I gotta say, the production quality of this video is BONKERS. Incredible stuff. Trying sell some of my keeb stuff, not buy more, but these are tempting...
I now have five custom keyboards and all of them are equipped with different HMX switches. They are simply brilliant and you no longer have to lubricate them yourself.
Man... The hibiscus is my absolute top tier switch for creamy/clacky/poppy builds, absolutely love them, no other switch compares to hmx in terms of quality, tolerances (near 0 stem wobble), sound and fabric lube applied. Top of the top like this this video ;)
I highly appreciate that you didn't spare any change with the production of this video. As an unabashed HMX enjoyer -- particularly all of the Blue-themed ones -- good job on distinguishing the differences, however "minor" they are. They might sound similar, but what I do to get the most out of each is put them in different configurations -- different board material (i.e. PC vs Alu), or different mounting styles to achieve variations.
@@imanuelsetyo2348 theres 2 variants of xinahi one with 63.5g bottom, one with 45g bottom out. if you switch to the lighter variant u probably will notice the difference in feel with the longer spring, and the heavier one ull definitely notice the heavier spring and idk how to explain it but because of the long spring it almost feels kinda tactileish but theres no bump obviously its just cause the actuation and bottom out are so close
Great Video. Liked and Subscribed. I've been shocked to see how popular these switches are getting. It reminds me of how JWK started taking over the hobby. I wonder if we'll also start seeing a wave of people getting bored with these switches and eventually going back to Cherry for that signature nylon sound over time. As a Cherry Black enjoyer, seeing the love given to Clack is awesome.
wow I’m late to the party here, but definitely agree with others that have said this is an exceptional video, very thoughtfully researched, appreciate you sharing your thoughts! I really like the Machiattos myself, they definitely have an interesting quality about them that I’ve never heard in the many cherry, gateron, and tecsee switches I’ve tried in the past. Gotta give it to them for churning out impressively usable switches from the factory!
Damn, that's crazy, I've been glazing ktt switches for years now and haven't tried any hmx switches, I assume they sound very marbly with the long pole and ktt molds which is a very popular sound signature which could be a reason why they are so popular roses are goated
They may all be sorta kinda the same, but I still gotta give HMX switches a ton of credit for shifting the meta to clacky, more people can see the light now
This is an awesome video. I personally have been a fan of HMX Garnets, Duck ducks, and Poros. But another fantastic contender brand that you need to keep an eye out for is SWK or Swagkeys branded switches. The collabs they do always sell out and the best ones are Catmints and the Ripple switches
I have an acrylic switch couture alice keyboard. what switch should i go for? im currently using morandi switches and im looking for switches that i don't need to lube.
I really appreciate the in depth, thoughtful and clear thoughts on the HMX switches overtake ☺️ I have definitely thought that while very smooth and comfortable to type on, all the sound signatures lean towards clacky and high to medium pitch. Good to have a few in the collection for that sound profile. I’ve been meaning to try more from BSUN, let us know if you have any thoughts on them too ☺️
awesome video! great job explaining the HMX lineup. Although I personally like the Canglan's more then the Hibiscus and the EVA's. Regardless the Macchiato's are the best HMX switch :) I suggest giving some of the SWAGKEY's switches a try. Been loving the Ghost Dragon, Mocha, Ripple and Jieum lately and they've helped me get over the HMX addiction lol
Whoa whoa whoa, what a fantastic video I just stumbled upon. kudos good sir, please never stop creating. I was curious as I'm currently building out new first board and HMX as you said is highly praised, however I was curious about their new retro80 line of switches and specifically the GAME 1989, do you by any chance had time to look these over compared to the ones listed in this video and would you recommend them?
Sorry, I haven't seen them yet, but I just searched them up and I love how they look! I will try to ask around to see if I can get my hands on some for sure
@@yourhomiesushi heat man daily driver in school, not so much as I do end up missing mx switches but if i had to pick sum to use lifetime prolly some topre tkl wit a similar experience to hhkb

I've been out of the hobby for a while and looking at these HMX switches, what are the differences between all the T series stems they have, and what is POK exactly, a clackier POM???
At the end of the day, they're all just plastic blends. Early on in the keyboard hobby, we were met with plastics like POM. However, as manufacturers started experimenting, we got materials like UMWHPE and LY. From what I know, POK is similar to POM (high performance thermoplastic) but is more durable and more stiff, resulting in a clackier sound. I'm not sure what T refers to, but I'm guessing it's type 2 and type 3 plastic?
@@yourhomiesushi Yes. I was on divinikey and some HMX switches have stems listed as T2, T3, T5 etc. Was just wondering what the blend differences were. Thank you
hey, i just got a new keyboard. It's FuryCube F75, it comes with HMX "Lemon Grape" switch which is so smooth and clacky, feels good just like HMX Hyacinth if i were to compare it on a youtube video... But the probelm is that i can't find these HMX "Lemon Grape" switch anywhere... why is that? anyone got any answer? Thanks ~
quick question, how they compare to akko switches? its quite dificult to find a better brand than akko where im from, at least at the same price range, i got a box of 45 akko lavender purples V3 for about 8$ from aliX last week, and they feel great, sadly i only had outemu, redragon and v1 matcha greens so far so my sample size is not remarkable, but i can clearly feel the difference in manufacturing quality, would love to get my hands on some HMXs to try out, but at roughly 5$ for 10 pieces its not a great financial decision for me rn
0.50 a piece sounds pretty steep for HMX but if everything else is similarly difficult for you to get your hands on, then it might be worth a shot! Btw, where are you from?
@@yourhomiesushi I once went to an art store with a switch just to see which lead holder would also hold stems man I love lead holders, I lost my favorite one though :(

My top 3 HMXs are Xinhais, Garnets, and Cheese. I might have a problem though, because I currently own about 400 Xinhais
The xinhai sound is so clear and defined, idk how else to describe it but it sounds like how 4k video looks lol
Do you think switching from 45g switches to the Xinhai would lead to a noticeable adjustment?
