suggest that they automatically issue thai ID cards to all retirees, and remove 90 day reporting, that made all things more smoothly and easier policing? afterall surprise visits can verify address
Having a normal working relation with Immigration Dept - sure 🙂..... Thai immigration is terrified losing a lot of the "fees" they get with the new visa suggestions, making it easier to to stay longer time in Thailand in a correct way. Foreigners behaving badly is just media driven and everyone knows that.
I have no issues with it, but how can one make sure that the inspectors are genuine cops and not imposters.
A recent case made news where several guys in police uniforms turned up at a shop (I think in Phuket) and demanded payments. It turned out that these were fake cops.
Our local Immigration Office does a once a year house check for retirees on an O-Non-immigrant visa. They call in advance and take pictures and talk with our "neighbors". I think of it as a wellness check. It is not an inconvenience for me.
guess what, they are coming ! Just receIved a phone call from them, nice of them to give a little warning. But wtf...(8 years here, married visa O, no problems, but still coming to check)
A few bad Apples ruin it for everyone.
If they push make things harder people move
They came by the house last year unannounced, (4 staff) checked where I was, (digging in the yard) smiled, and left very quickly. Nothing wrong with that I am a guest.
Let’s not should to much in the garden. My philosophy works for me.
@@Allgood784 OK, your response is incomprehensible. No problem, I will delete my comment so as not to waste any more time.
lucky they didn't say you were working as a "gardener: and need a work permit for that!
@@TheKingstownian very negative. A healthy mind cannot think that way.
Having said that I am aware anything can happen.
No thanks! There are so many other friendlier Asian countries.
The arrival immigration line has been empty for months. Not about low season. 2 years ago, the immigration arrivals was super long. It's been emptier & emptier. Additionally, starting this month (May), tourists need to be careful coming into Thailand (via BKK airport) too many times, even on visa exemption. Immigration counter officers are taking people aside for "interview" on the assumption/accusation that "tourists" are working in Thailand. While doing that, the officer is holding onto your passport & raising his voice at you in Thai after he asks if you know Thai & you say "No". There are even seats prepared at the side with a few understandably unhappy-looking travellers with kids.
This happens in Airports around the world.
Thats very good to hear, regulations and inspections are needed. Keep up the good work!
It’s probably a good idea actually. Sounds like they’re making it a bit easier for law abiding people, but taking out some of the trash.
Yep. Not naming names, but a certain ongoing conflict in Europe has resulted in many individuals (from both countries) coming over and creating / practising illegal businesses and other sorts of naughtiness.
Until you become the trash they take out. Stop being so naive.
@@johnsimpson6670 Not both countries. Thailand is overwhelmingly occupied by russians with all consequences.
Have you done a video on Parent-of-a-Thai child visas? Would love your take on those. Cheers and thanks for all the useful info as always.
Sounds great, not! On the year that I turned 50 and finally can make the move to retire in Thailand I keep getting this constant moving around of the "Rules" which makes it more "scrutinized" which really means a pain to deal with .1st the tax situation, now visa "crackdown". At some point it seems too much, for someone that has not participated in creating any of these problems.
To be clear, I did not get the impression this is particularly targeted at retirees. Rather, it seems to be focused on scrutinizing the younger "wilder" foreigners, if you will.

@@IntegrityLegalThailand That's good to hear. Why hassle retirees that just want to be left alone.......like me.
Vietnam or Philippines brother.
@@IntegrityLegalThailandvery true what you say. Ben
If you have a valid visa then nothing to worry about 🤷
Foreigners acting badly. Reaction: Allow more countries into Thailand and extend 30 days to 60 days.
Makes perfect sense.
❤❤❤
Thailand Philippines
Immigration
They do a great job
Keeping foreigners on a tight leash
Usa uk only dream about having such a service
I am on an "O" extension 7 yrs. Moved to Surin 3 years ago and have a great rapport with the immigration people at Kap Cheong office of Surin Immigration. I have been visited here at my home once a year since arriving. So perhaps it was a trial program to see what could be flushed out? I don't travel anymore and do my 90-dar reports online so maybe that anomaly raised a flag with them?
Will be interesting to see if some "friendly" agencies will still be allowed to circumvent the 800K deposit rule......
Yeah, that’s one they need to crack down on if in fact they intend to have a rule like that.
depends on their relationship with a specific officer. pay to play
Been in BKK 6 weeks, on retirement visa and immigration visited me this week. Short visit, took some photos and left.
Thats nothing new
@@ShadyD365 You are supposed to have a lease when you apply. However, after that, from what I am told you don't need to; only do the TM30 when moving about. Who really knows. So many things are arbitrary here in Thailand.
@@tambourinedmb Well they were no use with the awful plumbing here so I set them to task with the plastic casing covering external power lines outside the condo but they didn't fancy that either. In the end I gave them a few photos and a signature and off they went happy as larry
Problem i have with the thai immigration system is the website detailing requirements, give me a detailed description of the documents I require to renew my visa and i will happily prepare those documents, the problem is the vagueness “proof of income” for my marriage visa tell me exactly what i need with examples that i can print to show the bank what is required dates in advance these can be produced, i hate these open ended statements that can be used by immigration local officials to attempt to extort money
What will they be inspecting? I have a non O Retirement Visa and my visa agency handles everything.
He said the NEW ones, not those who already have their legal status.
@@susanzimmerli5178 just got checked, and i'm not new at all...in Khao Yai, Saraburi province.
Don't mind the scrutiny so long as everything is above board.
Although foreigners bring great benefit to the Thai people, tourist activities do occasionally upset the apple cart.
Unlike the Philippines, where foreigners are welcome, and there are very few immigration restrictions, Thailand has excessive restrictions.
YES, it is their country, but the Government could be more welcoming to retirees who bring millions of Baht into the Thai economy.
IMHO the Thai Government has been leery of foreign interference since 1688, the days of Constantine Falcon and the Siamese Revolution.
Don’t come to Thailand and stay in you country 🤪
They took pictures of us, passport + visa and book bank. Random check they said (order from Bangkok main office) but i'm Swiss !
and your wife is Swiss as well?
@@susanzimmerli5178 no, she is thai.
Hello Siem Reap when my lease is done here.
Thinking the same thing
Phew. Sounds reassuring. Thanks.
Do you think 60 in country 60 days out x3 for a year would be expectable for Thai immigration on a tourist visa
I have entered Thailand multiple times in a single year but never stayed longer than 3 weeks at any one time
The last few days, have in fact, made the Thai Visa rules significantly less onerous. The information in this video appears to be not only alarmist, but untrue.
"If you will" AGAIN?
Are you referring to non-immigrant visas as being hybridized? If so, can you explain this theory please.
Are they looking for Visa violations?
Would those inspections be while entering the country or are they planning inspections at the person's residence? (It sounds like it may be the latter if they are looking for violations of business and / or work laws?)
The context I was hearing this news in suggested they would/could be doing spot inspections of offices, businesses, and residences.

I was able to get an elite 20 year visa one month before they changed the program and prices. I was a bit nervous with my decision at the time but I'm sure now I made the move for my situation. It seems to be becoming a better value all the time to have a secure long-term visa. I can't imagine the amount of changes that will take place over the next 20 years.
Yes good move 😅

make sure you're watching TV when they come because if you're gardening, or editing RUclips, or pouring drinks for your friends in the backyard, they are jobs reserved for Thai's so you need a work permit! It's then goodbye to you!
Thailand made weed legal, and of course that will attract more of the low-renters.
This guy gets off on this shit
What is a “short term engagement business” in the new 60 days extempt visa coming on june 1st? Someone can come for touris and business then?
Thailand seems to always think we need them more than they need us! COVID forced me to move back to my home country in 2020 after living in Thailand for 16 years. I now have cheap good quality wine, better food and fresh vegatables, I can see the stars again, there is no pollution anymore. I would never move back to Thailand again.
Great,where do you live?
So few details, waste of time
This guy often talks BS and just peddles rumors on other peoples outlets. . Ignore him
He doesn’t want you to come in Thailand. He wants all Caucasian go to Syria, Somalia, Gaza City . 🤣
Why do you feel the need to flood RUclips with your video’s? Clicks and views because you don’t have enough paying clients….I Wonder Why…
Well thank you so much Ben for taking the time out of your busy law practice to make these videos to inform tourists of what is going on. Too bad some of these imbeciles just can't appreciate the work you do.
HOW IS HE "FLOODING RUclips" WITH HIS VIDEOS? YOU HAD TO BE LOOKING FOR THAI LAWS TO EVEN GET A NOTICE OF THESE TYPES OF VIDEOS.. AND HE IS INFORMING THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE THAI REGULATIONS FOR FREE, WHICH IS FOREVER CHANGING.. HE A AMERICAN LAWYER DEALING IN THAI LAWS, HE DOES NOT NEED TO BE DOING THESE VIDEOS FOR FREE
As usual, nothing actually changed.
It's just a shock when they actually decide to enforce this or that regulation. heh
