Emmylou Harris has a throat of gold. She had it back in the 1970's and she has it still today. I could sit back and listen to her sing all day and all night. Thanks you so much Emmylou.
I still remember Emmylou at the Santa Clara County fairgrounds in the 70s. There was hardly anyone in the audience who was listening to her but I was mesmerized. I was too young to even drive, so when my friends came by to get me, they practically had to drag me away by the hair. I think it took me ten minutes walking backwards to leave the stadium. Never have I ever wanted to stay so badly to hear someone sing.
One of the finest Ambassadors of country music - or simply music. Ms. Harris sings everything, with everybody, and we are all better for her efforts! A genuine treasure, and she just gets better and better!
I have been a fan of Emmy Lou since I first listened to her in the 1970's. A long time ago. She is the ultimate in musical integrity. She was, in the 1970s an astonishingly beautiful lady. And yet, she never tried to use sex appeal to promote her music. Huge credit to her for this. And she still sells records today. This is a lesson to today's twerk artists---if they will listen. s
Well, I cannot argue with you on that subject. Would not even try. She has a timeless beauty. And, I would argue, a significant part of that beauty is the fact that she is, and always has remained a lady. ("Lady" used in the old fashioned sense when the word actually meant something.)
Agreed!!! That is one beautiful lady!! In my opinion, still has the same folksy, but elegant voice she had back in the 70's. Which has also graduated to that sweet red wine, aged to perfection...
A Class Act in everyway. Not only a tremendously talented Singer/Song Writer but a Great Humanitarian . She even has a " Dog Rescue " in Her Backyard . Probably more Beautiful inside then out or at least = .
I loved the artist in her before I was born. Oh, her soothing voice always brings me back to my favorite quiet place, my heart! You don't have to move to travel, one only needs to listen to her sing. She will take you places never seen before and bring you back only to leave again with every next song.
afonso, paul here-I can't decide between my heart stopping and crying out loud, but that's Emmylou, she has that effect on people(especially guys like me who love her!)
65 users unfortunately do not have a musical ear, to appreciate this wonderful voice. It's a pity to see these days, young people who listen to anything in music, like the Rap for example and who know absolutely nothing in music !!!!
They do not make them any better than Emmylou Harris. Her songs and voice know how to reach into the deep recesses of our hearts and touch places that no other can touch.
This song sounds like music from Heaven... Emmylou sings like angels surely do... No matter how grey her hair might turn, her voice gets better and better.
Two guitars and the golden velvet voice of Emmy produces one the best songs one can hear. This is a stunning showcase of pure musical brilliance. Just sensational.
The first time I heard Emmylou was in 1975 on Bob Dylan’s Desire album. I was a kid, not really into any specific type of music... but one evening my mother had that album on and I heard the song “Oh Sister”... 43 years later and Emmylou embodies all that is beautiful, wonderful, talented and graceful in this world. She just keeps getting better and more soulful. Her work with animal rescue just adds the icing to the cake. Emmylou, may you and your music live forever...
Dear Me! You might be someone that knows how much Emmylou's music means to me. Her voice more comforting and reassuring to me than my own mother's. I choked a bit reading your words, while hearing this song for the first time. She is the Creator's gift to the world and to lonely souls like me.
Such a wonderful performance. Once I learned it was about Sara and A.P. Carter, now it makes me tear up to listen to it. Also it is co-written by Emmylou.
Brilliant!! Every time I listen to her I think of Willie Nelson's immortal words " There are two types of men in the world, those that love Emmylou, and those who have never met her"
@@vikking9154 He was AP Carter of the Carter Family. AP was obsessed with collecting songs from the hills and hollers and you could say he didn't take care of homework. Sara Carter was his wife. The song says the rest. The Wildwood Flower was the first song my Mother taught me to play on the guitar. She was from town and also ended up in one of those long lonely hollars and hated every minute of it. However she never left my father and she didn't found a significant branch of country music but she did meet the Carters once. Unfortunately I never met Emmylou Harris not even once.
Well, there is Joan Baez, and there is Emmylou... Yes, different, I agree, but they both have that special in their voices. Love'em both! Thanks for sharing, mate!
When I think of the entertainers that are keeping real country music alive it is Emmy Lou then Marty stuart and a host of others ........you will not find there music on the radio but you can find it on youtube if you look!! and you can buy there cd's if you look hard enough...... it can not get anybetter than this
Emmylou seems to sing better and look more beautiful the older she gets. I have been listening to her most of my adult life. This song is a great tribute to the seminal country singer Sara Carter.
8remy5 I agreed. I think after Sara left A.P., he lived the rest of his days with a broken heart. Sara was very pretty when she was young, & A.P. was a fairly handsome man. But it seems like she was never happy in their marriage.
I've been to heaven and I've heard the angels sing: Emmylou Harris and the harmony of Vince Gill and Patty Loveless; there are no sweeter sounds on earth or in heaven, there just isn't.
"From the tall pines of Carolina"...Emmylou never abandons Gram Parsons while the Country Music Association does. This line is a memory fragment of Gram's "Hickory Wind" and Emmylou's career was founded on the rich memories of her association with Gram Parsons. Here in this song Emmylou is praising the spirit and style of Mother Maybelle Carter and the country roots song, "How She Could Sing The Wildwood Flower." Some of us might never have made it if not for the enchanting voice and songs of Emmylou and her loyalty to Country Music...and the path created by her lost friend, Gram Parsons. I love the album, "All I Intended to Be" as its songs remind us of the spanse of time we all call "life." Ironically, Mother Maybell's loyalty to Chet Atkins saved his career in county music...yet, Chet later was in opposition to the career and music of Gram Parsons. Sad but true!!
Emmylou is one of those artists that no matter how much credit she gets it will never be enough.
Emmylou your so sweet honey will you Marry me Emmylou I'll take good care of you my darling
She has one of the most beautiful voices on this earth.
THIS is what Country music is missing. She's the Queen of Country. Still great. Nobody quite like her.
Not even Dolly? I'd say more than queen, Emmylou is the Outlaw of country.
Amen

What a graceful, beautiful and wonderful woman!
There are nearly 8 billion people on the planet and one Emmylou Harris. I'd say that's pretty special.
Wonderful music and Emmylou simply fantastic. The only problem I have is when I hear Emmylou my heart almost stops beating.
Beautiful song & sung by the most talented woman in the music world. I never miss her concerts when she comes to SLC, Utah - she is one of a kind.
There truly is only one Emmylou. I never tire of hearing her voice. Thanks for posting such a beautiful song.

Emmylou is really a queen. Always wonderful, conveys an immense peace. And that ability, my God. Dominates the stage and dominates our hearts.
Wow! she looks amazing and the voice sounds even better. God bless you.

You are absolutely right. Our beautiful, traditional music is dying a slow death, just like America is.
THE voice.....LOVE Emmylou Harris...
They do not make them any better than Emmylou Harris. Her songs and voice know how to reach into the deep recesses of our hearts and touch places that no other can touch.
even downunder she makes the stars shine
Words just can't convey what Emmylou's voice brings to our cultural celebration of joy from the Heavens sent.
The older Emmylou gets, the better she does this song.
+steve baker The older she gets the better she gets, period. Wish I could say the same.

There is Emmylou...and then everybody else
This is my favourite song. I never get tired of her voice. I listen to her for hours.
What an incredible performance. The layers crafted into the song; of course, the voice, always the voice, more beautiful still.
soothes my soul. ......what will we do when Emmylou is gone .?

I am addicted to this beautiful lady with this beautiful voice and fantastic song
I have lost my heart to Emmylou. She somehow reaches into your soul and grabs hold of it. No words can ever describe the emotion she makes me feel.
Dear Me! You might be someone that knows how much Emmylou's music means to me. Her voice more comforting and reassuring to me than my own mother's. I choked a bit reading your words, while hearing this song for the first time. She is the Creator's gift to the world and to lonely souls like me.
I cry listening and watching Emmylou she is so special, so touching. I could go on and on
A lovely song, and sung so well by a the truest of stars. Thank you Emmylou - from NZ CountryMusic

Never tire of hearing her incredible voice. Beautiful inside and out.
do we still have people who can sing like this? this beautiful!
Happy B-Day, Emmylou! You are simply put...a treasure!
+Dan Yes, she is an American treasure, for sure.
this song is about a.p. and sara carter, the love story (the sad one, of course)
that resulted in nothing less then the entirety of country music
I was thinking this, but thanks for your comment that confirms it!
A.P. who was that?

Emmylou is an angel, a frickin' angel.
She is singing about Sara and AP Carter, The Original Carter Family.
Emmylou also wrote this tribute to AP and Sara. Wildwood Flower with Emmylou and Iris Dement is divine.

In April 2009 Harris became a grandmother when her daughter gave birth to a daughter, Prudence
Couldnt agree more . Loved Emmylou's voice for the last 35 yrs . From Ireland
she is something.. love her so much
The voice of a angel she has so much feeling and passion in her singing
She has a purity in her voice that I don't think any other singer has.
The voice of an angel.......absolutely breathtaking.
I saw her a few weeks ago (8/2021) and she's still magnificent!
She is a beautiful song bird.. Her beautiful haunting voice unforgettable. Thank You !
Emmylou Harris was sent on earth to sing the saddest songs - 2.19 to 2.30 is pure anguish.
Saw her live around 1990. Absolutely mesmerizing, wonderful, angelic voice. I will never forget it.
Classis Emmylou
Just saw her in concert. Amazing!
One of the lucky few.
even the time goes by, she is such a great singer !
thank you for sharing
prettier now than 30 years ago and still amazing
Wow...A beautiful lady with a beautiful voice....but there seems to be a sadness in a somewhere, somehow place.
+toolittle toolate It's an Appalachian folk song - it's got to be sad. I think it's a law. lol Love this woman' voice/
+Linda Smith This is actually a song that Emmylou and two other ladies wrote after they watched a TV documentary about Sara and A P Carter.
Buddy Miller is a very good guitarist.
Espectacular emmy
