When the E46 M3 CSL came out I lusted after it. I ended up buying a MY 2006 M3 Competition Package in late 2005 which was the closet that I could get in the US. I'm sure that this car is more capable - but it's approximately 600lbs heavier. I didn't feel anything but disappointment watching you cover everything.
Really wish they would put the m4 grill on regular 4 series. The horizontal slats plus lack of surround make it look much more acceptable.
Love the stripped down build and lightweight design focus....but they're doing way too much with the colors. It looks like what I'd imagine an M4 looking after it's been passed down to its 4th owner, has a salvaged title and full of Autozone accessories.
I was looking for the right words, and you absolutely nailed it. Cut 9 more lbs if you get rid of all the tacky badging. It’s so, so garish. It looks like something a 17 year old would do to a Civic if you gave them $2000 to spend on cheap lighting and plastic fender vents. Anyone that doesn’t know cars would easily confuse this with a teenagers “custom” build. Anyone who knows cars would notice a subtle badge and doesn’t need the car to scream with a megaphone on top of a mountain. There are plenty of tacky people with money. I’m sure this car is sold out already. Maybe I’m just getting old lol. This car is not remotely aspirational to me and genuinely makes me think less of the BMW brand. Oh and side note, to anyone who says this front end design style has grown on them, congratulations on giving up on your dreams and settling 😂
@@EdwardTheMortgageGuyI feel like this car made for all the tech, crypto or trust funds bros. It’s just an expensive exterior kit and probably sold on future car auctions as a collectible 20 years later
The profile look’s like a Gt-R
I don't care what Doug says, saying that the M4 looks above average is the same as saying that the Multipla isn't ugly.
Idk man, i dont like the look of this thing either. Its not even the front, i like it on the m3.. All of the styling looks like its created for the younger crowd. There is no elegance. Those M4 CSL stickers....
I love the M4 and even I know it doesn't look amazing. It looks good to me because I've learned to love it, but objectively I understand it doesn't look great. Mainly the front. However, a modified frozen black M4 with yellow lights and extra aero like the one Tunercult gave away not a long ago looks perfect. Even objectively it looks good. And if you look at an M4 with the Adro body kit it fixes the front grill and makes it look way better
Yellow headlights were standard in parts of continental Europe until the early nineties. So, "heritage". Yellow headlights are easier going for oncoming traffic to look at - resulting in less glare & reduced fatigue.
It's getting real hard to tell these and Mustangs apart at a glance at thumbnail size.
I thought I would be the only person to notice that.
Those seats are pure AWESOME.
The American muscle car motif has been slowly, but surely, been making their way into the German motif of performance models. Ya, ya, the comparison has been long in the tooth, but you have to admit, this M4 CSL definitely has some special edition Mustang angles to it.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that thought it was a Mustang from the side view
I showed my wife the side profile and asked her what she thought it was, and she said, "Is that the new Mustang?"
Says it all really, doesn't it?
Mustang with BMW badges
@@18rollinhard Mustang looks good
Really says that your wife doesnt know shit about cars
Both cars look amazing so what’s the issue?
@@kraenk12 It's pretty obvious, isn't it? The fact you can buy 6 new Mustangs for the price of an M4 CSL.
Yellow front lights reminds me of yellow front light u could see on cars in France many years ago, on cars made before 1993. They looked awesome
Totally agree on the heritage roundel design not being great.
I think it’s funny because it’s 140, but he’s not factoring in the markup which is probably 20k or more, and at that price you can get the M4 Comp and turn it into a CSL, do all the exact same styling crap, JB4 and bolt ons for 10s of thousands cheaper
Wonder why they decided to bring back the CSL trim as opposed to GTS. M4 GTS was disappointing, but the M3 GTS was the coolest M car of this generation. Doubt they could live up to that in today's car climate, but would be interesting to see them try in addition to this badge-monster CSL.
Hell naa, e90 CRT was better than e92 gts
I’m hoping they make the G82 M4 GTS. Would love an M4 GT4 with plates.
The CSL is sweet but I still love the styling of the GTS more
Side profile looks like a Mustang.
Rear looks like an Infiniti.
Front looks like 🐽
😂😂
@Doug DeMuro: These models and years are for real. Good job reviewing this one pimp.
@@GrindSultanYou're right. He usually does do that. I ignore it. I just enjoy looking at it.
Imagine paying 140K for this car 🤯
Doug is 2m high., That thing is HUGE! Basically should be a Grand Tourer. I don't know what are they thinking lol
they managed to make the grill worse
Loved the tail light wave😂
Doug is the kind of guy to go on a weight loss journey to save weight for his car
huge fail on trying to be even a little funny
@@slowery43 look at all your recent comments. They’re all hate 😂😂 who hurt you buddy?
@@slowery43 I thought it was a lot of funny. After all, every pound matters so a lighter driver will be faster.
Seeing the side profile i was pretty sure this was the Mustang CSL 😆
Heavy, ugly, impractical. Why buy this when a GT3 exists?
And it's an auto.
They can throw as much carbon fibre tat at that as they like, it's still boggingly ugly.
Some people must just have a LOT of passion for the CSL model? Because you're correct, that as Doug points out, the model is OUTCLASSED as a dedicated Track Car, while also being completely impractical as a Daily Driver.
I actually really like that Heritage Logo it's draws my eye seeking attention lol
Bloated, ugly and overpriced - yup definitely a modern M car.
That carbon hood is so dope . BMW is the best
the yellow running lights make it look like a hotwheels... pretty cool
I kinda like the yellow running lights honestly!! 👽🛸
Hey Doug! You should try to get ahold of a Golf MK2 or a Golf MK1 that was produced in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina back in ex Yugoslavia. That car has a cult status in Bosnia and Herzegovina! Cheers!
Whats the difference to a Golf 1/2 produced elsewhere?🤔
loving the "Captain Scarlet" bmw logo badging
I've lived BMW since I was a kid!! Ultimate driving machine
Spoiler: The rain shorted out the limited CSL illuminated kickplate.
OEM replacement will be $880 + 1hr BMW labor.
Also, are the door switches still responding?
2:20 “at no charge”
Doug means: “at no extra charge” or “they are included in the price of the car”. Subtle difference.
Difference without distinction. Find a better use for your time.
@@ImARealHumanPerson
You too.
Side profile looks very similar to a Mustang
Just came here to say, from the side profile I thought it was a Mustang.
Doug, "The performance Version of the Performance Version." You could have made the video on a sunny day in San Diego. I never take my M4 Comp in the rain.
After all these years Doug has finally upgraded his shorts for a pair of pants.
Yeah ! I noticed that too. No more dork ?
Thanks for this Doug, lol it’s always like Tarantino talking cars instead of movies
The yellow DRL’s are the only thing I like about the exterior.
the plates gave me a chuckle, b47 is the engine i have in my daily beater 4 series
That yellow DRL is by far the best DRL fitted on a BMW
20:07 Min.: You only can compare the steering with the standard M4 when they both have the same tires mounted on! Otherwise you can't figure out, what really affects the feeling more, the steering itself or the tires!
