HAHAHA!!! A Skilsaw 5150 was the first big power tool I got when we bought our first house. That thing has made my life easier for twenty years, from decks to fences, to stairs. Mine was US-made which they aren't anymore, but they're still great tools.
Be sure to get a cordless one if you want a really intimidating blade for urban survival. A little heavy for EDC tho' - so I wouldn't bother looking for one with a pocket clip. I gotta say I use the flexvolt worm drive style and have used quite a few on the list. Dewalt got it done here, that saw is a beast and my personal favorite. I'm with nick on that!
Josh B yea it is a spendy saw but really the 18v will get the job done too. Pretty much all of these companies have good saws and just keep upgrading constantly to out do one another. Doesnt mean their older models are bad, just a bit slower or cut out a time or two. And I agree Austin Manion, I think dewalt really did equal corder power!
Mike N yeah the 18v is still one of the best out there, absolutely destroys makitas shit. But sometimes i want a little extra power, but i refuse to buy corded 😂
He had me at Ryobi (9:45) I actively avoided Ryobi for the exact reasons he mentions. It looks cheap, ugly, and amateur, but I had to borrow my brother-in-law's miter saw to install some flooring and was genuinely surprised by how much I liked it...so much that I had to go out and buy my own. It's now one of the most loved tools in my shop.
i own a whole set of Ryobi. It gets the job done even though they arent the best on the market. I would go with Milwaukee or Flex but i don't have the money to shell out for the best of the best
I bought a Cobalt sliding compound miter saw and it's amazing. It's going on 9 years and still good. Also the Cobalt air compressors are really good. The problem with cheap tools is not the tool. It's the battery. The battery is the most important part of a cordless tool. Corded tools you can get away with some cheap tools. My cordless Ryobi tools the batteries died in months. I'll never buy them again. Milwaukee batteries last decades.

I am not a contractor, just a woodworker, DIY kind of guy. For my needs, you can't beat the reliability and power of the corded Makita circular saws. They are built to last decades.
I am invested in the M18 Fuel line, and I love my circular saw. Built barns, houses, additions, and I've never had an issue with it. Lasts almost all day with a 12 AH battery. And believe it or not, I still use my dad's old corded Craftsman once in a while that he got back in... I think the 70's. No bells or whistles like newer saws, but it's all metal, no plastic and just... solid. It still runs like a champ.
The reason for two 18v batts for the Makita is that you can charge both batts at the same time in 45 mins or less, whereas those bigger "red" an "yellow" batts take almost two hrs to charge. Time is money!
Time is money. Buy 2 Dewalt 9amps and have one charged while one is working. By the time one dies you'll have another one in the tool. Makita requires you to have 4 whole batteries going
@@sessionbox4256 a single dewalt 20v doesn't have as much cutting power, or make as many cuts as a makita double battery. You may have half as many batteries, but you'll make twice as many trips to the battery charger, and it is a nuissance to have a battery die when you're up on a roof, or a ladder, or scaffold. When a person uses cordless circular saws every day, those walks to the charger add up quick, and the batteries can even pay for themselves. Plus, the makita cuts deeper, it's the only saw I know that cuts 2 5/8" depth, which is what's required to cut completely through LVL floor joists (not even corded skillsaw does that, nor dewalt).
I’m a fan of my Milwaukee and DeWalt tools. However, my father in law uses Ryobi and I used them for the first time this weekend and they are pretty good. Nice work Nick.
My favorite saw will ALWAYS be the Dewalt 378G. That saw looked funky as hell - look it up. But I never used a saw that lent itself to working on the ground, one hand use ripping plywood, or cutting tops off vertical beams in the air so effortlessly. It was the perfect combination of a Skilsaw and a sidewinder. They discontinued it, I patched the cord 5 times, replaced a plug, and cracked the handle and re-stuck it on with gorilla glue. Somehow between my dad and I, it's still alive 20something years later.
The serious dedication to tool education= rapid hand movement and minimal blinking =loved this video, he kept my attention, so this gal appreciates your hard work!!! off to home depot I go lol
You are awesome! I am a Ryobi fan and I know they do better in certain areas than others when it comes to their tools but when you started with the Mr. Sister hahah I rewatched that part like 10 times. Great job!
I appreciate the whole spectrum being exercised. Anybody can test drive a bunch of Ferraris and give an opinion. I wouldn't even have the patience to test the first two classes. You guys actually worked and dealt with honest unpleasantness. Thanks fellas.
Great choice for number 1. I use a skilsaw worm drive every day building fence. Had mine for years, it's taken a beating and it's still performing better than the brand new harbor freight junk that the new guys bring in. Definitely a must-have for anyone who's serious about their craft👍💯

I have a circa late 1970’s (original owner) Skilsaw 77 worm drive. HEAVY but still running strong 45 years later. Just built a 20’ x 40’ deck with it. Best investment ever. Did I mention it is heavy??? 💪💪👷🏻♂️🏋🏻

Amateur saw guy here. I got a cheaper Ryobi cir. Saw from Home Depot last yr, threw box away and just discovered defective adjustment lever. Is Ryobi any good at replacements ?
From an Aussie, down here we have the 3 big brands on site. Dewalt, Milwaukee and Makita. They are the 3 main ones down here. Makita is the cheaper of the bunch so a lot of apprentices start with it. Our cheap once use brand is ozito so if you look them up you can see our 'worse' and they aren't that bad, probly same level as ryobi one
This is the first time I’ve seen your channel brother, you are absolutely hilarious while being completely informative LMFAO! You literally have me cracking up every 20 seconds or so lol.
I would personally put makita above anything else. That’s not to say they’re actual individual tools are better than all. No company owns that. Skilsaw invented the circular saw, they make that the best. Milwaukee invented the sawzall, they make that the best. But everything makita makes it so perfectly well rounded, and they’re innovating more than any other company out there. They have more options and choices than anyone else and not to mention, they’re still they’re own individually owned company. No other brand can say that
thanks for the post- I had a very bad experience with a 20 Porter Cable PCC 661 circular saw. I hit an unseen fence staple and the saw seized up. There wasn't anything on the exterior showing why it died so I did an autopsy and found the motor was much stronger than the quality of gears. So instead of the saw just stopping when it glanced the cheap staple, the inside gear had pieces come off. That led to fragments of no less than 4 high spots on the gear coming off and leaving the scrap metal in the gearbox and a worthless gear. The tool had only been used a few times and was now useless.
Wow! Great job on this one. Great energy. I got into this channel because of Vince and his reviews. Entertained and educated by Nick... My gf even checked out the video.
I have to say I couldn't wait and skipped to the end to see which was deemed the best circular saw on the market in Expert Class and was so happy to see we agree because I just bought the new worm drive cordless 71/4" Skil. I have been out of the carpenter trade for well over a decade and am sorry to hear some say the brand declined a bit for awhile but I never saw any other circular saw used in the Carpenters Union and I was in for nearly ten years 👍
A main reason is Makita rules is because Skilsaw and others are not here , but have stated to see Milwalkee and Dwalts , a shame as I bought 20years ago a skilsaw worm drive still goes hard but can not get a new one or battery . its to do with sales and market supply
Informative video! I am on a budget and looking for my first saw. I am interested in the corded Ryobi circular saw. I noticed on the Home Depot website, that they have 13 Amp, 14 Amp, & 15 Amp versions. Other than their 1 Amp differences and pricing, should I just get the cheapest one (13 Amps)? What's the noticeable difference from 13 to 14 Amps, or 14 to15 Amps? thx
I have 2 Black and Decker circular saws that are older than me. Probably from the late 70’s and I used them both today and cut 45 degree miters through a dozen 2X4’s with a 24T Diablo blade. They cut through like butter and never bogged down once. Both are rated @ 9 amps. I was shocked at how nicely they both cut. I was actually waiting to be shocked since they both have metal housings and are HEAVY. I’m buying the Bosch Worm Drive for my custom panel saw jig. I was actually building it for the B&D but didn’t want to chance that either would shit the bed before I finish my next few projects. I’m actually shocked you put the Porter Cable in such a low category. If your tools can’t make long straight and accurate cuts you can’t build A DAMN thing people.
My first VCG video and hooked. Entertaining and informative. I've moved to Taiwan so need to purchase new hardware, over here is 120V and as I'm from the UK, it's 240 over there. Any reviews on jigsaws? Again, great video and well worth watching.
I prefer the Hikoki/ Metabo HPT tools. Active fan cooling of battery and charger, so you can charge quick, without too much stress or wear to the battery. Brushless IP56, for outdoor use. Other than that, I agree with most of your list. Thank you for entertaining and sharing.
garrad miller nah definitely lies in the lower pro level, the dewalt and milwaukee 18v saws are both much better. And then dewalt flexvolt is another level
Well, I use that 36volt Makita saw...It has a magnesium base, rafter hook, Yes its heavy, but I've also used the Milwaukee Saw too and it's no lighter. With all the same features. The single battery shown was the 12 amp hour battery that is just as heavy as 2 Makita batteries. I've also used the Dewalt saw with the Flexvolt battery. Great saw but not any better than the Makita or Milwaukee. Also you might talk about the prices of these options. That 12.0 High output battery Milwaukee makes is over 250 bucks. 2) pack Makita 6 amp batteries cost 180. So these 3 saws are equal in every way in my opinion. I am not a fan of Metabo at all. My business partner bought some new tools from Metabo, he sold them after a week. Went back to his Ridged. Hilti tools are great tools, but if you can afford them, you don't need to work for a living. I've never used the Skill Saw battery saw. I have an old worm drive Skill Saw that you have to put oil in and change it sometimes. It is a beast!!! I bring it out to rip hardwoods and yellow pine posts and beams. I totally agree with that old saw being the best ever made!
Two batteries is the price of the compromise so you don't have to change the whole platform from 18V. However it'd be nice if it worked still after one of the batteries drains. Good Ranking - Agree :)
It’s is Rindoculous!! Robert Bosch use to own it all night long! ! BUDDY YOU WERE AWESOME!!! And educative as well. It’s the first video I watch from VCG uninterrupted by text messages. I still prefer my Milwaukee Fuels m12 & m18 Keep it going. ENCORE, ENCORE!!
Can u do a vid on die grinders? I got rid of my Makita 18V die grinder since it vibrates so much... Did I just own a bad one? My dies were brand new and true...
"Don't be biased"?! We call came here to inform a bias. I want to know what's good and then be biased towards good. Having said that, I've tried Ryobi tools many, many times and they have always disappointed me.
I love the skilsaw .it's just gorgeous . I tried Makita and I when I knew about Milwaukee I sold my Makita and get Milwaukee I finally got it and big big disappointed . And guess what I sold my Milwaukee and i got my self the skilsaw it's just amazing
OTAAAY I watched the whole video and I am blown away - want to purchase a circular saw as a gift to my husband as we just purchased land - so many great choices I’m going check the #1 choice on your top list Skill Saw - he WILL be surprised and to think I was going to buy WORX you didn’t even mention it 😂 THANK YOU THIS WAS FUN TO WATCH
I've got a Milwaukee rear handle and a DeWalt 60v rear handle. The only thing I don't like about the Milwaukee is the tension is so great on the blade guard that it pulls a 1/16 to the right as you engage the cut. I've still got my old skilsaw corded, but the DeWalt is my saw of choice.
Is this Nick's audition video for a WWE announcer, Lol, the hand flailing is incredible, he looks like an orchestra conductor of the beautiful sounds of the circular saws, show them the tool passion Nick!! Lol👍👍
I purchased the black n decker black n gray model 3/8 drill and circular saw when i was just starting out in construction/carpentry when i was in my early 20s im now almost 50 and they both still work great
I got The Milwaukee 7 1/4 magnesium 15a corded out of some guys garage for sixty bucks with a makita corded drill. Boy does that sucker cut, ended up cutting through some hardwood maple, with a blade missing over half its teeth. Like butter, and didn’t realize until after the fact. When I was putting her back in her container, and went to take the blade off. Needless to say, I’m sold. Went out and bought some diablo blades for her after.
Master Framer, here....The tried and true Makita 5007NB, was the best circular saw made for rough framing use. Unfortunately it is no longer in production. I but every one I see at pawn shops. Currently have two in operating condition, and three in garage for parts. Although I have switched over to the NEW MAKITA cordless line as my EDC tools. There is still a 5007NB in the tool box on my truck.

I have to say I couldn't wait and skipped to the end to see which was deemed the best circular saw on the market in Expert Class and was so happy to see we agree because I just bought the new worm drive cordless 71/4" Skil. I have been out of the carpenter trade for well over a decade and am sorry to hear some say the brand declined a bit for awhile but I never saw any other circular saw used in the Carpenters Union and I was in for nearly ten years 👍
I love the excitement 😂. Can we get a video on different brands of saw blades? I’m a Diablo guy, but I guess not everyone feels the same.
I would like to know the differences and what they all bring to the table
I have owned a Craftsman 71/4” Circular saw for years and it does a great job.
Wen it breaks due to your Skil level don't get Black and Deck her. Maybe-tabo you have your warranty in Milwaukee
@@raul0ca I have had that Craftsman 7/4 circular saw for along time and it does a great job and I ordered the replacement cord and fixed it myself.
@@raul0ca I will not own a black and decker power tool.
@@johnkozlowski7642 I''ve done that too
I'm ready for y'all to test the KOBALT XTR
Just bought the 3 pack and excited to blow more money lol
@@mryork_ I just tried to get the 5 pack today but they're out of stock everywhere. Idk if I should wait or just get the 3 for now.
A main reason is Makita rules is because Skilsaw and others are not here , but have stated to see Milwalkee and Dwalts , a shame as I bought 20years ago a skilsaw worm drive still goes hard but can not get a new one or battery . its to do with sales and market supply
Awesome video love the huge energy 😁😂😂 can we get a video in the future with a list of 6 1/2"/165mm circular saws?
I got a Cordless Ryobi and it works and cuts great...The Mean Green Machine...🤙
I think Nick needs a Gatorade after this one to replenish his energy because he was so passionate in this video
😂😂👍
Informative video! I am on a budget and looking for my first saw. I am interested in the corded Ryobi circular saw. I noticed on the Home Depot website, that they have 13 Amp, 14 Amp, & 15 Amp versions. Other than their 1 Amp differences and pricing, should I just get the cheapest one (13 Amps)? What's the noticeable difference from 13 to 14 Amps, or 14 to15 Amps? thx
That new Kobalt XTR looks mean. You guys are so lucky getting a hold of them so soon.
Love your personality, watched to know which saw to buy hubby for birthday. Best saw for $200.00??
Best thing that you can get hubby for birthday is a new gf
I believe that he is the illegitimate son of Ultimate Warrior...
😂😂👍😂
😂😂😂
Bought the Kobalt corded saw because of this video! I used it to build a privacy fence! Great saw, great price, thanks!
Its makita 36v then 18v milwaukee then skillsaw thats my lineup im a 20 yr vet now days all the saws are pretty good
I prefer the Hikoki/ Metabo HPT tools. Active fan cooling of battery and charger, so you can charge quick, without too much stress or wear to the battery. Brushless IP56, for outdoor use. Other than that, I agree with most of your list. Thank you for entertaining and sharing.
That kobalt xtr saw looks slick as hell. Blue/black/yellow....Batman in a saw
All my tools are Ryobi and Milwaukee 12/18 and I appreciate that you're giving the line I began with the props and kudos it deserves. Thanks brother.
Thx for the list! Happy Saturday 😊☀️
Recently bought a Ryobi circular saw.... I now don't have any regrets, thanks to this video.
Vince is the man love the seriousness great vid nick.
Thank you lucas!
Why can't I stop watching even though I've already made my decision on which saw to go with?!
Makita XSH08Z should be expert. Can be used on a track
garrad miller nah definitely lies in the lower pro level, the dewalt and milwaukee 18v saws are both much better. And then dewalt flexvolt is another level
@@joshbenton810 another level in what way? Having the most power doesn't make something more suited for professionals necessarily.
@h2s i disagree. Its a circular saw that can do anything the others can with an added feature.
I still prefer my Milwaukee Fuels m12 & m18
Keep it going. ENCORE, ENCORE!!
Dog, how have I not known about you till now. RUclips needs recommend this to me more!
My name's Kevin Hernandez too 😂
@@KevinHernandez-zk4gb my name is...also...Kevin Hernandez...
Thank you for this. I'm in the market for a circular saw. My ragged out 12 amp B&D has a date with destiny--and the Grim Reaper
I love the skilsaw .it's just gorgeous . I tried Makita and I when I knew about Milwaukee I sold my Makita and get Milwaukee I finally got it and big big disappointed . And guess what I sold my Milwaukee and i got my self the skilsaw it's just amazing
Have a Skilsaw mag77 and by far it’s the best saw I’ve ever used. I absolutely love the thing
My favorite is the Milwaukee rear handle. Haven’t tried the Dewalt but I’m sure it’s just as powerful.
Love You Bro! Thank you for making this video. Very Informative Much Appreciated!❤️😀👍
yo i gotta give it to ya this video was epic and the zoom in on him when he is losing his mind was priceless
This is why i freaking love your channel guys!
Thank you Nick!
I grew up calling any circular saw a skilsaw... so technically my dewalts and milwaukees are skilsaws
Same here, we call em skill saw.
Yes sir! They were all skilsaws growing up!
Same.
Skil saw mag 77 he'll love you forever 😄👍

Aaah ok thanks 2021 gonna start with a smile 😃
This guy is hilarious, I love every bit of it. Never believed I could watch it till the end...but I did.
This is Cartman if he grew up to be a contractor
I've got a Milwaukee rear handle and a DeWalt 60v rear handle. The only thing I don't like about the Milwaukee is the tension is so great on the blade guard that it pulls a 1/16 to the right as you engage the cut. I've still got my old skilsaw corded, but the DeWalt is my saw of choice.
Is this Nick's audition video for a WWE announcer, Lol, the hand flailing is incredible, he looks like an orchestra conductor of the beautiful sounds of the circular saws, show them the tool passion Nick!! Lol👍👍
😂😂😂👍
I purchased the black n decker black n gray model 3/8 drill and circular saw when i was just starting out in construction/carpentry when i was in my early 20s im now almost 50 and they both still work great
The Diablo blades I’ve seen are made in Italy, the company's home country.
Went out and bought some diablo blades for her after.
very informative, and very entertaining this guy is cool, keep them videos coming...
I love the energy and the comedic commentary! I wasn't even looking at a saw until I watched this. Thanks for the video.
Vince walking in the background like a boss
🤣🤣👍🏻
Master Framer, here....The tried and true Makita 5007NB, was the best circular saw made for rough framing use.
Unfortunately it is no longer in production. I but every one I see at pawn shops. Currently have two in operating condition, and three in garage for parts. Although I have switched over to the NEW MAKITA cordless line as my EDC tools. There is still a 5007NB in the tool box on my truck.
