In Melbourne and Auckland Langhams they (used to?) do the 9 kitchens, so they could cook things for you at each one. Plus of course the normal cold stuff. Never gets boring!

I went friday night and it was just overwhelming fullstop. Way to many people! But the chicken sticks we waited an hour for, were delish!
Langham is also a bit sneaky on their website. It mentions crab and bugs on the menu but that isn't served at the $88 lunch. I'm sure the fineprint of "Please note this is a sample menu, food items may vary." is their getout clause...

Damn that's good value. Back in 1993 a seafood buffet at a Port Douglas resort was $50, so $88 3 decades later is mind-blowing

Hey Janice, loving your reviews. Have u ever been on a cruise? They have the most incredible buffets and they’re typically included with the cruise fare, available for all meals.
The best tip I have for cruises is to go high end, avoid the cheaper lines.

@@JaniceFung Royal Caribbean. The first one was a freebie for the volunteer firefighters after the 2019/20 fires, but recently did a paid cruise to Adelaide and Tassie. Balcony room definitely the way to go, and their signature steakhouse (Chops Grille) is incredible (but gotta pay extra). Service onboard is amazing and there’s so much to do. I’m a food head though, so it’s all about the food 😂.

It looks good. I enjoy buffet despite finding so many choices daunting. We're all bought at a price. You appear to use a similar strategy to Moi: smaller taster-type plates rather than hoovering it up. Life and all its experiences is the true buffet.
I've not been back to the Langham since it was the Observatory but even then it was always excellent quality.

Ashfield RSL Buffet starts from $19/senior member during weekday lunch. I think it is far too cheap for basic selections with cold prawns, dim sum, fruit, dessert, coffee and tea. Membership is too cheap too: just $3 for 1 year or $11 for 5 years.

oooh! the langham lunch buffet doesnt have lobster sadly :( they had oysters, prawns & mussels, and then in terms of sashimi they had salmon & kingfish sashimi

You should try the best laksa place "bamba laksa house" CBS Sydney try it for me I heard it's one of the best in Sydney ! ? When i come to visit Sydney I'll be trying this restaurant for sure .
Hope you do one at Bankstown RSL buffet, has a massive variety of seafood, Asian etc. around $38. Go the Friday to Sunday as there is a wider selection on the weekends.
I would say give it a miss, food quality is horrible there.
I have just had dinner buffet at Bankstown RSL, I personally think it maybe the best Star Buffet in Sydney when compared to the other 2 Star Buffets, though the people who live at/near Bossley Park & Penrith should visit the closer ones.
Weekdays Bankstown Star Buffet has No cold prawns but school prawns salad mixed with seafood sticks during lunchtime now but Ashfield does which opens 6 days a week.
Need to tell others that Bankstown RSL provides/d Birthday Free Star Buffet Vouchers to members and the other 2 clubs do not. Membership is $10/ year or $25 for many years to 2047!🎉
It is real, my friend joined Membership to 2047 for just $25 last December.

However, it may vary.
Moreton Bay Bugs are also known as Flathead Lobsters.
If it is just $88/person, such an easy job to eat 40 oysters to breakeven in the beginning.

Epicurean definitely has more variety and you also have more options with seafood (like lobster and snow crab and they had tuna sashimi tooo) but i actually cant eat that much, so was happy with the options that the langham had for lunch. and they also had less people at the time i went, so that was nice too haha

My take on buffet... every now and then I'm really keen to have it, i went to epicurean last week but after each plate, I'm like I can get better seafood than this, I can get better sashimi than this, i can get better cold cuts than this, I can get better dim sum than this, I can get better meats than this, I can get better curries than this, I can get better dessert than this... my take is food is always 6 out of 10 at a buffet, and it's the variety that entices you, but you'd never pay for any individual dish at the buffet.
Table 30 parkroyal Parramatta seafood buffet , 65 bucks don't quote me. Every 2nd Saturday until march late or April, went years ago enjoyed it. 😊😂😊

Langham’s buffet is better than Crown’s, on par with Star’s IMHO, slightly more expensive though and parking is harder.
Epicurean at Crown Sydney used to be my favourite in Sydney, but because I actually can't eat everything there, I actually really liked this lunch one at the Langham, when taking into account the price + options!

Epicurean (Crown) has lobster, but it isn't very good quality. Langham has 1/2 a lobster per person on Monday night. It's not unlimited. The advertising is deliberately ambiguous, don't be fooled thinking it's unlimited because it's not.
0:06 has Moreton Bay Bugs & 0:16 has lobsters but in the rest of video I did not see them. So did you eat them during your 2 hours lunch session?
there are no Moreton Bay bugs or lobsters at the Langham Sydney $88 lunch (despite what the website says). The shots of the bugs are from Epicurean (at the Crown hotel), and the shot of the lobster is from Langham Gold Coast dinner. The thumbnail misleadingly has a picture of oysters and crab legs from Epicurean which has NOTHING to do with Langham Sydney $88 lunch
I saw Epicurean in this channel before I tried weekday lunch just after Lockdown was lifted in NSW. $88 is a small deal for oyster lovers who can at least eat 50 Sydney Rock Oysters easily. Plus some sashimi, definitely it is cheaper than Sydney Fish Market.
I wonder if grilling while you eat other foods is a good concept. Maybe by the time grill is ready to eat. You are fully eaten out and have no more room left in the tummy.

Try Epicurean (again) and highlight what the difference is in offerings between lunch/dinner, different days. In a nutshell I think the most expensive dinner has Crab legs, bugs, 2 types of cooked oysters, Scallop ceviche, cooked prawns, no time limit. The cheaper dinners may only have 1 type of cooked oyster, no cooked prawns and 2 hr time limit? the cheapest lunch only has oysters, crab and sashimi? Other buffets to try include Feast (at the Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park) - Formerly Sheraton on the Park, although going by reviews it doesn't seem very good. There's the Park Royal at Parramatta (their last offering is this Saturday dinner), then you have the Japanese bbqs (Kobe Wagyu, Gyozou etc). Also hotpot buffet in Burwood (Legend), RSL buffets (Bankstown, Bossley Park etc)

I think you need to check the price list. Weekday, weekend & public holidays. Lunch & dinner. Usually, different prices different food in the same restaurant but 4/339 Sussex Street & Se Jong are different prices but same food everyday.
