Another awesome video. You do such a great job of explaining what you are doing and mention all the options. I actually like the idea of them coming apart rather than swiveling so you only have the board while playing.
Absolutely beautiful work! I made my first board today with the same template you used. I absolutely love the card and peg holder. Can't wait to try it out! Thanks for the great video
The Rockler jig he mentioned does come with the self-centering drill bit. It also stops at the proper depth as well. It's what I use and the results are fantastic
I have a Rockler Drill Press Jig, or "Portable Drill Guide". I absolutely love it, and it's probably more practical in most situations for a DIYer than going up river on some sketchy craigslist ad and buying a 500lb drill press covered in dust in some old guys machine shop. Which oddly has like 50 chain saws hanging, with an eerie windchime going off in the distance as the fog starts to roll in with the fast approaching nightfall....
Love the projects you are making. Thanks for these videos. Could you please consider making a video on your router table and maybe sometime a drill press table?
Why do you only have 10k subs? You should be closer to 300k+ and likely will soon. The videos are great and very well narrated and put together. Was thinking a CNC could be a good way to go with the holes. But drill press just as cool!
😆 Appreciate it! Just started making more RUclipsy videos earlier this year, with the full narration and such. Guess it makes sense as I’m a verbose teacher. Yeah, CNC would be the cleanest approach. Just not available to most. Template route definitely works.
Hi -- Great tutorial - thanks. I can't find your information about where to buy. that metal template. Can you please advise the name etc. Thanks Dennis Beamish Cambridge Ontario Canada
Love your content I'm taking a shot at a cribbage board and I'm getting some splitting around the peg holes would using painters tape on top of the board cure that?
Awesome! Yeah, we’re just down a boat ride away from you in Lake Stevens, WA. You should check out my buddy Brad’s stuff over at instagram.com/rough_seas_woodworks?igshid=gmgmjj43ri3i He’s further up the island from you and does amazing stuff!
Thanks! That’s a bummer on the tear out. If it makes you feel better, I definitely get some. Best solution is to make sure the template securely attached, where it can’t keep lifting with sawdust getting underneath it. Higher speed on the drill press, if you’re not already at top speed??? Best of luck!
If you’re using a hard wax, you’d need to clean out the holes with a skewer or something small. After doing these, I’ve gone back to other oils or the spray lacquer to eliminate that step.
Love this video. I've been wanting to make a cribbage board for a while and this really helps. Just one question about how do you keep the holes clear of finish if you want to use the liquid poly?
I have the Supermax 19-38. About $1,500 great unit and worth the investment. I talk more about it in this video: ruclips.net/video/DXo3IsJEH3c/видео.html
great video! my wife & i own a locally carpentry company & have a client who is wanting a board. this is definitely going to help me a lot! gained a subscriber & we will be checking out your instagram page! what are the dimensions that you use for the pocket of cards to accommodate the entire box?
Awesome! For the card storage, I just trace the card box and add about a 1/16 “ around. If your pencil comes out a bit from the box while tracing, you don’t even need to measure. I’m ok with a little wiggle room.
Helpful video! Thank you!! Someone asked me to make a lake one, and I know nothing about cribbage. I have been learning about the game and watching some videos on making them. You explain well!

I love how you showed mistakes you made and how to avoid them. Most WW channels "never" make mistakes 👌🏻
Appreciate that. Yeah, we all make them. It’s just how we pivot and adjust the project.

awesome! Happy pegging!

Love the projects you are making. Thanks for these videos.
Could you please consider making a video on your router table and maybe sometime a drill press table?
Appreciate it. It’s definitely on my list. Hope to get it out sometime this next year.

Roto hinge works good for the swivel option
I’ll look into it! 👍
I can only find the small straight kit online. Where can I find the other ones?
great video just hit the subscribed button now i have somthing to do in the winter months in victoira bc canada when all we get is nothing but rain

Very nice! How much do you sell these for?
Do you have a link for the magnets?
Hello! What are the exact measurements of the template used in this video? Thanks!
Nice work.
Thanks so much!
What a great video! What router bit did you use for the step cuts? I heard you say cove and bead but I was wondering what size you used! Thanks!
What is the thickness of the two pieces? I assume the bottom is 1" since card boxes are 3/4".
Yes, about 1”-1 1/4” for the base
Where would you buy the pegs
How to finish a board before applying epoxy, any suggestions?
How thick is the top board, looks like an inch?
Great video. I just got the rockler template and am having horrible tear out between holes. Any suggestions?
Thanks! That’s a bummer on the tear out. If it makes you feel better, I definitely get some. Best solution is to make sure the template securely attached, where it can’t keep lifting with sawdust getting underneath it. Higher speed on the drill press, if you’re not already at top speed??? May have to try this in the spring as a new project. But 400 holes. I may need some jamming tunes for that task hours i asune
You do get in a groove after a while
Just use a magnet in the middle for the swivel
That way you can slide the whole thing off if you want or just swivel it
Et voila, best of both worlds
Do you need to use the drill after finishing to clean out the holes
If you’re using a hard wax, you’d need to clean out the holes with a skewer or something small. After doing these, I’ve gone back to other oils or the spray lacquer to eliminate that step.
Love the videos! Question for you. Where do you purchase your hardwoods?
Thanks! Crosscut Hardwoods in Seattle or Edensaw in Port Townsend, WA.
What does the 6:8 mean?
Love this video. I've been wanting to make a cribbage board for a while and this really helps. Just one question about how do you keep the holes clear of finish if you want to use the liquid poly?
Thanks. I definitely prefer the spray. But you can have a toothpick handy or a cotton swab if you go too heavy.
What brand drum sander did you get and how much was it?
I have the Supermax 19-38. About $1,500 great unit and worth the investment. I talk more about it in this video: ruclips.net/video/DXo3IsJEH3c/видео.html
Have you had a problem with the drill bit tearing out wood under the template?
100% Couldn’t ever figure out why. No matter how tight it was to the wood’s surface or speed of the bit. If you figure it out, let me know!
@@SixEightWoodworks did you find a way around it?
Ok where do you get your pegs at I've been making crib boards for years but can never find pegs
Here’s where I got the pegs: amzn.to/3qN1RfO
Do you use a lathe to turn the pegs?
I don’t. These are metal pegs i ordered online.
Where did you get the large diameter magnets??
They’re listed under the project parts at this link: www.amazon.com/shop/6_8woodworks?ref=inf_pub_6_8woodworks
Can you demo how to make one like your “family “ Board with removability cover? Please 😃
I’ll add it to the queue. Pretty similar process. Just tricky to get those thin magnets into the cover.
“You want to make sure you have nice, clean holes”
What kinds of wood do you use?
Primarily walnut, maple, cherry, ash, sapele, and Padauk. Quite a few other species mixed in with these boards and other projects.
Thanks
Are you going to add more inventory to your store?
Hoping to later this summer.

Would you sell a board by chance?
I bullding a cribbage board based on Asterix the Gaul
I really want to be the guy who does the first dislike in a couple videos, but I just can't, well done!
Appreciate it!
You talk to much

I’m hoping to make some more later this spring. Been a while since I’ve had any available on my website.
