  • Went through some recordings of old Pinkpop performances from 1983 which were broadcasted last summer.
Ran into one of my guitar heroes Gary Moore performing "Cold Hearted". I was and still am a big fan of his guitar sound and work.
    Band members:
    Gary Moore - Guitar, Vocals
    Ian Paice - Drums
    Neil Murray - Bass
    Don Airey - Keyboards
I thought I better share it. Enjoy it.

I'm always so impressed by Gary's playing. As a guitarist myself it's like 'How the hell did he do that'? He has this crazy attitude and confidence in what he does.

Other than the singing and playing, he had the attitude., You can see it when he moves all over the stage. What a great artist he was. Really missed...

Man listen to that guitar tone. Gary can really make that Stratocaster scream and have that fat ballsy tone.

INSANE passion! Fire!!! Gary was truly one of the greatest that sadly never received the attention he deserved in the States. I loved his blues LPS but his rock stuff was the best. Shapes of Things... Cold Hearted... just go DOWN the list. Gary was a God. True Rock & Metal God. I miss him as so many do.... so dearly.

Using a vintage strat most definately going thru a bunch of marshall stacks using an old boss ds1, also could be using a roland space echo the preamp really fattens up the tone. Theyre amazing

He used nice gauge strings. His guitar had a bit of fight! So many people now sound the same. Light as possible strings. Low low action.

Don Airey is another hero of mine. Hey I miss Jon terribly. Don has been in the business a long time. Just review the resume of Don. So you can say Jon is irreplaceable. That's true. But Don is incredible and has assumed the mantle. And I'm ok with that. Oh and this video why does Neil Murray get no love. That guy is great. Roger Glover said he was worried about his job

Killer line up with a virtual who's who at each instrument. Gary Moore just had so much feel and great tone that he could play any style he wanted withequal emotion. This was during his hard rock years, but yet you can hear the blues he always maintained.
I was lucky to see him at the Cape Cod Civic Center on the Corridors of Power tour and was just blown away. It was general admission and you know damn well whose cabinets I was parked in front of - AMAZING!!
