I never received so many compliments on my natural hair. I went to a natural hair stylist to get twists. I was a "straight natural" for years and I got tired of forcing my kinks and curls to be something they didn't want to be. Long story short my hair was unevenly damaged and I chopped it all off to an inch. I was in fight or flight mode in that chair, trying to decide if I wanted to cover it with a wig or rock it and I chose to rock it. ✌️👩🏾🦱 One year later and I wish it was that short and easy again.
these days ive been questioning if i actually think im ugly or if its the unhealthy comparison being pushed on me thats making me feel that way and even if i am indeed ugly why must i change if im fine with it? who am i changing for? we have to learn to accept ourselves in a world that already rejects us. if no one will be kind to you at least be kind to yourself ❤
I cut my hair into a short natural a few months ago. I do feel very unattractive with it this way. Sometimes I look in the mirror and say well you look ugly, but what can I do about it and keep moving. So idk either am I ugly or is it society. My face did not change but when I wore weave people thought I was pretty but now not so much. I’m just looked over. One woman at my job would greet me Hey beautiful everyday when she greeted me. It was only when I was wearing weaves. Now she just greets me by my name. No more beautiful which she always did.
Do things that work for your face and make changes (if you choose) that accentuate your features. It's okay to want to better yourself and present and package yourself; but make sure that those changes and tucks work with your features and not against it.
I think my biggest lesson from being natural is learning how to enhance your natural beauty. If you’re always in the process of covering your hair and covering your face you don’t learn how much or little you have to do to look put together. It really is a game changer

That aside, can we talk about diet definitely affecting your natural hair and deficiencies? Your hair is unimportant in relation to your organs etc so your hair is the last to get nutrients, so make sure you are eating what your hair needs to grow and be healthy. Also, deficiencies in folic and vit d can damage your hair and cause hair loss. Most bp don't get enough vit d, so get your bloodwork done if you are having issues with any slow growth or hair loss/thinning.
