    I am here because of the discussion from Dr. Paul Mason about gallstone. He said, gall bladder is a reservoir for salt or emulsifier for fat digestion. The gall bladder’s work is to store and release this bile salt and it should be that way if we eat healthy fat on our diet.
    Due to low fat or the absence of fat in our diet, the gall bladder’s storing and emptying mechanism is obstructed, thus in this video perfectly demonstrated. It was just a touch on explanation from Dr. Mason for 1 minute, so i am here to confirm it.

    For those who r bit confused about water % in Bile :There is 97% water in Hepatic bile. In the gallbladder, up to 90% of the water in bile is absorbed into the bloodstream, making the remaining bile very concentrated. In the video he has discussed about composition of bile that's present in gallbladder...

    How do i go about building a computer simulation of this process on a cellular level? I mean are there any books devoted to the mathematics of the gallbladder? I want to build the model and test whether it fits actual data or not. I have no background in chemistry and biology though, only maths, physics and computer science.

    Sir, another discrepancy I want to point out is related to Brown stones. Video says they are formed by non enzymatic, non bacterial hydrolysis, while again Bailey & Love says "Stone formation is related to the deconjugation of bilirubin deglucuronide by bacterial beta-glucuronidase. Insoluble unconjugated bilirubinate precipitates."

    I heard young mothers are also more at risk for gull stones after pregnancy...under 25 or so... Any idea why?

    Hey ! Bailey and Love 27ed. says "As it(bile) leaves the liver it is composed of 97% water, bile salts, phospholipids, cholesterol and bilirubin" ... While the video said "small amounts of water, electrolytes etc." .... Just wondered if there's a discrepancy.
    Anyways, nice video though.

      I think this is because in the video he was talking about the concentrated bile stored in the gallbladder.

    You didn't discuss treatment, only causes & types of stones. What about info on a gallbladder rupturing and the need for emergency surgery?

    • @DrHopeSickNotes
      @DrHopeSickNotes 6 лет назад +4

      Gallbladder rupture is indeed a surgical emergency, a rare but potentially life-threatening complication, as the contents of the gallbladder will spill into the abdominal cavity causing peritonitis. Therefore any severe abdominal pain and fevers warrants requires visit to a hospital.

      @@DrHopeSickNotes I'm pretty sure I have gallstones that cause some abdominal and back pain when I consume fatty foods. I've been on the lookout for discolored/bloody urine, fever, and even bloody vomit, but nothing as such. Just abdominal pain with what I'm 99% sure is associated with food consumed about 3 or 4 hours prior. I've changed my diet, but I guess my body is telling me the limit of fatty food to eat for any given meal. Today it was about 4 or 5 ounces of potato chips for lunch, as well as a peanut butter sandwich on whole grain (multi-grain, with seeds!). Fortunately (or maybe unfortunately if I have another bout of severe pain), I have an appointment for a full abdominal ultrasound. I'm hoping it can be picked up via ultrasound. I'm just glad my pancreas is going to explode since the physicians tested for that a few days ago and all the levels came back within normal range.
      Can gallstones be picked up on ultrasound? REALLY don't want to go for CT/MRI unless it's absolutely necessary.
      Awesome video, sir! Thank you!

      @@icediamonds11 Yeah, it was gallstones. I made an appointment for an ultra-sound, then I had to see a Primary Care Physician so I could receive a referral to authorize surgical removal. The Surgical process wasn't bad, but the recovery was not so awesome. It was uncomfortable for about a week or two. It was mostly just the liquid stitching use, but overall not terrible after the first few days. If I had a more physical employment position it wouldn't be pleasant at all, but since I have an "office" job it's not too bad. I haven't had any issues since the removal and am back to exercising very regularly, so it's definitely worth the procedure if you can do it.

    not me watching this after my laparoscopy to know why my stones are gray and I had increased levels of bilirubin while I wasn't showing sings of yellow pigmentation because my doctor hasn't come to check up on me since my surgery lmao

    Is it better not to eat anything at all,specially for seniors 72 years old with benign tumor on my colon. I have brain aneurysm also as well as macula edema. I don't take popcorn,beans,seeds,and others but I take rice,chicken,soup and vegetables. Now how can I get bile acids to dissolve stones on the bladder????
