Thailand just keep making these BS types of visas! They're too complicated for their own good!
Is it not a bit of a catch 22 if the 500k needs to be lodged into a Thai bank? will they open the bank account for you as part of the process? I thought you needed to already have a visa in order to open a Thai bank account in the first place?
Love your quick short to the point videos Thanks
Next week it will all flip flop
I read it was 180 days per year for 5 years + with a possibility for a one time 180 day extension (paid extra)
Thanks for this. I read the same thing, but I'll wait to see how it works.
Thanks Benjamin.
Ben, I agree with your interpretation of the DTV, ie you get 180 days then you can apply within the next 4.5 years. It would be interesting to see Thai immigrations stance on using both 180 day tranches back to back, then applying for a new DTV visa. I suspect I know the answer. 😆
DTV is a perfect solution for snowbirds. 500KB seems like a perfect budget for 6 months in TH.
That is probably the reason behind it
About as clear as mud from the Govt as per usual, Thanks for your very informative videos Sir
There is no bond only need to show bank balance
Abe bhai 😂😂abhi tujhe kuch pta nhi h toh shaant reh
A 500k baht bond...
...or,
500k baht deposit in a Thai bank...
...or,
Proof of 500k baht in your home bank...
...or,
Evidence of 500k baht income per year.
I've heard ALL these things...
...they are as different as different can BE.
I sure hope it is 500k income a year. I don't just let 500k sit in a single account.
u should say it straight on,they only want our money but not farangs
I entered Thailand on a tourist visa in Feb for an 18 month stay despite having an 11 month overstay from 2022. There’s ways of staying here long term you just need to have the cash required
detaILS?
The question is can you stay 180 days, extend immediately and then apply for a new visa after the extension expires, this seems to be the main point of discussion (hope) online on Reddit etc
Nope
I havè had a 800000 deposit to secure my retiremènt visa for the past five years. It is a sunk cost . I have not touched the account. It is what we used to call "cost of doing business". And qhen i pass the account can fund a real party. Bobby in Maha Sarakham
why for 6 months muay thai visa that before i paid 40k i need now 500k deposit
How many of the digital nomad type people which are people in their 20s and 30s would have this type of cash to hold at least 6 months especially with the cost of living in every western countries
@rhh176 very true
People like u lol
I mean if u don’t have that kind of cash why are u moving to a country with way lower wages for 6 months? Thailand doesn’t need broke backpackers anymore they cause more harm than good, economies emerge and those ppl will be welcomed in other countries
@@hkkyt8963 How exactly are they causing more harm than good? And what is replacing them? Rich Chinese? Russians? Indians? Be careful what you wish for.
Those are exactly the group of people Thailand does not want.
so why isnt anyone talking about how to get a bank account... do you need that first? .. but Ive heard getting a thai bank acount is impossible now.. do you get the bank account AFTER gettiing the visa..? chicken and the egg?
So basically a 1 year visa. However, why would they make the sticker validity 5 years? That makes no sense... We need to wait and see. It could also be that it is just an unlimited entry 5 year visa with 6 months stay for each entry, which would be the nuts...
So they tried to make it easier but in fact made it more complicated and harder?
I don't think the intention of the DTV is to work locally in Thailand. The intention is for individuals to work for a company in their home country, remotely, in Thailand.
Why would anyone work locally if the salary difference is big ?
@@alexandertraveler510 IF anyone has a choice, you earn a developed country income while living in a developing country... economic arbitrage.
FBAR ....
IF you are usa citizen
How about instead of proving financial stability they prove mental stability? Even a broke backpacker that isn't causing any issues is better than a rich troublemaker, not to mention how rich people buy up property and inflate prices making it harder for the poorest natives. Governments needs to stop chasing quick money and try to address the thing that matters like low birth rates, low investments, etc., and leave the natural flow of tourists alone.
Thanks for your thoughts regarding this I am curious what comes next but I don’t think I am coming back to Thailand anymore
this visa is for "remote" workers, that work is either not considered working in Thailand or untraceable income, At least this way they get something out of all those people earning overseas while living in Thailand.
Musicians that's cool
What i wonder is that i am 43 years old, with a passive income of 3000 USD a month, and i wonder if i can use the Destination Thailand Visa as a makeshift retirement visa, or a visa to bridge the gap until i am 50 years old?
most likely yes that would be possible.
but of course we don't have all the info yet so don't quote me... but from my experience and understanding of their system, sounds like that probably won't be an issue, if you are to apply for your retirement visa after your other visa (any visa, be it tourist, education, business, etc etc) expires.
No, buy the Thailand Privilege visa instead.
How would digital nomads, mostly young people, be able to pay 500KB? Retirees that sold a house, yes, but is that what they want?
500,000 baht is less than $15,000 USD
@@PaulRLight how many 20 yo has that in cash? You can’t use your credit card for that
@@fredrikbergquist5734 I was 20 years old many, many years ago. I started work at 13, had 2 jobs. Delivering newspapers 5 nights per week after school and cleaning a machine shop on Saturday mornings. I left school at 16 and had a full-time day job and worked about 4 shifts in a bar at 18. At age 20 I had more than $15,000 in cash.
^ don't want poor foreigners filing in... the west gives outsiders welfare benefits. Which is really the unreasonable operation?
@@fredrikbergquist5734 You're lost bud.
Poor farang not wanted. How reasonable. 🤭
Why not just get 3*60 visa waiver & come n go as you please. Clueless
You are just sad now people won’t need visa agent
6 minutes of speculation and obsfucation Benjamin. As usual I am not enlightened by your blog. Maybe one day I will learn something valuable so keep tuning in, but seems like a long shot. If you will.
What a load a bollocks hahah typical thailand
Most people dont have $15000 dollars to tie up or even in savings
Maybe people that don't have $15,000 USD in savings should consider staying at home and work a little longer
@@PaulRLightexactly. Thailand is not for broke boys anymore. Pay to play
