Such a gorgeous book - each shed is unique and inspiring, and I love all the tiny details Kotite features to help readers imagine how to create their own She Sheds ruclips.net/user/postUgkxe9yi0sulKgsp0VJJCIrLWWkvVqcU7LFR . The feature on Dinah's Rustic Retreat is like something from a fairy tale. It's really inspiring to see how creative all these ordinary people are in making beautiful and useful spaces on a modest scale.

    • @pathfinder9071
      @pathfinder9071 4 года назад +8

So you agree with the necessity/appeal of double toilets but you don’t agree with the necessity/appeal of double sinks... Think about that for a second... lmfao. First off it completely defies logic how does one “make sense” but not the other?Second, you’re gonna have to route a second set of vent pipes and traps from a toilet so you don’t have to wait. And then you’ll be standing in the bathroom with an unwiped ass while ur wife brushes her teeth, does makeup etc. at the one single sink. Because you deemed it un important lol. Get out of the way honey I just took a dump in one of our two toilets but we only have one sink. That would be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. You’re trying to sound simple and low maintenance but your bathroom would be inefficient as fuck I know you’re speculating if just saying ur comment makes no sense whatsoever.

I lived in what you call a barn, for 4 years 1/2 was garage and 1/2 was in an small house with storage on top. To keep out the gas smells, the house part had doors with gaskets and the house it's sealed and vented to out side. You can get sick over time if you don't seal your living area. Great idea. Worked for me. Your set up looks cool too.

I love the build. If I would change anything at all, it would be the maple stained cabinet doors over the stove. I think I would prefer a continuation of the dark gray, flat panel finish. The only other thing I might add would be a large picture window in the living area. Overall, it's a super sweet home.

Brian O'Neil my favorite part was 12:39 where he tells us the entire building is 50’ x 50’ and the living side is 25’ x 50’.
But what about the shop side? I mean, like, how big is that side? I instantly started to worry they were not going to tell us the size of the shop side. After all, who can do such complex math in their head? I’m not a math-e-magician.
Then, he did explain the shop side is also 25’ x 50’.
Man, that was a close one.

Some friends of mine bought a farm house, which the prior owner had done an arrangement rather like the kitchen/living space in the barndominium. it also had a mudroom/bathroom/laundry room adjacent to the living space. It being a large old house there was also a formal dining room and a formal living room. The living space/kitchen was so adaptable, the formal spaces were pretty much wasted. The upstairs living space was also nicely arranged.

Have you not been to central valley, the Sierra, or the desert? Inland CA, away from the tech/banking/finance cities is ag/tourism. I have friends who live inland, they are tradesmen, farmers, religious, and Trump supporters. In central valley, even the scenery looks like TX and the people are the same religiously, politically, philosophically. Bakersfield to Redding, I would bet $10 you can find multiple sheet metal buildings meant for ag/industrial use with people living in them. Most will not be attractive and luxurious, but I bet some are much like this

I did a delivery to an undisclosed location once somewhere in the Midwest, backed up to the largest pole barn you've ever seen. It was easily big enough to park a large commercial airliner in.
This was on a pretty big farm so I wasn't really surprised, I was sort of surprised that I was delivering a $2,000 refrigerator to this barn though.
Long story short there was a legitimate single story house inside this giant pole barn, like, they built the barn around the house.
    I didn't ask any questions.

    Great build!
A friend built a Barndominium about 12yrs ago in Brock, Texas. It's quite a bit more larger, elaborate and fancy than this build. Like this build, It was split between living and shop areas. From the street, it looks like a big barn/shop. Like this build, it had a large kitchen/dining and living room. This area was vaulted with rustic like beams in the ceiling, giving it a huge open feeling. Off to the side of this area, there's wall of windows with a glass door outlooking the porch area. Huge master suite with an amazing master bath and huge walk-in closet was next to the living.kitchen/ dining area. On the same side, there was a large two car garage with entrance from the living area.
Other than the obvious "guy thing" with the shop next door, this style of home can be VERY energy efficient to boot. This guy's grandson owns a spray foam insulation business, so both sides are well insulated.Since the shop area must be sealed from the living area, you have this huge dead air area above the living area, which adds immensely to it's insulation. I've been in the home in the heat of the summer with the A/C coming on for a couple minutes once an hour.
An amazing home with an amazing owner. He was 89yrs old when he built it and he's still active and running strong.

Nice clean plan - love the cabinet details: colors, brushed nickel pulls, x pattern!! Yay for teamwork! 🙌 thanks for showing the shop!

Really like that the kitchen cabinets go all the way up and you filmed this in widescreen! This looks amazing. The island fits the size of the kitchen. You guys did such a lovely job. Thanks so much for the video.

@@BannedPhotoshop lol well, it's only a 1 bedroom. But I mostly said that because I could use a large shop attached to my quarters. Many don't need or even want that. But I hear ya.

You might consider plug ins on the island for crock pots, warmers, or griddles and even toasters for using it as a breakfast table.

I enjoy learning about all the different home ideas. I like a nice living quarters with room for awesome stuff. This helps show people there are many options out there besides the same old cookie cutter crap.
