Ever since going to Crown Towers Sydney to try their Epicurean buffet, and then going to the Langham to try their Kitchen to Table Seafood Buffet, I have been receiving a number of comments recommending for me to try the Harvest Buffet at The Star. Now I have been here a long time ago, way back when, before they renovated the place. I actually made a booking for June, but that fell through, so in today's video, we are FINALLY checking out The Star Sydney and eating to our heart's content. have been on the hunt to check out some of Sydney's other buffet offerings. some of my friends told me about the Langham, and so, i dragged my siblings and we all ventured out to The Rocks to check their dinner seafood buffet out.

go and eat by myself all the time . seems strange in the beginning , but get used to it after a while. same as traveling alone. gives one the freedom to eat and do things at your own schedule and timing .

Went this past weekend, was pretty crap for $110. Far better buffets elsewhere.

Nice interior of the dining buffet, very elegant. Quite wide variety of types of food, and seafood section is appealing. Same as you, I never tried truffle mashed potato too, sure taste good, can see the texture is smooth ;) and roast pork belly, super crisp, so irresistable that you definitely can't miss it.

😋 I went to the old original Sydney Casino buffet in the mid 90’s for $10 🤪 prawns 🦐 use to cost $10 per kilo 🟢 bonus food after the first kilo of prawns 🦐

If you want something potato and truffle at home, Woolies in the new Christmas line has roasted baby potatoes in duck fat and truffle butter and for a woolies product they were really good .
A charming young lady dining alone. The young men of Sydney must be blind! I was also surprised there was only one curry on offer for $89. The duck looked like it was cooked superbly, was it as succulent as it appeared? Great video Janice!

Tried it last night, pretty good. Ate plenty of oysters and scallops on the shell. Crab, prawns, lamb, sirloin steak, salmon, stewed beef, roast duck, papadums, sushi, pizza, roast leg ham. And a carafe of sprite 😂

I was nearly going to go this week. Thanks for the video, you helped me make my mind up, not to go. It looks very basic. Not much variety in salad section, or dessert. One curry, dry look meat. For $90, I thought it would look better. Thanks again. Love your vids 😊

This one that I went to didn’t, but the other two I’ve featured, ie epicurean at Crown and the Langham, did have them

The seafood section looking a bit lackluster 😔, granted we recently came out of lockdown. Not sure if the Asian in me would say it's worth.
*Update* - tried Butcher's Buffet in EW; for $35 it's quite worth (esp. for a big eater like myself 😂) but the beef options were quite chewy. Definitely would just opt to fill my plate with the frozen pork thin slices, but I would go again if I wanted a relatively cheap 'bang-for-your-buck'.
You have a big appetite. You managed to smash through all the food available at the buffet. What's the time limit at Star Buffet these days? It used to be 2hrs but I think it went down to 90 mins.

hey! I use wireless rode lav mic - I don't know if you can see but I have a clip on mic to capture the audio. its small and light. hope that helps!
How did this buffet compare to the Epicurean at Crown?
For me, I preferred Epicurean. I really like seafood and sashimi and there were a lot more variety at Crown

I think the $49 lunch buffet is better value…while there isn’t oysters (sometimes there is) there was basically everything else and for $40 less….I would have been disappointed in that dinner if I had gone.

Janice, I think you are too diplomatic! All of the roast meats, you can see, were ultra dry. The pasta looked pretty mushy and overcooked. Har gow looked like just finely minced prawn. But we can see when you enjoy something, you really enjoy it! Thanks for all the videos, you really give us a lot of ideas of where to go, places we have never thought of before

Yikes not The Star Harvest Buffet... and paying full price as well... I went there a few months back when they had it on for 1/2 price... even at half price I wouldn't go back. The quality is really lacking there... seafood were below par (actually went to the seafood markets for lunch the same day) light and day difference... ALL their food were below average, as you said har gow would be better at yum cha place... that can be applied to every single dish.
Our summary was if 4 of us chip in $45 each that's $180 (imagine full price $360)... we can go to seafood market fill our bellies up with much better quality food (steamed fish, all the oysters you can eat, sashimi, other cold/hot food)... Seafood in these kind of buffet is really the only thing that's of value. You can go to a very good Italian restaurants and eat proper Italian food, or Indian, or Chinese or whatever.
Australia/Sydney has the worst buffets for the price. Looks good though Janice 👍
