (helps in removing loose hair from the dogs). Now the printhead is clean & dry, re-install it, put ink cartridges back in, did a "Cleaning" from the printer's menu, and then a test page. What a change cleaning the printhead had made. Re-printed your picture, it turned out as yours had, well maybe not as exactly as yours but close enough for my use. Thanks for your help.
Your tips helped me, thank you. I just wanted to add that for moderate blockage, what just worked for me is instead of doing the whole syringe procedure, I removed the ink cartridges and cleaned them from the top with Windex on cotton swabs. It was quick and the Epson is back to perfect prints.
Very informative, thank you. However, I have one suggestion...please show us what to do as you explain the steps. Some of us, like myself, have never done this type of printer cleaning. I, like most people are, am a graphic learner, I need to see exactly what to do. Explaining is great, but we really need to see also...
I have a playlist that covers that though it is for a small R340 all applies to larger printers. " How to Revive a Printer " And I also do a full demo on the R2000 and the PR3800 Quick search through any of my over 60 subject related playlist will lead to anything you want to learn. ruclips.net/video/wRZU1_XD7xE/видео.html ruclips.net/video/KAn0CnvQMp8/видео.html
Windex ... who knew! Many thanks for sharing your printer head-cleaning knowledge. My 12+ year-old Epson 3880 Pro was just recently starting to bleed black ink on all prints. After running the Epson nozzle checks and head cleaning utilities many times the printer was still showing a plugged black-ink nozzle. All it took was one application of Windex on paper towel to clear the plugged nozzle. You saved my printer ... many thanks.
OMG you saved my printer. I was just about to buy a new one. lol the ink cartridge was $40 and honestly, this printer has been giving me all sorts of headaches for the last two years I was so ready to just toss the whole printer and get a new one for the price of a cartridge.
Jose! I love ya man! Four years since I used my Epson. The paper and Windex along with your instructions and three changes of soaked paper towel did the trick. Amazing. Thank you so very much.
This fixed it! My Black ink on my Epson XP-620 hasn't printed correctly for a long time and I just thought I had bought bad ink. After watching this video, I spent 10 minutes running my print heads over Windex soaked paper towels and it worked! It printed beautifully on the first attempt after the treatment. Gracias Jose!
Thank you for the videos you produce on printing and printer care. I have come back repeatedly to your channel when I have questions about my Canon MX882. I have learned to refill my carts, how to care for it and developed the confidence to print and play without worry of it costing a lot. Today I finally cleaned the print head because of a clog that would not go away. Now clog free and getting ready to print a portfolio for a job interview! Thank you again for the passion, knowledge and work that you put into sharing the information for us DIY home printer people.
Thanks for the excellent videos, I've learned a great deal from them. I have an Epson XP860 which I failed to print with for too long and have been trying to clear my Cyan head. I'm down to two segments left. Rather than using a lot of cleaner and ink, could I add some Piezo Flush to the cyan cart along with the ink and proceed with printing normally(don't care about print quality) to hopefully clear the last two segments? I've already gone through the procedures you describe. Thanks
I rarely leave comments but just had to say that this saved me in a pinch! Thank you so much, your knowledge is appreciated. My pro-1000 was having problems due to clogs (I print infrequently, but when I do I print A LOT). The windex on paper towel worked amazingly well.
This works so brilliantly, you are a superstar. Thanks to your video, I now understand why my printer stopped working properly (I don't use it enough). The ink had dried rock hard on the black nozzle. Cleaned it using the paper towel and window cleaner as per your instructions - it now works superbly - can't thank you enough. Top man, you've saved me a fortune and given me the best feeling in the world - repairing something that you thought was broken and bin ready and getting it back to like new. Top marks
Thanks to your method I was able to fix my woefully neglected Epson Sure Color P600. It had been months since I had printed (bad owner!). Nozzle check revealed clogs in various colors, especially vivid magenta which was nearly fully clogged. I repeatedly went through the nozzle check/cleaning cycle and let it sit overnight in hopes the clog would be sucked out. There was improvement in most of the colors but vivid magenta was printing one speck. Due to corona virus shutdown here, I didn’t think a repair shop would be open, so I searched and found your instructional video. I wasn’t going anywhere during this time, so I tried your Windex with ammonia-D paper towel method all day long (more than 12 hours). I used a very, very old bottle of Windex with Ammonia-D (it had a faint smell of ammonia) that was lying around. I re-wet the paper towel every hour if not more often, moved the print head to a clean section each time and replaced the paper towel when needed. I ran a nozzle check and everything was printing except vivid magenta which now didn’t print anything. My heart sank thinking it would require more drastic methods. Next, I ran a cleaning cycle and then a nozzle check during which time I was thinking I had gotten what I deserved for being so neglectful. Lo and behold, the nozzle check revealed that all the print nozzles were working perfectly! Thank you. Jose, for your helpful video. I did see your later posting about not using Windex but I thought I might as well give your Windex with ammonia-D as I had that available and felt it was worth a try. I vow to not neglect my printer again. Again, thanks.
Again my printer clogged and I tried to fix it. Everything got "worse" the more I tried. :-( I tried this procedure and attempted to clear the clog I was getting on the cyan only to make things worse. Nothing was improving after several attempts with reapplying the cleaning fluid. Still nothing improved but only got worse. I tried the paper towel soaked with windex and pushed the print-head over it several times, leaving it sit for several hours and overnight. Nothing improved. I remember you said to use “new” ink cartridges at the end of your video. Print test failed and I didn’t see “any” lines. I listened to what you said in the video again and again; this time I heard you say “continue doing this and to be patient, it will clear”. Another day pasted and I cleaned the heads “again” with the solution several times. Finally the cyan printed but no others. I did the printer’s {print head cleaning} opt again and again, then ran a {nozzle check} and this time the back and all the colors printed. Thank you again for the video & “YES” be patient, it WORKS. ----->>> BE PATIENT
It worked on a totally blocked black, and the colors, overnight, on a Epson 400 that had been unused for months because now have Epson Eco printers, but this one is still good to keep for just some general printing. Thank you so much Jose. GENIOUS!! Will be sure to print something several times a week from now on.
Thank you Jose! this is very helpful. I have a question. I am letting the paper towel set under the print head , do i keep the inks in for this or take them out? also do we need to change the papertowel after an hour of setting if it is full of ink? thank you
You keep everything in. Yes change the paper towel and run a cleaning cycle followed by a nozzle check. I you show an improvement from the last nozzle check but still not perfect repeat the paper towel application. LOTS of Patience is the key here. It might take days! Once you solve it the way to prevent it is to print at least two to three times a week. What the printer companies will NOT tell you is that inkjet printer need to be used, ideally almost daily! That is why they incorporate cleaning cycles in the design.
Thank you for putting this up! I have a P400 that I hadn't used in a year. Previously I'd tried cleaning the printheads several times over a couple days but it was maddening. The Cyan would come back then the Magenta would disappear. Then after more cleanings the Magenta came back then the Yellow disappeared. It was like they programmed it to do that. I probably spent $80 of ink and it never all cleared up. But this time I followed your advice and cleaned only once a day or so. So after three weeks and 12 cleanings believe it or not it's all good. The orange didn't come up until it ran out and I replaced the cartridge. Suddenly, after another cleaning or two, it was back. I think it helps that the humidity is up the last few summer days. I never did the Windex thing. It may have saved me the almost $100 I spent on wasted ink but I was nervous to try it.
Sir, thank you so much for making this video! Its absolutely gold to hear a someone with so much knowledge on a subject describe the ins and outs of it. You can tell you know what you are talking about and thats what i love so much about my elders
Thanks so much for this! I was just about to toss out a 1 year old epson xp-310 that stopped printing black. I used your tip and it worked like a charm. Thanks a million!
Thanks for your video from some years ago. I have a problem with a recently purchased Epson R280 for which your help would be greatly appreciated. I purchased a new R280 recently through an EBAY vendor. I have two other R280s that I've been using over the years; therefore, I'm familiar with nozzle checks and head cleaning. Please forgive me if the questions I'm asking have been addressed by you in this video, or one of your other videos. It's hard to search the comments for keywords/phrases. The problem I'm having with this one is printing the wrong colors. Nozzle checks show full lines but with the wrong colors in some sections. The yellow section has some black lines and light cyan lines. The black section has some black lines at the top, but light cyan toward the bottom lines. The light magenta is mostly light cyan lines. When I do a head cleaning I temporarily get more correct colors in the correct sections, but with time the sections become corrupted with the wrong color. My belief is that the print head is bad, and some internet research shows that these print heads are prone to printhead "delamination", which lets the colors mixed in the printhead. My theory is that when I do a head cleaning it pulls lots of the mixed (corrupted) colors out of the printhead, allowing for the correct colors into the printhead, and a timely nozzle check will show mostly the correct colors with no missing lines. (temporarily) I am using reusable cartridges, which I have also been successfully using for some years on two other Epson R280s. Does my theory sound reasonable? Is there something I can try to correct this? If I'm on the right track, would you happen to have a link to where I can get a printhead for a reasonable price? I talked to Epson and they considered it an equipment failure, but since I purchased through a 3rd party (EBAY), they can't provide a direct warranty.
This really saved the day! It is kind of messy, so wear gloves. I moved the printer head every hour for a a whole afternoon to a cleaner spot on the paper towel, and changed the paper towel several times. Then I let it sit overnight, took out the towel, Put another dry towel in to soak up the moisture. I had no ink at all at the beginning and my printer was making a horrible sound. The sound went away too. I think the 108 degree temps in Seattle this past month reeked havoc. Thanks so much! My Epson XP-810 is alive!
Jose, thought you could use a good laugh today, anyway my husband and I went out to Target today and bought $40.00 ink cartridge and then proceeded to put into our Epson XP 434 after having been in storage for 2years, needless to say it did not work 🤣 We sure wish we would have watched your videos first!!! Love how you explain everything And also how gentle you are in scolding us, Thank you I have now learned to use and print Our new printer a lot more often at least every 60 hours!!!!
Thank you! The windex and paper towel technique worked really well. Our printer didn't print the Cyan color at all, so I figured it must be clogged. All other videos online were asking for a full disassembly of my printer or buying some solution to inject. Yours was an easy process with supplies I had laying around my house. I appreciate the guidance. Printer is working like new.
Jose, i used this method but now when I plug the printer in the printhead doesnt return to home position i can head it banging, then get unable to clean message. open the scan bed and the printhead is not locked into place, i can move it freely. no debris or pieces of paper towel suggestions?
Thank you so much!!!! I have an Epson WF-2530 and have had it for years. I had just used it a few days ago and knew that black ink was low, but just wanted to use it real quick and it would only print a blank paper. I put the new ink in and ran nozzle checks, and head cleanings and still nothing. Ended up having to replace all other inks and still no black print. I cleaned the heads with alcohol (got that idea from web) and nothing. Was very upset because could not find another inexpensive printer that I could buy that uses the 200 ink (because my ink was brand new). Came across your video and read the rave of how thankful people were, so I gave it one last shot. And after 5 hours, I was able to print the documents that I needed from this morning! Again, THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS INFORMATION!!!!! WHAT A LIFESAVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the wealth of information. You’ve provided a much less costly method of cleaning print heads. The procedure you talked about is simple and easy with little or no additional items to buy. Yes - the video is a little long but the information I’ve listened to that you gave is valuable. Lesson learned here is to print more often and don’t leave the inkjet printers sit for long periods of time. Thanks a million!
Hello Jose. You emphasized ammonia being one of ingredients in Windex and at 8:04 you mentioned that fumes alone dissolve the dry ink inside the nozzles. Is it fumes that are caused by ammonia? In my country I can't seem to find window cleaning solutions that contain ammonia in their ingredients.
It worked very well on my Epson L6190 with colors clogged for several months (so been using for printing black only). Had to repeat the process 20 times or so, but well worth the time and effort as Epson Service Center is far from home. Thanks a million for making this tutorial, by far the best I have found on this topic 🤩🤗
Great video I own ThePhotoStore and am currently running a Noritsu Green IV epson based tube feed which has done 640k prints, it has had two heads due to clashes, we came in after a two day weekend and you guessed it, we had to do a dozen head cleans, next Monday same thing after 1 day off, been a huge struggle to bring it back, tech ran a service mode 2 head clean and nozzle check went full white and left reccomending head, I persisted, soaked and cleaned and charged the lines in service mode and got it all back but magenta in the lower head but I flushed the magenta tank in the lower head and suspect I have air in there as it is tube feed and the ink cartridge is lower, I like the sound of the cleaning solution, I am going to charge the head and line with a syringe and crimping... if that does not work I will try the cleaning solution, I think my capping station is worn but will modify it myself, FYI I ordered a new D1060 Duplex so will have some breathing space to get it going, phew been on dyesub and wide format all week, appreciate your video, print some photos ;)
A nozzle head is still plugged on my Epson p900 after reaped cleaning cycles. Can Iuse the windex technique to unplug. It worked like a charm on my old 3800. Also I travel often for 2 or more months a year is there anything i can do to prevent nozzle plugging while my p900 is not in use?
Jose, Love your detailed discussion. I have a question on an R1900. I admit it set for almost a year and it had some clogs but they cleared after several cleaning sessions. The test print from cleaning shows no gaps and the black and white image is black and white. But, here is my issue any print B/W or color prints with a cyan cast. I have photoshop elements set to manage colors and the R1900 ICM set to off so the printer doesn't manage colors. No matter what setting I use it always prints a cyan color cast. The test page showed the cyan printing normal. If you print a B/W image shouldn't the color cartridges be turned off and only the PK and MK cartridges active? If so why is the printed image full of cyan. The Cyan Cartridge in the printer is an LD branded cart. I have ordered a new one from another company to see if it is the cartridge. I have also printed the same B/W image from other apps. These prints show varying degrees of cyan tint but always a cyan tint. I appreciate any advice on this?
@JoseRodriguez thank for all the informative information you provided us all with in printers your knowledge and wisdom is so valuable and helpful thank again. I have only one question do I have to rinse out the printer head before I reinstall into my Canon pixma pro-100 printer
Thank you for this video! I have an Epson XP 15000 that doesn't release ink when printing. I can get the colors to come back with this technique and doing cleaning cycles and eventually the black but then the next day it's back to not printing. I use this printer often so I don't understand why I'm getting clogs.
My Epson WF-7610 wouldn't print black or color. I tried everything from injecting a cleaner, running the head cleaner and using new ink but it still wouldn't print. Then I found your video and I did the paper towel/windex method 4 or 5 times and it started printing both black and color!!! Thank you for very much for taking the time to make your video and sharing your knowledge.
One of the most incredible videos I have ever seen! Chock full of vital information. Truly inspirational; I look forward to seeing Jose on TED talks. Except the title is wrong. It should be "How to identify a clogged head."
My printer went up the chuff again !! Searched out this video that I watched 3 years ago, applied the same methods and hey presto, printer working fine again - cheers buddy, really appreciate it
Hello- thanks for your excellent videos and channel. I have a Pixma Pro-10, which I made the mistake of not using much during the peak of the pandemic due to work commitments- I live also in Utah and the printer is located in a room that is unheated and quite dry (low temp in winter gets to about 50F in that room sometimes), which I’m sure made things worse. I cannot afford to buy a new printhead as they are now several hundred dollars, and cannot justify a new printer. I have therefore been doing the deep cleaning with windex plus alcohol and water DIY solution for several days now (with breaks). However the little oval (sponge?) absorbent piece that is part of the print head for the PBK and GY heads stills seems to leach out ink after several washes; the others are mostly done and occasionally the cyan will show some blue ink tinges. Any advice as to how long I should keep doing this? Do I need to wait until all the heads appear white/ unstained with ink? Or is the head beyond salvage? Thanks?
Hey bro, thank you for your informative instructions and tips. You have saved me buying another printer. I followed your instructions and after much patience & cleaning the print head in printer and running cleaning and deep cleaning cycles the print head has unblocked itself. Thank you. God bless you.🙏
I am so happy I found you ! You saved me with the windex treatment!!! It worked perfectly after trying other suggestions! Thank You! You also did a great job of walking me thru the process!
It actually worked! I was worried bec I really need to print my kids activities for home school and then I saw 1 video saying Im gonna flush it with a syringe using a solution that I have to buy and that means im gonna wait for weeks to be shipped to me. I was like oh c'mon this cant be then i tried reading on the comments and someone puts your link. It was a relief that the materials is just something we have at home so I tried. I only did 1 process and voila! I am able to print! You are amazing! Thank you so much!
Mr. Rodriguez- I have a Canon TS9521c printer. It has started to make horizontal lines on my pictures. I have done nozzle checks, deep cleaning, test pages, head alignment, and the lines are still showing up in my prints. What can I do. Also, the prints are looking faded. No vibrant colors. The cartridges are full. So, I guess it's two issues- the horizontal lines and faded pictures. Should I buy the Piezo Flush? I am at a loss. I bought it in 2019. Thank you.
I see your programs all the time. You seems to to be a top expert. Can you answer me a question I cant find answerers anywhere. I have Epson 9800. Since the time I have it I had intermittent problem with magenta. It prints 30% less magenta on every image. However, the head is clean. Nozzle check fids nothing all boxes are printed. The Magenta is genuine from Epson. I used different gammas and saturation, results are the same
Hiii great tips..tq very much I have 1 question... Like u said.. if u cannot inject windex through the hole..stop immediately.. so how do we fix that..
I’ll try your method. I’m about to give up with my Epson 3640… I bought it from someone else and the print quality is horrendous. The only thing I knew about was the nozzle cleaning system (which never fixed the problem) and my ink was gone very quickly. Fingers crossed, I’ll try it. How many times do I do the Windex soaked paper? Thank you!
my xp600 print head new only printed 3 months now its not printing anymore ,head is not clogged in any way ,when doing an flush it doesn't spurt ink out of head and not making the ticking sound while spurting. head is not damaged in any way what went wrong on head so that i can fix it.
Thanks. I had an amazing Brother MFC-J220 working without a single clog for about 7 years using CISS cheap bulk ink bottles (4x100ml for $15). I didn't need to worry about the printer being idle for weeks or months, it just kept doing self-cleaning by itself. I noticed it many times being in the room that it suddenly starts making noise for several minutes without printing anything. It doesn't have a small chip onto the ink cartridges so it accepts any ink. Sadly, it got fried by a continuous electric jolt (410v instead of 230v) and died. Few months ago I bought a Canon Maxify MB-2140 which causing me lots of pain as it keeps clogging the head using the same ink bottles used in last Brother printer. I removed the entire head and cleaned it and now it has clogged again. It seems that Brother print heads are less sensitive than Canon's. Also this Canon does not do self-cleaning cycles at all unlike Brother. My next printer will be Brother.
@@cheo1949 Thanks for the reply. Would you please (1) give me a link to an online store that sells a reasonably priced quality ink for my Canon and (2) although the genuine ink is pigment based (PGI-1400), what would you recommend for it: Dye or Pigment? because what I know is that Dye is universal meaning you can use Dye on Dye & Pigment based printers and not vice versa. And (3) what is the shelf life for inks. Thank you.
Hi Jose - just did another windex cleaning then head cleaning and printed CMYK page. Now: - C is a "little better" (a few more lines filled in) - Y is way better - almost solid - M is better (more lines filled in) - B is better (more lines filled in than M, but not quite solid) I am going to put another towel with Windex and leave it overnight (if I have enough patience).... Jim
I converted my wf 2630 to sublimation with chipless tanks. My magenta and cyan are giving a perfect nozzle check. Black and yellow are not printing. Any suggestions
Jose ! I wish you were my neighbour…… ! Very interesting & detailed. I had no idea about any of this ! What is the name of the special pink fluid, to replace the cartridges with ? (I am thinking of going straight to that as I not well & cannot concentrate at the moment or stand frustration at the moment) ….. Also I presume I should discard the partial used cartridges , & replace with new ones ? Thanks ( from SW France 🖖🖖🖖
I have Question for you? I have a canon mx922 prints great except for the fact that the page in off set from the top and bottom the sides are okay. the print is about 1/4 in more on the top than the bottom so that 1/4 in looks like a 1/2 different wider on one side. I recently remove the printer to clean for error I had. that is fixed but now up and down in not centered what can I do thank you for your reply
I follow Canon's procedure for fixing my MP 560 printer. I also follow the above several time and still a problem On the nozzle check I am getting a vertical off white space on line 20 of the top multiple squares and on the rest of the colors two off white line using the square boxes as a reference the line would be in box 23 and 25. This until the bottom back color and it goes to one line at box 27 Any ides or is a new print head called for . Please let me know Thanks
Jose I have a problem with a Pixma Pro 10S have removed all the ink carts and flushed the head and still have a clog on the Grey cartridge. Windex is not available in the UK what could I do in replacement? I would buy a new print-head but would like to make sure that is the last option. Your knowledge would help greatly.
Windex amd othe cleaners work on EPSON printers. Not so much on thermal based print heads such as used by Canon printers. In other words if the channel is permanently damaged due to continual printing when it began to clog, no amount of cleaning is going to fix it. A new rint head willbsove it and printing often are will prevent future problems.
Awesome Videos excellent information in every one i have watched! i do have a question though. i recently cleared a rather stubborn head clog on my pixma pro-100 printed 6 glorious sheets with full coverage and not so much as a blemish. then printer sat for a day and the first print on the second day almost all heads appeared to be clogged. what would cause this, I checked the levels of the cartridges and there was plenty of ink in the reservoir. I did a couple of regular clean cycle and the cyan is being stubborn. what is a likely cause of this?
What do I do to prep a printer prior to taking an extended time away (months)? I have to wf3640's, one in NY (new last year) and one in Florida, (2 yrs old). My NY one, now after 8 months away, the M and Y do not print at all, B and C are spotty, after several cleaning and pattern prints. Please help. Fresh ink dis no good. I'm going to windex/pad route next. Thanks for that video.
hello I love watching you explain everything so well. I have done about 20 cleanings I am dealing with blue printing purple and streaks . Epson 1400 any suggestions
Have you done a nozzle check? That will immediately show you what color channel is affecting your output. Do you refill? It might be the carts not providing the proper level of ink flow. Do you print OFTEN as recommended or not. That would create clogs. The 1400 is considered quite old and could be developing problems simply due to age.
@@cheo1949 it now is saying "parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life" I was just watching you video "Epson Printer Adjustment programs" video. Kind of thinking it may be from so many cleanings because i did have a clog in the blue. I stored it for 3 months with the pink and blue where clogged i think they may be unclogged i also used your video to do that so you are Awesome. Hoping this works
I have allwin e-180 s eco solvent printer suddenly i saw my magenta nozzle have many block besides when i run my printer magenta is dropping other colour so whats the solution from this?
Hallo Mr Rodrigues. Thanks for your videos. I have HP Officejet PRO 8600. Problem is, it was given to me by my daughter from her shop and it was not printing a year. Ofcourse, it does not print. Do you thing it is stil possible to make it work? I like the printer, it has Legal size and both sides printing, it onli gives me message "there is a problem with the printer or ink system. I am sure it is ink system, it work till the end of her usage. Now all cartgidges are empty. What do you think? Thanks.
I do not use HP as they do not make consumer photo printers which is what I only work with. Their print heads are thermal just like CANON and they wear out as they are used and go south after not using for a long time.
Thank you Mr Rodrigues. My ážéé is gone. What printer would you recommend to buy? I have a lot of photos and would like to print them. You are right, my HPS do not do good job.
I have a Canon PixmaMG6620 that my wife used, One minute she got a beautiful copy of Christmas songs, the next minute the page came out totally white, not a spec of any color. I did the cleaning and deep cleaning several times to no avail. I removed the printhead and flushed with hot water until the water coming out was clear. I dried it totally and tried nozzle checks etc. no color at all on the page! Any help would be greatly appreciated, I love this printer!
Thank you very much Jose for this excellent tutorial. I made the big mistake of letting my Epson R1900 sit for an extended period! When I first did a nozzle check, most were not printing. I brought it back using a combination of cleaning cycles and your methods. Still the Red print head printed nothing. I had to use your method of applying cleaning solution gently with a syringe as you described. It gradually returned to normal after a few more cleaning cycles. Now the problem has returned with the red channel. Any ideas of what is going on? All other heads are printing perfectly. I've gone through a whole set of cartridges in the meantime. Getting expensive! 🙁
My nozzle checks are perfect after cleaning, However, when I go to print out a document it prints perfect for the first half page, then begins to fade gradually until, at the end of the page, nothing is printed (Black Cart only). Dozens of cleanings, some deep, same results. STRANGE! Any suggestions
4 years later this paper towel method helped me bring life back to my 4-year-old printer... excellent tip!!
Good luck! And please so share your results.
Thank You Mister Jose Rodriguez...!!! ...
Great Comment you sounds like a really Good Man !
Thank you Sir. Please spread the word!

Awesome.
@@nigelatkinson2939 thank you! Will start the process tonight.
Thank you

I want to tell you that this is one of the best instructional videos I’ve seen. Clear, concise and well presented and explained. Thanks.
I have to agree! I was able to follow without actually seeing him do this on a printer😍
Awesome to hear that.
Thank you!!
Thank you.
Well done sir. Your coaching and conversational style, combined with your knowledge, kept me tuned in, thank you, Jon
Followed your instructions and got my printer working again after sitting unused for over a year! Thankful for this method...no cleaning kit necessary. Much appreciated!
Thank you for donating your time to people so they can learn. It's very generous of you. God Bless!
Thank you Benny, I appreciate that!
@@cheo1949 Thank you sir, you've helped me as well. Happy holidays to you and yours.
Awesome! Thank you!
I tried this method for my Epson 645 and it made it print again. I so appreciated the passive method as I was worried about attempting the more invasive syringe method. I also appreciated your honest comment about it being my own fault :-). I'll remember to use it more regularly in the future. Thanks Jose!
Glad you got it working again. Remember to print more often and it will never happen again.
" How to Revive a Printer " And I also do a full demo on the R2000 and the PR3800

Windex ...
Glad to hear it.
Thanks you!
Thanks for the video! Does the paper towel have to make physical contact with the print head or does it just hover above? Thank you.
It contacts the underside of the printhead. Be carefull. Only do this irregular cleaning cycles don't clear out a clog.
AVOID!

Top marks
Great story and I am very happy to have been of help!
Wonderful tip, thanks. Should you remive the ink cartridges first? How many times should you do this, until there is no more gunk on the paper towel?
I love a success story. Thank you for sharing that.
Again my printer clogged and I tried to fix it. Everything got "worse" the more I tried. :-(
I tried this procedure and attempted to clear the clog I was getting on the cyan only to make things worse.
Success!
It worked on a totally blocked black, and the colors, overnight, on a Epson 400 that had been unused for months because now have Epson Eco printers, but this one is still good to keep for just some general printing. Thank you so much Jose. GENIOUS!! Will be sure to print something several times a week from now on.
I was desperate from my Epson's print head until I found this video. Thank you so much
Thank you.
I was about to buy a new printer then I watched your video and followed the instructions. I'm glad I did . You just saved me a lot of money. Thanks !
That is why they incorporate cleaning cycles in the design.
my printer epson R260 took a spill ..so i am crossing my fingers this works! thank you
OUCH!!! I hope it is OK!!!
thanks Jose me too! time and patience will tell. otherwise.
Thank you! I had the same question. I am in the middle of the process now. The only color that won't print is black. Fingers crossed!
Thanks, Joe. I always learn something new from you. Many thanks! Betty
Thank you Betty. Glad it helped.
Great!
(temporarily)
I am using reusable cartridges, which I have also been successfully using for some years on two other Epson R280s.
You always so helpful, Jose... Thumbs Up 2 You!
Thanks.
My Epson XP-810 is alive!
love this wisdom you should be a character in some movie :)
Oh my! Thanks.
Jose, thought you could use a good laugh today, anyway my husband and I went out to
Target today and bought $40.00 ink cartridge and then proceeded to put into our
Epson XP 434 after having been in storage for 2years, needless to say it did not work 🤣
We sure wish we would have watched your videos first!!! Love how you explain everything
And also how gentle you are in scolding us, Thank you I have now learned to use and print
Our new printer a lot more often at least every 60 hours!!!!
Most common sense knowledgable presentation ever!
Thank you!
Please what is the supplies that you use around you
THANK YOU, SOOOO INFORMATIVE
Thank you!
I love a story with a happy ending. Glad everything wormed out.
Long but hopefully detailed. Short but missing details would have not been so good. Glad it helped.
I appreciate any advice on this?
will running a set of cartridges filled with windex help in the case of a Epson. Thanks
@JoseRodriguez thank for all the informative information you provided us all with in printers your knowledge and wisdom is so valuable and helpful thank again. I have only one question do I have to rinse out the printer head before I reinstall into my Canon pixma pro-100 printer
Hi, I have followed your instructions and I soaked my ink cartridge for a couple of hours, it did the trick, I now have ink! Thank you.
before putting down Windex paper towel do u need to remove ink cartages ?
How long did the Printer sit without using? That would have caused the problem. Glad you were able to resolve it.
One of the most incredible videos I have ever seen! Chock full of vital information. Truly inspirational; I look forward to seeing Jose on TED talks. Except the title is wrong. It should be "How to identify a clogged head."
Thank you so much for the teaching, how can l get in touch with you in person about more of my p8000
Awesome!
My R3000 has not been used in 2 yrs. What do you suggest
I used different gammas and saturation, results are the same
Hiii great tips..tq very much
I have 1 question...
Like u said.. if u cannot inject windex through the hole..stop immediately.. so how do we fix that..
Try and if not let it sit and rest and keep trying but do not force it.
No. Brother ink is apparently incompatible with Canon printhead
Now:
- C is a "little better" (a few more lines filled in)
- Y is way better - almost solid
- M is better (more lines filled in)
- B is better (more lines filled in than M, but not quite solid)
I am going to put another towel with Windex and leave it overnight (if I have enough patience)....
Jim
I wonder if a nozzle check every few days is a good as making a print to prevent head clogs?
Cant find any videos on park pad replacement
That"'s because you are not supposed to change them yourself.
I have no idea what you are referencing as I as I do not use that printer. I only use PRO Photo printers.
Thanks
for the reply
Hello Pius of Uganda , I have Epson stylus tx210 and have taken 5year without using it . What should I do
Jose I have a problem with a Pixma Pro 10S have removed all the ink carts and flushed the head and still have a clog on the Grey cartridge.
I have done about 20 cleanings I am dealing with blue printing purple and streaks
The black ink nozzle of my Epson XP-330 was clogged. I followed your instructions and it is now working fine. Thank you Jose.
Good to hear.
