- Welcome to the Blue Cactus Dairy Goat Ranch! We breed show quality Nigerian Dwarf Goats. We currently have a herd of 26 does and 6 bucks. Our herd is rotationally grazed on our 11 acre homestead in Arizona. We make cheese and soap from the milk we get and we also raise
Kunekune Pigs, Muscovy Ducks and Chickens. We also keep a large garden year round!

Said with love. ❤As a retired dog groomer it would be easier to have soap and water mixture in large jugs. Wet the goat "really well", deep to the skin, then pour from jug starting at the head and neck, but not pouring all the soap on the whole animal at once. Since you have to do it outside, not in a tub, bathe goat in halves or thirds. Thoroughly rinse and get all soap out! Soap left in will irritate the skin and any dirt will quickly adhere and your goat will get dirtier faster.

I am in shock!!!! I just watched "another goat owner". They do NOT do it as you do. I did unsubscribe from them. They pull the babies out, don't use towels, shove straw up their noses instead of the gentle rubber thing you use. They don't sit with their mommas that are in labor. They just don't get the care and love you give your goats. They are just not how I want to raise goats. I will follow you forever!!! Thank you for having such a huge heart and show us how raising goats should be done. Thank you.

Lucky does LOVE A BATH! As I have said before, I gave my Chewy a bath last year and he SCREAMED bloody murder! as if I had poured acid on him. He is soooo dramatic! And Merle doesn't seem to mind, oooh Everest does have a great angry face!!

Boys looking good - Dane is next after you get back from the show - get that winter coat either brushed and wash it out (in stages or it will hurt) or give him a lion cut and shave him before it gets to hot so the sun does not burn his skin ie his coat has a chance to grow back a little
You should never shave a great pyrenees, but I agree with the bath and brush!

Emily get a bucket with soap and water and a brush to wash cars. That will help you a lot.

Lucky is so well behaved. In my experience giving goats a bath means chaos and everyone gets soaked.

I still can't tell the boys apart. Well except for Everest, but they are all so pretty
Lucky and Merle are father and son, and so hard to tell apart for me unless I can spot the missing ear tip.

My family owns a grooming shop. It's best to shave them down first and then wash them. It saves you a lot of time.
Makes the blades dull much faster when cutting through all the dirt.

But I doubt luck is needed, they really do look great..and Emily, you will find your comfort zone, then it’s easy peezy :) I was a dog groomer for a few years, and when you were grooming lucky, I saw myself. Well, not long after, I too was grooming show dogs in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Yep, had a blast. I could have swore by the first week I started growing dog hair though..lol The little prickly stuff get stuck in the arms and everywhere. Set me silly!

I think Legend could be a buck for a show next year, he looks so manly for such a young buck. Vader looks much more delicate.
What a difference that shave job did. Lucky almost looks like a big pitbill standing there modeling his new haircut! Love seeing their patterns though with the shave, they really give us a clear look at them. How did you luck out with having help shaving the stinky bucks lol

Have you guys ever thought about getting some pygmy goats too? They would be so cute to watch with the other kids. Plus it would be interesting to see how small their kids would be at birth.
