  • Sunshine Megatron is the founder of TShirtHell.com. T-Shirt Hell was a highly controversial, yet highly successful, online T-shirt retailer that was founded in 2001. Several celebrities have been spotted in T-Shirt Hell apparel, including Mark Cuban and Slash of Guns N' Roses.
Originally, I had set out to make a video about T-Shirt Hell, but I quickly changed course as I realized that the real story was with Aaron Schwarz aka Sunshine Megatron. The early internet mogul has led a VERY interesting life, to say the least. Born into a single mother household of moderate means, Aaron Schwarz was able to make a name for himself in the early days of the internet with his shock humor website FreakFarm.com. While FreakFarm itself wasn’t a huge hit, it did lay the groundwork for Schwarz’s next venture - TshirtHell.com.
T-Shirt Hell was founded in 2001, and it quickly gained notoriety for its outlandish and offensive T-Shirt designs. The website garnered a significant amount of media attention mostly due to the multiple cease and desist orders the company received from various entities such as Dual Star Entertainment (Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen) and Christopher Reeve.
Eventually, Aaron Schwarz held a contest to allow internet users to vote on a new name for him. He offered a grand prize of $25,000 to the person who submitted the winning name. This is how Arron Landau Schwarz became known as Sunshine Megatron.
Sunshine Megatron has experienced a lot of ups and downs throughout his life. He grew up poor, became a self-made millionaire, and even survived an assassination attempt in which he was poisoned. But perhaps the greatest struggles Sunshine Megatron has faced are currently ongoing. Sunshine Megatron created a youtube channel in 2014 called “I Am Truthor!” along with a website, AaronProof dot com. Both the IAmTruthor channel and the AaronProof website are used to document evidence Aaron has collected over the years as he researches the true nature of existence.

Just found your channel and I have to say I love your videos! The early internet was so full of these weird sites and phenomena that have really fallen between the cracks of internet history. As someone who has been feeling a bit nostalgic for that old internet culture, your videos really hit a sweet spot with me. Hope you are able to keep this up and get more eyes on your content soon, these are really well made! Take care man!

Even if I never get another view on any of my videos, it was all worth it for this comment. I'm actually focusing on this channel full-time now, so you can expect plenty more videos coming soon. I'm experimenting with different subject matter, so my next video is actually about a popular podcast, but I've already got some ideas on some more old internet stuff I want to cover.

Ian, I think your voiceover and presentation style is perfect for automotive videos. Like, trucks and such. EPA scandals... Generational growth between platforms by brands. List goes on. You know?

That's an interesting thought. I've never been particularly interested in the automotive industry though.

In the early 00s I checked in on tshirt hell daily to see what shocking, edgy designs would show up. They kept up with the news so any major event meant something inappropriate at best was coming. I'll never forget the Columbia disaster's one: "I DON'T want to be an astronaut when I grow up." Which was downright respectful considering how offensive "worse than hell" got.
All the best to your channel's future. Despite only being 20-25 years ago there's a whole lot of Internet 1.0 and prior folks know nothing about that still impacts internet today.

I used to check T-shirt Hell pretty often too. I wanted to get some of their shirts so bad, but I knew there'd be no way my parents would let me order something like that. They didn't really even trust ordering stuff over the internet much to begin with.
Thanks for the kind words. I'm working hard every day to produce more (and better) content. Comments like this make it all worth it.

Nice. I always wanted to get some T-shirt hell swag, but I was like 14 or something at the time, so I would've had to use my mom's credit card. I don't think she would've approved.

I became a member of t-shirt hell in 2005, I really enjoyed the rant 'newsletter' he used to send out. Looked forward to reading them. Then it all stopped, but of course the world also became so damn sensitive. I offended numerous people out in public with my t-shirt hell shirts, and didn't even have the most obscene ones. I received the emails and video indicating he had gone over the edge. But now I am receiving emails again from the site about new shirts and contest etc.. That is why I ended up here, was looking for current information on how Aaron is doing.
