Merry Christmas! Hope everyone has a great day.
Beautiful project and I'm sure a much appreciated gift to be passed down for generations. Glad you identified the issue with the first carve. And what a great opportunity to work on your repair skills.
Have a like for that tear out. My stomach churned when you held up the gauged out piece. I've been using a Onefinity for about a month and I've learned the pain but all mine have been test projects. Great to see you push passed that and make a great board! This is my next project so hopefully I can have some luck after watching your process.
Yeah, that was a heartbreaker. Other than that huge gouge, the piece looked perfect. It happens. Nothing to do but press on.
I'd like more detail on the design side.
Huge hit on Christmas morning! It’s a beautiful piece of workmanship. The video was so fun and eye opening. Lots of work. Sorry it was such a pain to finish the project. It’s truly beautiful.
It was a great project and I learned a lot. Glad you guys are enjoying it.
That is some beautiful wood. Really nice project
I ALWAYS do my profile cut first, suffered the same event……but only once!
Think I like that idea. Ruining a blank is a lot less painful than ruining a nearly finished project. Thanks for sharing.
Haven’t seen this one in a while.
Nice job. Looking forward to more vis like this
Great project! Heartbreaking on the first attempt. Things don't always go how we plan. Great recovery, though, and a beautiful piece!
Hey man.
Great work.
It looks amazing.
Keep up the hard work I look forward for more info.
Thanks, will do!
Beautiful board Matt !
Thank you very much.
Awesome Video! At one point you mentioned you needed to re-zero XYZ because of the bit diameter change. I don't think you need to do that because of the diameter change. I usually just do XYZ for my first bit and then only do Z after. The center of whatever diameter of bit should be the same.
Yes. Thanks for pointing that out. If X-Y home are the same, only need to probe Z after a bit change.
Nice work.
Great video. Did you ever make the detailed Vectric video? I'd be interested in watching that one....
Your the first to show interest so I never did. Unfortunately all the raw footage from this video is gone.
I'd like to see the design in Vcarve.
Unfortunately, the raw footage for this video is gone. I do have the design file. If you'd be interested in that, let me know.
Really a nice creation Matt, I'm sure he will love it.
If you don't mind me asking.. What made the bit skew across on the first board? I have the 1F also and have not had that issue (YET) however I was wondering if it was just a mistake or some other issue with the software?
It was my fault, not the machine. Im pretty sure some of the hold downs came loose and the material shifted. I should have been checking them periodically during the carve.
Nice job on the project, this was a great question to ask, perhaps an in depth vid on all the details. A Very interesting vid would be fixing the gouge with master craftsmanship, making another lid and salvaging the project. Sure many including you fans would own it with pride.
@@douglassmith2055 Well it's not on the burn pile yet. I do have an idea to fix it so I might take on that challenge. Thanks for watching.
I felt the wondering cut but not as much as you must have mate.
Any idea what caused the failure of first effort.
Boy that one hurt. I just didn't secure the material good enough and didn't pay enough attention to my hold downs. I should have had the material more centered on the spoil board with hold downs all around. I now use more hold downs if possible (or a combo of hold downs and tape like I did on the second carve) and I periodically check them during the carve.
