I agree, but I had that same view when I had long locs.
I would plat my hair in all kinds of hairstyles. Mostly it's either single plats or cornrows. Generally just to keep my hand out of my head and don't have to worry about how to my hair every week.

I’m a throw it in a low bun with gel until the edges start to get thin THEN cry about it kinda gal 😅 because natural hair is time consuming and expensive especially when you hit the gym hard every day.
