Thank you for the video. You saved me $400 the dealer wanted. I found that by cranking the steering all the way to one side I was able to do it without raising the car or removing the wheel.
My wife's 2016 renny needs the left front done , ill be doing it tomorrow , I think the trick with the new one not lining up is you need to jack it up a bit higher under the strut and it will help next time just so you don't have to force it in and potentially damage the new link ...great 👍 video thanks for your help
Also. I learned through fellow renegade owners on FB. The MOOG. Is 1/4” longer than the stock ones. That’s why it shows as incompatible on Amazon. Can’t beat $16 each on Amazon. Same ones are $50 each at the auto stores.
I'm going to be doing this in a few days -- im getting MOOG k750795 // I have read on numerous forums- tighten till snug while its up off the tires- then after you got tires back and its on the ground re-tighten -- then after a few days of driving it and letting things settle- tighten once again
I’ll add that you should just put the t30 or t40 on a drill or impact and switch it to tighten mode. Then hold a regular wrench on the nut. Use the close end of the wrench if you have one
Sir I have a 2016 model with 50 k on it and my links are fine... 2018 model and it has how many miles? and it needs links?? what was the cause for this repair? Thanks nice video Be well!
What about the rear links? Everything seems stable. Although I don't have a jack to relieve tension off of the suspension. I was told it was my left strut, causing a clunk over small bumps. Even though the sound is coming from the right. Is it a link or a strut problem?
I'll have to make a video on the rears asap. its hard to say over the internet, I would find a jack so you can check both of them out. I'd check both sides as well
The dealer just charged me over $450.00 to do this. They stated they had to remove the whole bumper in order to replace the right-side sway bar link only. Does the bumper have to be removed to replace the sway bar link?
thats ridiculous, no it does not. I have many other videos for the renegade so if you need help with something else just check out the videos and save yourself money
I've had my 2017 Renegade for 2 years. The seat bar links were faulty when I purchased and I got them done under warranty. Now 2 years later they're being replaced again. Is that normal?
2 years seems to soon to me but depending on the road conditions you have to drive on that will make a big difference on how long they last. I would recommend finding a better quality part then the oem ones
it may be your sway bar link, tough to tell not seeing it in person anyway you could have someone turn your wheel while you take a look snd see if thats what's making the noise
@@603Mechanicvids I can shake my sway links by hand and they are pretty loose similar to the ones you showed were bad when you fiddled with the threaded end on yours
It very well could be but it could also be another part of your suspension. anyway you could have someone turn the wheel while you look underneath to find where its coming from
@@603Mechanicvids appreciate your quick response. I’m doing these on a 2018 awd renegade. It was a hassle getting the parts. Everywhere I look they only gave me options for the rear links

I did one yesterday that was rounded off and ended up having to chop it off. Absolutely shit show of a job half a day on one side. Ripped rubber off first then pulled the plastic bar off then had to cut it off right at the anti roll far at the bottom. Why don’t ppl show them vids.

I'm glad it helped you out, thats crazy expensive im glad you saved your money. also great idea doing it that way 👍
A Jeep dealer wanted $500 for both sides to be replaced. How absurd. Thanks for this video.
Just changed mine after watching this video. You made it so clear that I had no issue getting it done. Much appreciated!
Excellent info. Thank you! Very helpful for understanding my 2018 Renegade. Much appreciated

Did they work? The ones I found on Moog’s website listed some that work. I think they were listed on Amazon as the Jeep Compass links

I did replaced mine today. Its definitely a pain in the a** using a regular wrench. Theres very little wiggle room in the bottom screw

Thanks nice video Be well!
They just wear out and they’re cheap plastic. Imo the plastic allows more movement and that wears the joints faster. Just a theory
What was the sign that these needed to be changed? My 2017 renny is making a knocking noise whenever I hit even the smallest bump in the road.
thats exactly what mine was doing. it ended up breaking completely
they're easy to change
My front passenger side rattles on bumps, too. I'll be relieved if it is something this simple.
There’s too many parts in the steering and suspension to tell you what it is off a noise.

Does anyone know what REAR suspension scheme the jeep renegade limited fwd 1.6 mjet has? mcpherson or torsional axis?
All renegades are mcpherson strut all 4 corners

How much do swaybar links for jeep renegade cost
depends where you get them but I believe I paid $50
How do you have so much room to turn that ratchet on the back one?

Has anybody been able to put together quick disconnect endlinks like this ? For the renegade, Cherokee Trailhawk or compass ?
Can some one tell Me if this rear link will work on the 2020 Jeep Compass and what’s the part number
Did you ever try this on your compass? I’m thinking about doing it next weekend
Big O tires told me i needed Struts, got them changed, still make same sound…mechanic told me it was probably just Sway bar 😩😩
Yeah it was most likely the sway bar links
Mine made a clunking sound by i changed them

yup I did the struts on my 2015 Renegade Trailhawk and it sounds the same or worse. Links are on order.
Bought new Swaybar links straight from MOPAR .. No new nuts, and they look dirrenty then what you have for a Compass....
they should have sent new nuts with it i believe the compass has almost the exact same setup as the renegade
