    Diamond charged circular saws are even used by lapidaries to cut--diamonds! The blade in this use is a steel disc charged with diamond abrasive in oil or water. It is also used to cut facets on diamonds and other types of gemstones.

    This is awesome! I’ve always enjoyed using every circular saw that I come across in the field as a mason (I like making perfect cuts for pavers and stuff) and I love informative stuff like this.
    Note: I would much rather hear *your voice* narrating everything in a video as opposed to that AI voice or voice actor, whatever it was

    Vince-I am sold. I went to check price all over the place/internet and found that ACME tools had them for $159, "Never pay full price". I do like ACME tools but I am million miles from any of their store. I do not mind that so much but it is returns and prefer buying a local-stores if I can. Lowes did match the price and should have it by Wednesday. I am building a unique planter box on Thursday with me son. So, we are going to have a little fun with it. Again, that you on the information.

      Amazon had it ten dollar cheaper but I don't buy power tools on amazon!!

      I've dealt a lot with ACME tools and Ohio Power Tools. They are just terrific and have no complaints.

    • @RidgidRon
      @RidgidRon 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@JackKirbyFan I agree-ACME and Ohio power are great places to deal with. To me it comes down to price and my expectations of what I am ordering. I found that basic shipping cost of ACME is a little cheaper than Ohio power tools. A buck saved here and buck saved there. Never pay full price. Also, ACME offers a little of a Veteran discount and Ohio power does not try to.

      @@RidgidRon Oh for sure cost is always the bottom line. I'm looking at the Flex chop (miter saw) this year and it's going to be a pinch on the wallet but my old Dewalt is wearing down and becoming a bit unsafe to use and as someone who makes furniture -> can't risk it at my age :)

    I do have 120 volt 30 year old Skil circular saw but am unsure if it is the Skil saw model. I will check on that. Please can you tell me what is the difference between the Skil and the Skil saw models? I do understand the worm drive.

    • @VCGConstruction
      @VCGConstruction  6 месяцев назад

      The cordless Skil circular saw in the video is part of their heavy duty or pro segment of the Skil product line, all SkilSaws are a professional tool. The Skil circular saw in the video is a "Worm Drive Style" saw that doesn't actually use a Worm Drive.

  • @rexoliver7780

    Oh yes-many early circular mills were run by steam engines. The sawdust and scraps were burned as fuel to run the boiler that fed the saw engine with steam. The engine could also power band mills and planers.

    Another thought the circ saw is based on a simple machine----the WHEEL! Now when teeth are put on the rim of the wheel-becomes an efficient cutting device rather than propulsion. Some think of the circular saw as--chisels on a wheel-esp ripsaw blades,

    Worm drive saws used to be referred to as West Coast saws at one point….. good video Vince, some people call circular saws skill saws and don’t understand that skill is a brand-name….🇺🇸👊🏼👊🏼🔨🪚
