  • I made my first crib board recently. A friend of mine said she had been looking for one for a while and couldn't find anything that she really loved, so I gave it a try.

    Awesome video. I’m starting my own cribbage board (aka cutting board) soon so this video was helpful. Question: why did you choose a pattern router bit to clean up the card slot?

    • @WoodenThingsAndStuff
      @WoodenThingsAndStuff  Год назад

      I'd have to watch it again, cuz it was a really long time ago, but my guess would be that, as with everything I make, I use the first method that comes to mind that I think will work and then hope it does.

    I find its better to use a brad point bit (9/64 is better if you use the 1/8 wooden pegs) saves the "awl" step and if you're careful it's even more accurate.

      @@mikedavies7190 oh...forgot...instead of taping the template use spray glue, the paper will come off easily when you're done, if not use a bit of varsol to release the glue. I only suggest this because I've made about a hundred cribbage boards.

      Wooden ThingsAndStuff I agree, I recently canceled as well and still haven’t received items as they filed for chapter 11. Will see what happens. I’m going to build two boards for my boys for Christmas so your video was a good start for ideas. Thanks again.

    does the double layers of the clear tap really help the chipping, and should I use brad point drill bit Thanks

    • @WoodenThingsAndStuff
      @WoodenThingsAndStuff  2 года назад +1

      Can't say for sure if it helps, but certainly never hurts. And I would always use a brad point bit for just about any drilling operation in wood.

    Do you remember what the thickness of each piece ended up being?

    • @WoodenThingsAndStuff
      @WoodenThingsAndStuff  4 года назад

      The board itself started at 4/4, so probably somewhere between 3/4 and 7/8 after milling, and the base was strips cut to about 1.75" wide, flipped on edge and glued, so after the blank was milled, I'd say it was about 1.5" thick. Maybe a bit less.
