@@wouter1602 yes. Prior years you could bring in money earned the previous year without being subject to tax. Now, any money brought in starting the 1st of January requires a tax filing and can be subject to tax.

There is already surveillance with TM30 and TM47. Basically you can't stay in Thailand without the government knowing where you are and if you are here 90 days or longer you need to doubly confirm where you are.
It is surveillance. Is part of a world wide trend. That and population control and revenue raising. Bureaucrats go meet other bureaucrats from other countries at meetings and conferences and they enjoy each other's company and feel good. They gain.. No one else does
It’s an online arrival card FFS calm down, we will be able to use the automated passport gates which will mean no more grumpy immigration officers and long lines. They are collecting the same info they always have
If you go to immigration I just love the piles of photocopies and filled in forms they have in the next room to immigration from those who visited before you. All that paper work might be considered a fire hazard, especially for the warehouse where all that ends up! Now we live in the digital age where they could scan stuff in or just electronically read you passport; no need for all those copies.
I spent 2 hours at immigration yesterday for a 30-day extension. It was an absolute joke So many forms to get in, so many forms to stay in the country for longer following their supposed benefits, and so many possible changes is leaving me perplexes as to why Thailand and not another SEA country.
I might get my the to sell all property in Thailand and cut ties. Malaysia looks better and better all the time. Penang here we come. With a lot of investment dollars.. I hope someone puts this out there in Thai for that people..
Good analysis but its predicated on the assumption that the Thai government (or any govt for that matter) actually care about their citizens, and whether slaves from a different plantation bring in their fiat currency. The UN and all its institutions have declared war on the pleebs and Thailand is only interested in satisfying their WEF and BIS rulers. Corporations bleed billions with their woke silliness and give lip service to how they are hurting by it - but they can be propped up forever as long as they accomplish their social engineering and securing greater power over people goals. Its a one world government and they all tightening the walls around everyone trying to exist outside their digital prison.
Electronic travel will hurt tourism badly. When I used the type O electronic website it did 2 things that made me apply in Thailand instead. First it told me over and over the photo not good enough for eye recognition, second when I had to upload money guarantees it deleted the page before when I had to upload a second page. The Immigration Police told me that too many from the UK, US, Sweden, Germany, Canada want to stay here so we stopped the ability to open a bank account required for a long stay 90 days and beyond visa
It’s not just Thailand. The whole world is going to hell with paper work and more taxes. In the end no one wants this and everyone will move to the one island that does not have this stuff.
Gosh from what i here from friends in England and other countries apparently it's already very difficult to get a Visa, The online system at the embassy's never works, and and now they want to make it even harder to get a Visa, ill never understand Thai logic 😮.
I just went through this eTravel bs coming into the phillippines, I have to go through it again to leave, I promise you never again, it's not worth the hassle. The system doesn't work properly, even at the airport the officers helping people were struggling, after about an hours delay I found one officer who had the training to make it work. All the flight staff said they struggled with it and that you just have to keep trying until you get through it. Thailand will loose heaps of potential repeat visitors, dumb idea unless the reason has sometimes to do with tracking people in the next plandemic.
Yes it is required to leave, I just filled it out last night and got my QR code, the instructions are clear, it's required to pass through immigration. @@espresso92945
So would someone on a retiree visa need to do an ETA every time they enter Thailand? For example, if you go to Hong Kong for a a few days, do you do an ETA for your return?
A system of registration needs to be managed and administered … this needs people to do the management & administrative … when you need people to work someone is there to make a profit … the profit usually goes to private ‘investors’ of a certain class and economic status… ie. westernized ‘legal’ corruption.
ETA could basically be used to replace physical immigration/arrival cards for people entering into any country. Only residents/ permanent residents / transit pax are usually excluded from filling in this card. Therefore i would assume any kind of visa or LTR visas would eventually have to fill in the ETA. Could i be wrong? maybe! but that could be the argument given by immigration in time to come 😂
The more rules, the less freedom. Take it from someone from a country which was founded on freedom and has because an expensive bureaucratic, socialist nightmare- it's a bad thing.
Get used to it Ben the ETA is similar to the forms u had to fill in in COVID times form takes a few minutes Europe are bringing it in to visit Europe as well get used to it Ben .
they can't even get online 90 day right
The Ben Hart trilogy continues. Hits the nail on the head as usual Ben

We don't want an ETA. This smells very fishy like surveillance. Where has the time gone when stuff like this was not there.

The ETA is being brought in to better track time spent in Thailand to impose the tax on retirees and others
More people now retiring in Cambodia & vietnam...
Vietnam does not offer retirement visa or long-term residency permits. It may be good for slow travel, but not for retirement.

You pay extra for a reentry stamp allowing you to leave then return.

If you're on a Non O Visa and have a re-entry permit, why would you need an ETA.
