RIP to Dikembe Mutombo. I remember kids were chasing his upper deck rookie card along with Larry Johnson. His upper deck was his best rookie card. Very affordable

The first three minutes of these shows are absolutely brutal. Like RUclips Premium needs to use AI to fix this so those with a subscription don't have to manually fast forward the extended informercial.

Matt Stafford, who has actually won a Super Bowl and will likely end up with a better career than any of Justin Herbert, Joe Burrow, or Trevor Lawrence, recently saw a rookie Topps Chrome refractor PSA 10 sell for $310. You can tell there are a toooooon of people holding bags on these guys, to the point they keep bidding up their cards to be worth 2x-3x what a comparable Stafford rookie card is worth. Completely irrational market in football

I do not speculate on QB’s anymore as i learned my lesson in the 90’s: David Klingler, Heath Shuler, Trent Dilfer, Kerry Collins, Ryan Leaf, Tim Couch, Cade McKnown, Akili Snith to name a few.
So many idiots who lost money on TL and JH won’t have learnt anything and will pump money into this years QB’s🙄

Until non QBs get any love price wise, modern FB is for short term speculating and gamblers
pretty much. I do know of quite a few team/players collectors etc on the football card side, but all the social media etc is around the next QB prospect
I agree. It seems that way with vintage football, too. I mean Jim Brown. Probably the Walter Payton? But most of the attention is on the QB's.
Always attention to the QBs. They win the Superbowl. If I buy non QBs it's defensive players that have records that will never be touched. Stacking all 90s inserts of Reggie and Bruce. If you know you know.
Joe Burrow played great the past two games. The Bengals have a terrible defense, but that is not Burrow’s fault.

All the football market has, with regard to upward price action, is pumping every single new rookie QB as much as possible. There is almost no appreciation for history of the game and top players at any other position than QB, so that's what the hype bois have to roll with when ripping off everyone on new wax that's at least 5x the price they paid for it. Most of these guys who are doing well in the NFL right now, are ones who can adapt to systems and actually read a defense. All this "every team is playing 2 deep safties/Tampa 2/Steelers 1970's defenses" excuse is just cover for these fools who breezed through college on talent and no actual learning ability to understand what they're looking at on an NFL field. These coaches who have finally recently admitted they're basically running whatever college offense these guys came from, prove it.

With this QB class, more money will be thrown away this year than probably ever before.

Let's call it like it is. Herbert is not a special QB. He's a tier below Mahomes, Allen and Jackson. He's a good QB just not generational. Going on his 5th year I've seen enough hobby-wise to know he's plateaued imho

Herbert is playing with a high ankle sprain. He is a top five QB when he is healthy.

Since 1966, approximately 721 QB's have played one game in the NFL, about 3% are in the Hall of Fame, I wouldn't be holding a $20k 1/1 gold vinyl Trevor Lawrence too much longer, way too much speculation in sports cards, however it's the engine that drives the prices up and down

I don't know much about modern football, but I do watch the Ravens games on Sundays. Since I live in Maryland however, some of my family members also support the Washington Commanders team, too. Jaylen Daniels looks legit though, it's only been 4 games. There was another great player who, well looked like he was going to be great. Until he wasn't. And that is Robert Griffin the 3rd. He had a very solid rookie season. Was never the same after the injury. Prospecting QB's to me, is fool's gold. Sure, there are some people that get lucky or whatever, but wouldn't recommend. Though different strokes for different folks. Just really isn't for me.

I get it. A lot of people don't like him, he barely got drafted, he's not 6'6", he doesn't have the cannon that Mahomes has.
He just wins. And he's still winning. When he lost 3 of his best offensive weapons the past couple weeks, nothing changed. Put some respect on his name.

I’ve been a die hard football fan & collector. I collect Basketball as well, but mainly I’ve been a vintage collector for NBA.
Football has always been the most volatile market. Every second of every game is another extremely good chance someone gets injured. If you park big money in anyone currently playing. Outside of perhaps Mahomes & Rodgers, (who have pretty much cemented their legacies) all other QBs are an anxiety-filled proposition to invest in.
As far as modern collecting/investing, basketball is by far the safer bet. With NBA modern era sets, you have Curry, Lebron, & a lot of up & coming younger players. They still run risk of injury (Derrick Rose comes to mind as one who “coulda been”) but it’s less of a contact sport. I’d buy a Luka Card before a Joe Burrow or Justin Herbert, because it feels safer.
If buying wax, the cards inside the NBA product have the bonafide vets & rookies, whereas NFL has so many products that fluculate wildly. For instance, 2021 NFL, one moment you had 5 or more promising rookies, and the next you have a position player like Amon Ra being the best possible card.
I mean Jefferson, Collins, Metcalf, Addison, Aaron Jones, Evan’s, Goodwin , Chase are all better players then most of the Qbs behind top 3 QB’s (Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, and should be valued more. I mean Herbert, Lawrence, Tua, , Murray, Jones rookies should be considered as common players
