Great job building this and especially teaching your children. She will appreciate what she has knowing she helped..

Thank You! I love that she loves to learn... and actually wants to do this. That makes it easier for me to have fun with teaching and also have a great helper. If she wasn't willing to learn and put in the effort, this whole experience would not be the same for me. I am using this RUclips platform not to just document this experience of building a ranch from scratch for other to enjoy and learn from, but also for my own daughter and hopefully her children and generations to come, to be able to go back and see what we built with our own hands and hopefully also learn from. Passing down the skills and knowledge in video.

Your building looks great but the quality time with your Daughter in Amazing. Spend quality time with your children and make them feel loved, wanted, worthy and build their self-esteem up so they go out into the world with confidence!
    Cheers!!

Thanks! My favorite part of this whole project is building it as a family... and the fact that my daughter "wants" to do this. She loves to build and create with her own hands and learn and then teach others. It is so fun.

    I think not.
She started out just pulling the trigger and saying “I don’t like that” to literally one haded bump-firing
    And saying “oh yeah”.
    😂😂😂
I do these projects with my three daughters as well.
    Good job dad!

Dang, that girls got more upper body and arm strength than a lot of adult men...You go girl!
Makes me think back to when my Dad had my sister & I re roof our house when i was 12 & my sister was 14. Neither one of us were even 100lbs, but we did that roofing job with only minor help from our Dad occasionally..It was punishment for attempting to have a party when we thought our parent's were out for the night. Nope, they totally came home an hour after wed invited friends over, lesson learned ...We ended up having a blast regardless that Summer on our rooftop.

Awesome. Thanks. I think passing down hands on knowledge to our children is becoming lost in this convenience focused and technology driven world, and I am personally using this RUclips Channel to record what we are building with our own hands and a lot of hard work so she can share with her own kids some day. Happy to hear that you may be doing the same.

  • @thecovelife5793

How did you secure your joists at the wall where you put the ledgers? I have a pole barn with 6x6s 8' on center and am trying to figure out how to attach a ledger. Didnt really want to build a wall but I may not have a choice.

    • @frameriteairdrie578
      @frameriteairdrie578 2 года назад +1

I've done a few like that and the best way is to use an engineered beam (LVL) that spans across the posts, with any joint landing on the centre of post. Once its nailed in place, use some 5/16 GRK screws to screw it to posts. I try to get a minimum 5 per post or 6 were there's a join. Screws should be long enough to go at least 3" into post. Heavy nailing, screwing a 2' block on each post underneath the beam will give even better strength.

    • @FromScratchRanch

16ft high in the main area between the lofts. Standard 8 ft ceilings downstairs, but only 7 ft tall in the lofts as the subfloor, flooring and downstairs ceiling drywall take up the other foot.

okay my friend very nice work ,and proper skills and integerityof your work ,but I have to say you seem to be very experienced and that is why im sayin this and the only reason im even going to go here is the fact that you obiviously love your daughter no question .so whydont you look out for her safety also , I see you stay out of the way of the nail gun ,but you shot the gun in her direction so many times . have you never seen what a nail does when it hits a knot in the timbers or any thing to cause the misfire direction of a object coming out of the nail gun and that's not the only thing when she is cutting with the saw she has the rite idea but how about if she moves just a little to quick and the wrong way ,is she going to know what todo if her hair gets caught up in her saw . plz just take a little time and expect the unexpected so maybe all your projects can be successful and everyone go home that day safe and in one piece . thanks again and I really did enjoy your knowledge and professionalism but maybe try to teach proper safrty before it teaches you in not a nice favorable way !!!!!!
