I never really knew how small these goats were until now when she was walking with your daughter at knee height. WOW, they are really small goats. I think in the not too far future I want to do the homestead life and have goats. Crystal your channel is the best :-)
Keep in mind that Lodi is also still a baby so shes smaller than the others! But yeah they are a smaller breed!

I just love watching Emily. She is so good at it. Her personality is so refreshing . I love to watch you work. You are great at explaining. My grandson does not take care of his goat's like you do. I asked him about it, I think I hurt his feelings. I really like the the attention you give your goat's. They are such a sweet animal. Please don't ever stop doing u-tube. I am old enough to be your grandma and great grandma for your children. I will always watch you.

I do have a question and I'm not sure if you ever addressed this in a previous video... Whatever happened to Bindi?? I know after her breeding with Champ she unfortunately smothered her beautiful doeling...I didn't see anything after that.. if there is a video, can you just give me a title?
You can also use a ceramic tile to put the blade on to cool off the blade in between the goats. I have seen many dog groomers who do this. Love your videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

Couldn’t agree more about the clippers - I have the same type that I use on our dogs (I have springers, and they’re prone to ear infections due to their long, pendulous ears and basically living in water during the warm months so initially I had them for keeping their ear hair, feet and back end hair clipped up). Now I use them on both dogs and goats, and I have to say that they really are worth the expense - plus the heads can’t be beat for staying sharp for much longer than most other brands.

Emily is such a sweetie. Shes learning allot by the time shes older she will b like her mama. I love how you take the time and paitence to teach her things. Someday mabe she will have her "own" goat to get to use those skills to learn on and practice on .

Do you do the same routine for the bucks and the wethers? They look awful fluffy, I bet they would be a lot cooler and less pungent after a nice bath and grooming.

🥰 Beautiful Miss Lodi💕 I grew up on a horse showing & breeding farm. So much goes into getting them ready for show. It was so much fun though. I would love to go to a goat show & watch Lodi show her stuff🌸

I have a solution to your barn swallow problem. Put up a bird house for them around the corner from where you are and pull out their nest and put some 1/4 inch hardware cloth around the top of the light so they can’t rebuild. Hope that helps 😉

Watching the gentleman having their spa day not only showed their confirmation but their temperament as well. This would really keep your animals having a great advantage to build your business I would think. I know watching their lives and care would make me only want to purchase your babies! Do you have a hard time keeping up because of all the personal attention you provide?

Good to know about the blade sizes. I don’t have goats but I just used my Andis shaver on my Pomeranian dog. It has the number 10 and it cut him really short and he did get slightly sunburned. So I need to get the #4 head. The big attachments that came with it won’t go through his hair. Glad I watched your video. And thank you for the link to the shaver head and the blade oil. I’m ordering both.
Dog groomer here, there are also a #5 and #7 blade that are in between the 10 and 4 lengths. Crystal is going in reverse on her goats with the 4 which equals the length of going with the grain with a #7 blade. I would recommend using a 7 on your Pomeranian but shave with the grain!

The look Lodi gave the camera while you were talking about the porch "mafia swallows" and their diver by dooky bombs was awesome. Almost like seriously? I'll hurt somebody they dooky on me!!! She looked beautiful as always! She's presidential ready!!! Girl has attitude. She walks into that pen she has that "you better recognize" attitude. They know betterr! I love that goat!!!

You just need a small 'guard' of sorts for the light. They can't nest where they can't get to. I also love seeing the colour change in some goats when you shave. I can't wait to see Little Bit's shave.
Multiply this work times 30 and you have a rough idea of the work that goes into good herd maintenance.
A show involves even more work.

I'd love a video on your goat setup. When you go to get a goat, I'm always looking at the pallets and the fencing and thinking, "Oooh, that looks nice but not very big. All the goats look happy with that pen."
It’s not the shave, it’s the bath. They smell different 😊
With some dog households, if you bath one you have to bath them all or there will be horrific fights.

Crystal how many times will you have shave , cut nails, shampoo and detail before a showing? They look so pretty after they’ve been so spiffed up. Excuse me, I am suffering badly from allergic bronchitis and my doctor got me medicated and locked up and locked down so I don’t get anything from anyone else as if that could happen. This state is extending its restrictions and adding new ones. We know it’s for us and our children and loved ones but I can’t find things to grow my garden with. Save your seeds as I see a severe shortage next year. Y’all take care and God bless you. 🙏🥰🤟👋
Concerning the birds rebuilding their nests...but a small mirror...like you would use to heck make up, etc. Hobby/craft stores have them. Hang one from a string over that spot and the birds will not build there. Seeing themselves scares them away. We have to do this for our front porch light...every year.

Love the barn swallows even when they dive bomb you after the chicks hatch. They are awesome bug catchers.
When I body clip my horses I use Absorbine Show Sheen on the coat after the bath and let the hair dry thoroughly. It repels dust and allows the blades go through the hair easier. Seems to cut down on the amount of lubricant you have to use during the clipping session. If Show Sheen is safe for goats, you might want to give it a try. My other personal preference is to use something like Oster Cool Lube instead of clipper oil on the blades during a clipping session. Clipper oil residue can build up on the coat and actually collect hair in the clipper blades, causing them to slow down and heat up faster. After you're done clipping, clean the blades with blade wash, then oil the blades and wipe them down to get the excess oil off before storing the clippers. Again, I'm doing horses instead of little goats so I'm doing a marathon clipping session compared to what you're doing. Using the Show Sheen and spray lube has helped keep my blades sharp and made the whole process a lot more efficient/less time consuming.

You could try using a halter for the Jr's necks. You can hold on to the halter to keep them up.
It always makes me a bit nervous when we shave around their eyes. We were planning on going to our first bigger show this year but obviously those plans are gone. But we do shave for the county fair. I'm so excited because we only have 4 of our goats to shave (1 Myotonic lamancha cross wether, 1 Neubian cross wether, and 2 Alpine doelings.) Although we may help with some friends so probably around 8 but that's not too bad.
We have 7 Alpacas to shear which we're doing really soon. But we normally shave goats in July since the fair is at the end of July.
