These guys will show up anywhere there's a market to exploit. If somebody started spray painting trash they found in dumpsters and had success getting people to buy it as "art", these guys would be right in there, branding their own spray painted trash and selling it to everyone for thousands.
Gary V realized he could make more selling his own cards. If he is involved, you will lose your money. Just like Gary, Charles Ponzi was very charismatic as well.
Gary made his $$ and moved on. As did many big $$ guys. Pumped the market, dumped thier investments and.moved in. Now all the pom pom wavers are holding the bag riding the coaster back to pre 2019 prices.
And a lot of these guys holding the bag have these buy it now prices inflated on eBay. Talk about denial. Would be better selling for what you can get and buy a CD.
These social media hypebeast grifters always need to be pumping something new. The scam hoax of NFTs exposed these people for what they are and a lot of people won’t be fooled again.
People just use the hobby to make money, and then they disappear. It’s almost like people putting ads on their channel all the time to make more money that goes away from what they started.
I'll give it to Gary V that he's a very shrewd businessman. He knows what people are interested in and he's smart at funneling people into that thing and profiting from it. I very much think he treated sports cards that way. Saw the interest rising, came in and started talking big, made some serious coin off the cards he was pumping and then funneled that into his own cards and NFTs, all while propping it up with his childhood background in cards. He's very smart.
I LOVE celebrity autos! Do i wish there were more, yes, do i think there's a huge opportunity if done correctly to swoop in and make a splash with celeb autos? Yes. When i say done right, i mean well designed, on card stuff. That's one of the reasons i love celebrity autos from the 90's, stupid sticker autos wasn't really a thing back then. I enjoy pop century stuff, but i just feel it's cheaply done and poorly designed. It doesn't feel like a high quality product. And the prices for these continue to climb and to me are starting to do not be worth the investment.
Gary's a huge narcissist who's too busy with his own VeeFriends cards to be bothered with the hobby. Luber's just throwing shit at a wall, hoping something sticks.
Why doesn't anyone talk about how when a huge star athlete like idk Patrick Mahomes signs a contract with a card company to do autograph's and takes the payment up front but then as soon as he gets a monster deal with his team says screw it I don't want to fulfill my obligation and buys his way out of the contract with the card company leaving all those fans who had the misfortune of pulling a stupid redemption card of him or even worse buys one from the person who pulled it left holding the bag?
pop culture cards... cryptozoic, cardsmiths, upper deck, panini, mtg secret lair, camilii, kakawow global... i think pop culture is getting plenty of love right now. Tons of options, just have to look.
It was sports cards .. it was an inflow of the stim $$ and "extra liquidity".. Generational wealth transfer . Would've made more money in stocks/crypto than cards
I like when athletes discuss and post their collectibles. You guys are great also.....the other 2 - I roll my eyes and laugh. Good for them with all the money they made - none of it was from me.
How do you insult us real nerds that are smart. You mean to say Dorks 🤪 Nows your time to shine and take over where Gary V left off 😀 and NO! Timmy D is way better than Drew Brees and has 5 times as many Championships! 😀
The problem was that these guys already had money so they could afford to get into it enough to get more out of it, and they advised people under the assumption that they also had the budget for it. In other words if you were on a nickel and dime budget your profit margin or percentage potential was almost nothing significant and they weren’t thinking that people who were somewhat poor would be stupid enough to spend thousands on retail boxes literally just throwing their money away
did gary v pump up nba topshot at any time........buy and trade a clip of LeBron dunking the ball on a restricted platform with restricted rights (no copyright, no royalties)....great idea
They were here when base cards were pumped to the moon now they’re nowhere to be found. I’m just glad I never took their advice. I grew myself a big collection that I’m currently satisfied with at the moment and haven’t followed much of the influencers who were at the forefront. I stick to what I know and that is just basketball and at occasion other stuff like Pokémon and other smaller markets like wrestling.
I am pretty sure Gary is still active in the hobby, but has held back from talking/posting about it too much because of all of the backlash he was getting. Anytime he posted about a card in the past the prices skyrocketed and he was bashed for pumping the market. I don't think that was his intent, but just goes to show the impact of his influence over all of his supporters.

Gary V the original opportunistic scammer.
Ok so what is your objection to that?!?
@@Akho21570 he won. He saw that cards were cheap. How was he wrong?
It’s called “Hot Trash.” Check it out 🤪
Yeah what ever happened to this V friends cards that were going for crazy amounts? He really skinned the sheep as they say.

Sure they will be, anytime suckers sniff $$$$$ they jump on anything like a dog in heat.
Remember Gary Vee's Zerocool cards? Yeah absolute 💩 show. So stupid
Yeah, I really disliked those cards. Couldn't have been much worse.
Alf , great visual background addition.
💯 😆
ALF puppet action?
What can I say I'm a fan , in fact I may still have mine .@@bam92027
Big collector in Patrick Bet David, you should try to interview him

You mean a dude who is a social media hype machine bought cards then hyped the hell out of em , sold em and now is out ? WHO KNEW !?
Also the timing of the MJ doc was spot on! Excellent doc
Gay Vee is a tourist. The Tai Lopez of Cardboard
Wow. So he saw cards were cheap and told you. Then he got out when cards were no longer cheap. What is your problem with that?
@@cedarpark4052 What was inaccurate about my comment. School me.

I heard Gary on Jim Rome's show Superbowl week. He is such a dbag
Never really understood the appeal of Gary V. Always came across as a snake oil salesman to me. V Friends was very weird.
Excellent observation.

It's almost like the rich people knew what was going to happen in 2020. Gary left sports cards because the TCG market is stronger.
And?
Luber was always a Doof.. I never believed in the idiotic hype around him at the time. Zero Cool indeed....
Did anyone else ask how, exactly, Luber was going to “10x the hobby”?
Could care less about Gary vee
Does anyone else think these 90s inserts that sell for many multiples of what they did in 2018 are a grift? Hard to trust anything I see anymore.

Luber wants to be the next Kaws. Won’t happen.
Josh Luber looked and acted like a teenager. Fanatics was smart to get rid of him early.
I would like to see more influencers promote the cards themselves 🤔...like history of the hobby and why certain cards are rare.
I wish this guy would keep his man crush for GaryVee to himself. The card bubble is over and so is GaryVee. Get over it!
