Just FYI, I was a vet tech for 16 yrs, if your dog has a sensitive stomach or trouble with digestion, it's perfectly fine to use white rice, it's easier to digest than brown rice. :)

I’m on my third week fallowing your recipe. It’s extremely rare for me to write responses for things I run across online. For starters I’ve been cooking for my dogs for years. They have always had some of the ingredients in your recipe. I also competed as a bodybuilder for many years so food prep is in my DNA. I owned a Instantpot so I figured I would give it a try. I have two dogs both rescues. Bella is a Pitbull. Roman is mostly German shorthair. Roman has always had stomach issues. It was always a three day event. One day good second day not so good third day he would spray paint the lawn. He would repeatedly need to get up sometimes three times a night🤬 From the first meal he has had zero digestive issues. I could not be more grateful and humbled. You simply are an Angel 😇. From the bottom of my heart. I thank you and equally important my dogs thank you. If any of you are skeptical feel free to ask me questions. This lady knows her stuff.

Did you always cook for your dogs? My 2 dogs right now eat normal Blue Buffalo dry kibble but I’d like to switch to cooking for them because I think it’d be better for them. I just don’t know how to gradually switch them over

@@danieljamieson7831 do it for sure!!! Blue Buffalo is not good, heck any kibble isn’t good. I would wean them off the kibble by doing half kibble and half of the homemade stuff then gradually keep adding more of the homemade & less kibble, and then no kibble!

Just a heads up ... Spinach has a lot of oxalates ... They absorb calcium ... best to use it only a couple times a week ... True for humans and reptiles also ... You might try collard, mustard or dandelion greens in stead ... Dandelion greens are so easy to grow yourself ... Kale is hard on the thyroid ... so use it only a couple times a week as well ... For extra calcium and omega 3's ... I add a can of sardines ... My dog does not do well with rice ... I use sprouted oatmeal instead ... Hope this is helpful ... Thanks for caring about our wonderful canine companions ... Sending lots of love your way.

Best recipe! Gave my 14 year old dog his health and youth back in 8 days!!! He was sad, antisocial, thin, and getting worse each day. $3k vet bill and scary bloody morning forced me to look for anything to help him. He was diagnosed with IBS. This diet has given him back to us. He is demanding good, 3 walks a day, is fluffy and has gained healthy weight. 🙏 THANK YOU! We tell everyone we know with ailing dogs to get them on this recipe!

He’s a senior, has only 2 teeth & since I adopted him in May he’s had gastric issues on and off (vomiting, refusing to eat, constipated) & I just feel so much better giving him this food as opposed to the canned food he had before. I think it's super important to mention how many calories this entire batch yields. I carefully calculated (using the exact ingredients she got from Aldi) 4000 calories for the entire batch (give or take 100 calories). Be sure to research how many calories your dog needs in one day so that you can portion it appropriately. On another note, I made this today and my dog looooved it. She ate it so fast. I've made dog food in the past but I stopped because the recipe was overly complicated and only made about 2 days of food, however this batch will last her almost 2 weeks. Thank you so much for the recipe!

I recommend not saying "stay" so many times. Say it once, wait for them to stay. If they don't, they don't get their food until they're calm and do a stay. If they do, then give them the food. Same with "sit" and any other commands.

Chicken, fish, lamb, pumkin, peanutbutter ,all grains and oats, my poor Lily, she was itching and chewing herself raw.😿 I now feed her 1/2 cup of taste if the wild kibble, 1/4 of canned dog food and 1/2 cup of graded raw broccoli, cauliflower and carrots mix, and some turmeric powder, warm water and 1 spoon of coconut oil. Her skin is so much better, she is sleeping better, smells better, and the scratching and chewing has stopped significantly. Her bald spots are full of new fur. My pup was suffering for so long.

I’ve been making my dogs food for about five years now but I do a raw dog food which is even healthier. The thing that I noticed is your recipe is missing is chicken or turkey heart and liver plus they need the calcium from turkey neck but you cannot cook this or it will splinter. I also have a Yorky and I used to have a Yorky Poo who lived to be 17 years old and I swear the diet is what made the difference. My dogs had allergies and were chewing on their feet and body a lot so that’s why I switched. I add a dog probiotic and a raw food dog multivitamin powder. I was given this recipe from a friend of mine who is a dog intuitive and Nutritionalist. I batch the vegetables and then freeze them and thaw them as I need them. Broccoli and zucchini as well as yellow squash are really good for them. You have to do spinach in moderation it can be toxic. I also add blueberries as an antioxidant and sometimes a little apple other than that your recipe looks great. I hope this is helpful. We have our local butcher make up our dog blend with chicken, turkey, turkey neck, liver and heart there is a certain proportion that I can give anyone who is interested. The butcher puts it in 2 pound frozen bags. There’s also some wonderful brands of freeze dried raw dog food or frozen raw dog food that you can buy from specialty dog stores. I am so glad your puppy is feeling so much better! Enjoy!

you are totally right about the breath regardless of the brand... though as a certified specialist I would also like to give you some tips for even better health! :)
    1. Your dogs (or any other dogs) don't ever need starchy foods. They actually could even be fine without plant matter in their food in general, but some plants (like green veggies and berries) are beneficial. But NOT starchy foods - these just contribute to infections, allergies and potentially obesity. So I would cut on the potatoes, peas and rice. My general advice for plants in the diet is 10% - not keto yet, but surely not too much - and it's better too little than too much.
    2. Dogs need a source of calcium, whether that be raw bones, egg shells or a synthetic supplement (which I would resort to last). Assuming your dogs aren't raw-fed, I recommend egg shells.
    3. Prey animal (beef, chicken etc.) organs (offal) are like the multivitamins for us - so they should certainly be included as well. In a healthy diet, there should be 5-10% liver (raw or cooked) and about 5% heart (raw or cooked), because they are so essential. Other organs, like tripe, kidney or sweetbreads can also be included, but I'm not sure if there's a way to feed them not raw.
    4. 5% of the diet should be fish - it's also really important. You can also feed only fish for the day every 20 days, that's up for you. Since choosing fish is not easy, I'll save time for you and list the most beneficial and safe ones: mussels, salmon, cod, sardine (canned in water only!), trout, herring, mackerel, oysters, shrimp.
    5. Variety is also needed - don't get me wrong, it's good sticking with the recipes you know your dogs like and live healthy on, but there should be room for variety, so I would probably switch up the recipes more often - and the more you change the diet, the better your dogs will tolerate changes. I think every week - every 3 months would be great.
Lastly, thank you for dumping kibble, that's what I fight for every day! :)

@@jadebennett3595 hi, yes you need to mix the new food with the kibble. Start off with 3/4 kibble and 1/4 new food for about 4 to 5 days. Then 1/2 kibble and 1/2 new food for 4 to 5 days. Then 1/4 kibble and 3/4 new food for few days. Then you can put her 100% on the new food. If you don't introduce new food gradually, she will get diarrhea. I only know this because I have a very picky yorkie and have had to find a food she would eat. You can Google and get professional information too.

How many egg shells would you recommend to ensure your dog is getting enough calcium? I worry about my dogs eating bones because they break off big chunks and swallow them whole. I’m trying to get my dogs off kibble. I can’t afford a raw diet but I can afford to make their food. But I’m so confused on figuring out serving sizes and just nutrients they need in general 😩

This is very similar to what I use, and I also add turmeric and dry mustard, occasionally legumes, and brassica veggies like cauliflower, cabbage or kale. I have also subbed out rice for oats, barley or quinoa. My add-ins once cooled, are vitamin and mineral supplement, calcium, oil, kelp, fish oil and a pro and prebiotic. I get as much organic, free-range, and grass-fed components as possible. This is not an inexpensive way to feed dogs, but my two cavaliers are very healthy, and they love their food!

One of my rescued Chis was dragging her rear legs miraculously, within 6 weeks she was running. She was only 6 years old and she now lives with her wonderful adoptive family. The oil also helps with any gastrointestinal and stomach issues.

After wasting money at the pet ER just to be told she’s “fine”, i researched and found that that particular brand can be fatal for some dogs. The only reason I switched to that brand was because what she was eating before was keeping her overweight and she developed a benign fatty cyst. I’ll be making her food from now on. I don't have a dog but I want one... I kinda like the idea of homemade dog food... But while watching the video and your comment, I remembered when I was like 10, my oldest brother 13 found or stole a beautiful border collie... I don't know what that dry food was that my mother fed her but it was moist and kinda looked like ground beef... That dog was running around with my youngest brothers son who was 8 when we got her and her coat was as beautiful as ever... I was in my 30's when she was put down because she went blind... I wonder if the really need all these that vets say they do... She lived over 20 years and never went to a vet! I miss that dog, she was such a human that she would go in the bathroom and get tissue to cover her food and would not go the bathroom if you looked at her! Lol forgive me for writing a book!

Hi Lexy, I got out my note pad and took notes, remarks and ideas (literally) like a good girl lol.
    Here’s what I thought :
*I wanna express my gratitude to you for sharing such crucial, amazing information; I know how challenging it can be trying to figure out how/ what to cook for our fur babies, most information online is not pertinent.
    * as a suggestion: try ( specially for international viewers) to measure the ingredients, instead of using CUPS as a measuring unit. Grams/ Oz are more accurate (imho) i.e. if the pieces are too big the cup is goona have less weight as opposed to very small pieces and thus the weight isn’t gonna be the same ( I guess ) I’m just guessing cause I’m not American and don’t really know how to use a cup as a measurement unit. If you do Oz we can all convert it to whatever unit we use.
    * Your hands and manicure are esthetically pleasing 🥰
    * Your ( maybe engagement?) ring is gorgeous 😊

Also I bought a case of BPA free plastic containers, and I divide a huge stock pot into 30 of these containers (each container has a one day supply), and freeze them so I only have to do this once a month. I just pull one out of the freezer each night and put in the fridge to replace the thawed one I am using that day.

They ate it because they had to. My one dog did vomit a lot and my other dog had a lot of stomach issues. They have both improved tremendously. Unfortunately my one dog is overweight so I’m feeding him just a little more then 1/2 cup a day but they eat the food so fast and lick the bowls for 5 minutes after they’re done eating I’m afraid they’re not getting enough food. Thank you so so much for this! This is amazing! My 17 yr old dachshund has become increasingly picky, he always has been but lately he started rejecting all his food while still looking hungry and scavenging for crumbs around the floor. He's always been thin and can't afford to lose weight, plus we lost his sister 2 months ago and I cannot bear the thought of losing him soon too. So I made the decision to switch him to fresh food as opposed to his kibble mixed with canned food and decided to try Farmer's Dog food delivery. He absolutely loved it, that's all he wanted, "people like food". The problem is, those fresh food companies are too expensive for us. I thought wait a minute, I can make my own. Seems simple enough just meat and veggies. So glad to have found your video, this is extremely helpful and as this week I'll run out of FM I will start making it myself. UPDATE: food was a hit! But when I started mixing some chicken or turkey Farmer’s Dog we still have left he’d reject it. So I have a beef snob and that’s what we’re sticking too. Freezer safe ziplocs work great for storage. I have a second batch in the instant pot as I type this! 🙌

Thank you for the video and info. I was contemplating getting them back on their original high quality kibble but it's $45 for 24lbs and doesn't last like it used. Mine like their food wet anyway, so I've been researching for months for homemade diet and the raw diet. Especially, during the pandemic they're Bison flavored kibble is being bought up, and my 1yo is a very picky eater.

For most dogs for the long term this recipe may have too much vitamin A and can eventually lead to liver toxicity. The Vitamin A is high in the sweet potatoes, carrots, and pumpkin (but this is a great recipe for a dog prone to diarrhea/vomiting shortish term but may need to be adjusted later down the road). You clearly are a great doggie Mom and know what is best for your pup but it may not be the best for every pup. I 100% admire you for making your own doggy food. It just takes so much research! Thank you for inspiring others to feed their dogs healthier food vs. the conventional unhealthy food, they will feel better and live so much longer. ( btw- Whole egg with shells crushed is a great way to add calcium/grounded bone meal).

My dog has been refusing to eat his dry and use to vomit but as soon as I made this he attacked his food bowl 😂 so now he gets home cooked meals.

Best video I've seen on homemade dog food. Fun training tip: Your dog hears you the first time. I've been binge watching @RachelFusaro's videos and she says to say the command one time and then wait until it' been acted on. Been working wonders with my 12-week old pup.

You can put an egg In for calcium with the shell.
I did not notice any difference with my dogs coat with the coconut oil but I tried olive oil and it had helped! I also just get pure balance all natural ingredients with no additives or dyes/colors but I add meat once in awhile with vitamins to it.

Instead of using a masher, try putting the mixture into a cuisinart mixer with the paddle and running it. It does a great job of pulling stewed pork or beef and would surely work well for this.
