Hey Alyssa! Oh Em Gee, I cannot believe you showed us your brush, I cannot even imagine, I’m sure it is just full of hair! LOL, I’m just kidding. The best part is, I cannot even see your video or brush, so I will just assume it is clean. Thanks for sharing your routine, it is fun to listen to even though basically none of this applies to me. LOL. Thanks for sharing! OK, back to the video :-) Matt

I want to try this out! I do curl my hair once in a while, and the way you twisted your hair and then flat ironed that inspired me to try something similar with my curling iron. I took a section of hair, twisted it then curled it like usual and I liked how that turned out too. I tried twisting the flat iron and I found it hard to keep hold of it while I twisted and ended up having to use two hands to twist it

Sure! Thank you for making your video, I’ve started using your method most days of the week! I find it much faster than curling somehow with a smoother effect!

Bernice Solorzano oh my goodness I would love to meet you as well! And as for conventions I haven’t made it out to go to any in my life! But I totally believe it is time to change that! Do you have any suggestions of conventions that I should go to? I think it would be a great way to meet people in my community, learn about new resources, and network with others! If you have any suggestions let me know I hope we can meet in the future❤️

Very good video. I am totally blind and a musician. Although this video is about hair I will mention something a lot of people are afraid to do, and that is cut their own hair. A lot of people think they need to go to a barber or stylist to cut their hair, but you know something Alyssa, I have been cutting my own hair for over 17 years. I have actually gone to the barber years and years ago, and even before that I had mom cut my hair. Well, I experimented with that when I was a little kid I still remember this, and I think that every little kid has tried to cut their own hair. Well, many many people that are sighted are so afraid to cut their own hair. Everyone believes that you have to see to do those kinds of things. Well, i have prooved people wrong. Every time they see me, they wonder who cut my hair and I tell them that I cut my own hair. You know it is so easy. I remember the feel of how my barbers years ago would cut my hair and even my mom when she cut my hair. Gosh it feels like just yesterday. So now, I use the clippers on my own head and it is so easy. I tell people this. “O.K. I use an electric razors, and streight razor, to shave right???? Well, think of the clipper as a razor, but you are covering more areas, and the blade is a bit different.” People are are so shocked and surprised that everything is so neat. So now,,,, years later I don’t have to spend money at the barber. I now to this day actually have several clippers and trimmers plus 2 high end electric razors that are wet/dry. But the clippers if you ask me how it is done, I would say. Listen to your clippers. They are going to cut your hair and you will hear an obvious sound that the clippers are cutting. Well, it is the same as the electric razor or streight razor. The only thing different is is the clippers are like using more a beard trimmer but on a giant scale. It is like a beard trimmer on steroids. That is how I can best explain the clippers. The clippers are so fun to use and it feels great to know that i can bee my own barber. And the other thing is is if some hair is uneven,,, you can feel it with your fingers. So all this stuff about you need to bee able to see to use the clippers is not true. I tell this to many people because they think i came from the barber. This is truly a great compliment. When I use the clippers I don’t make a mess all over because when it is time for clippers I will jump in the shower and use the clippers. Obviously their is no water running. But the thing here is that if the clippers are going to throw hair it will all land up in the shower and I can pick the pieces up after the haircut. Also in my line of clippers I do have cordless and corded ones. I like to use the cordless because I don’t have the cord their but for the corded one,,, I would do the exact same thing making sure their was no water coming out of the shower. That is so safe. But the thing is is that many people are so scared to cut their own hair. Before,,,, years and years ago, i thought even myself that only barbers and stylists cut hair and nobody ever did that on their own, but times have changed. Maybe back then that was the case, but not now. The other thing about taking the clippers to my own head is I that I don’t have to tell anyone how I want my hair. I can either shave it or grow it out and cut it to how I want it. Yes. I am totally blind and I do my own barbering. And it all started over 17 years ago with a Philip’s beard and mustache trimmer. Then it went to the razor because the beard trimmer broke. Well, then the razor got tired and then,,,,, yep!!! Then I decided to use my new beast of a razor. It will mow down anything but it still wasn’t the clipper. Well,,,,, I decided it was then time to get actual hair clippers and now,,,,,, i have over several of them. Yes. I did get a new trimmer along with that as well.

This video is very helpful, especially to me, we have the same hair. Mine is just now growing out after being short for many years. We use the same hair products and I have a very similar styling routine because my hair is very thick, and fine at the same time and curly in the back underneath and wavy everywhere else. I can’t see myself in the mirror but like you, I find that it is just as easy to style it using no mirror because vision isn’t really necessary, right? I have lots of people who assume that someone else styles my hair every day and usually they assume it is my husband since we are empty-nesters. Same with make up, people always looking at my husband and asking if he does my make up? Really? I just laugh and explain that eyesight is not required for everything, contrary to most everyone’s opinion. Anyway, this is a great demo and really helps me sense I plan on more links in my style, like yours. I also have central vision loss, cone rod dystrophy so checking my overall appearance is not possible. I do usually get a set of eyes to check my make up before going out the door. That just gives me a little more confidence. Thanks again for the great video. Beverly

Hi Beverly thank you so much for watching! I am so happy that you could relate to this video and find some reassurance in that we do not necessarily need our eyesight to accomplish her every day tasks. Isn’t it so amazing?! We are just super talented LOL. Keep on turning those heads and defining the odds you’re doing awesome! ❤️

I am the same. I am totally blind and I do barber my own hair. I have been my own barber for over 17 years now. I totally enjoy cutting my own hair with the clippers. I know that their is a lot of sighted people who are now just figuring out how to cut their own hair and they are kind of scared, but myself,,,, nope!! It is very easy to cut my own hair. Not only can you hear the clippers cutting but you can feel what they have done. Using specific clips on the clippers is easy as well. The clippers are not going to do something unless you specify. I always tell people that using the clippers is almost like using a shaver or beard trimmer. If you can use a beard trimmer and or a shaver, then the clippers are not that much different. The only thing different is is that they are wider in their blades and they are of course obviously made for your head. I actually just for fun one evening decided to shave with clippers and it is super powerful not ment for the face but I did it anyways. Wow was it like a cat scratch. Lol!!!! It is kind of scratchy trying to shave with clippers. Lol!!! Anyways yes. I do use clippers on my own head and it is not hard at all.. it is super fun to do actually. And really their is no way you can mess up because the specified guard that I have on them. Well, if I want to shave my head which i have done for years, I use the bare clipper with no guard or known as Naked clippers. Not a bad term because that all just means clippers with no guard... it is very simple though.
