We bought a cheap $15 brand new coffee maker from our local Bi-Mart store. We used it everyday for 3 years before it crapped out. My $80 coffee maker lasted 3 months..
Never buy expensive drip coffee makers! They're all the exact same brewing technology inside. The only thing expensive makers have over a cheap $10 one is what is essentially an alarm clock. Never go over $30! It's a scam!
Not trying to 1 up you... I'm an espresso drinker. I bought a beautiful espresso machine on a Black Friday sale and paid 325.00. My expectations were high because that was a big $$ splurge for me. It did make delicious espresso & lattes. I am not exaggerating when I tell you the machine died on day 93 precisely 3 days after the warranty ran out. So I bought a "cheap" one for $120 almost 3 years later and it's still working perfectly.
As much as people love to boast about how long their cheap gadgets last, I don't believe price is the root of the problem. Either you got a defective unit, or the brand/model you chose was not good.
@@Anthony-yv5jc Maybe that's the case, but when you're dropping big money on an item, you expect it to last. It's maybe not the most sound logic, but it's still a logic.
Thank You AGAIN for the review on the transparent sticky notes. I have bought three separate packs last year and use them so often. I am currently in nursing school and they come in so handy for notes in my books. The different colors help me to organize what type of information each color means. I have had ZERO issues with pen marks wiping off or fading. No issues either with the adhesives losing their grip. Thank you so much for introducing me to the transparent sticky notes. I never knew I needed something so much until I watched your video. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
If you guys want to see something crazy, try that new Opera AI and ask it if the Roth Childs control all the banks in the world. And oddly enough every time you ask that one question an error pop up and the app shuts down.. that’s obviously the answer right there.
Few years ago I was subscibed to several review channels and now I am subscribed to only this channel cause orher channels didn't seem to be as thorough or honest as you James, have lot respect for you .
Great vid! But I swear, every time I plat catch up and tune into one of your videos, I'm always startled by the fact that you don't have 1-5 million subs. Your videos have such great production value, it just surprises me. RUclips needs to algorithm you to the top.
No joke, i have a black (special edition?) version of the Cuisinart coffee maker that is going on 18 years old now. The carafe has "made in Germany " etched behind the handle . The design has persisted 2 decades, abd with a little maintenance, has had no issues. Sometimes devices that cost a little more are actually worth it
Unrelated, but I just wanted to say thanks for answering my question in your latest Q&A. Also thanks for going through and digitizing tapes when you have time. I always hate seeing media become lost no matter what kind it is. I am looking for episodes of Cops, America's Most Wanted, and other similar shows if you happened to have taped and come across them. Thanks again.
These are my favorite videos. Thanks for the updates. Not only do I get good advice about what to buy ( or not) but it gives a great overview of how things last.
This fella seems trustworthy as in companies can't purchase good reviews from him, so I do trust what he says and have purchased a few of his reviewed items and been happy.
Seeing the broken toaster I thought if you could also include breakdowns and malfunctions of equipment that you continued to use in your videos (maybe as part of these updates). I mean an update after one year is great to see the long term utility of the products, but I'd also like to get some info at the longevity of the products. Because I would be mad if my 300$ kitchen equipment would only last one or two years of regular use.
These videos are probably the best for the year long review. BUT! What would be some awesome videos you can make are ones about products that have made it to the 3yr mark and 5yr mark. Those would be the ones that show the money invested was well spent!
Something like ten years ago, I gave my parents one of those grocery bag dispensers and they still use it to this day. Happily received one for Christmas two years ago and I too find it very handy!
Coffee drinkers currently are of the opinion, that a proper drip coffee maker should have a thermos-like coffee vessel which will keep its temperature naturally, rather than a heated pan to constantly reheat the drink. They say, constant reheating "burns" the coffee because of temp. fluctuations which do not happen in a thermos.
The transparent sticky notes is actually one of the really useful looking products. I personally would never get them, but I can see a lot of people using them, especially students. So many other just try and replace things in my kitchen that already work.
Thank you for the updates. I kinda surprised to see your expensive fancy toaster is no longer working. 😮 Judging by the price many would expect it's gonna last at least more than a year and half.
I have the arc lighter and while it works great on candles, it worked even better lighting fireworks. We had a breezy 4th of July and I had no problems lighting the fuses.
The Arctic lighter is pretty cool. A few years ago I bought a couple electric lighters. I stumbled on that at Walmart by accident and reminded me about the original video you made. Got it for a present for last Christmas for somebody
I love the update episodes. That really stinks about the fancy toaster. If you're gonna pay that kind of money for something like that it should last many years, not just one. Smh
I bought one of those rechargeable candle lighters after watching your original review! I actually used it while listening to the start of this video on my phone, so I'm amused that it ended up being in here. I've used it quite literally every single day since buying it and I love it.
If you want to scramble eggs in the shell you can cut the sleeve off an old long-sleeve shirt. Tie or sew one end shut, then put the egg inside and, while holding one end with each hand, spin it in front of you. The motion you make is similar to a hammock, if a hammock went so fast it spun upside down.
I've used Bunn coffee makers for 25 years and occasionally tried Mr c or other brands and none of the others got past six months but my Bunn pots have averaged 8 years or more perfect morning cups of coffee so you can see why I trust Bunn!!!

The update videos let us know if it's an actually good product or just a novelty that seems good. We all have products we use that we initially love, but end up rarely using. Sometimes that's because they don't have a use all the time, and sometimes it's because the novelty wears off.
11:20 loving your T-shirt in the coffee pot review! I'm in Michigan and I come from a split household. Back to the video....... My favorite item he was the "Waffle Spy Camera" 😂 Thanks for the updates!!
Ron Popeil (Ronco) made an egg scrambler (battery powered) around 1965 to 1967. It worked amazingly well. It was a bent needle that rotated at a pretty good speed inside the egg. It didn't have a guard, but made the likes of me, not have to look at the white connective tissue attaching the yolk to the white (clear).
I have a couple Fanttik (or however it's spelled) things and I REALLY like them. Got a tire inflator and a jump starter on sale and they worked so well that I bought another set for other cars of mine.
I make “baked” potatoes in the microwave and I don’t need any special container to do it in… Just sayin’ With an 800 W microwave it usually takes between seven and nine minutes depending on the size of the potato. Remember to puncture the potato skin before microwaving.
@@AverageReviewsYTI forgot one time, only 3 minutes and it hadn't exploded yet. I just took it out and made holes. It probably won't explode till you get to 6 or 7 minutes. I also wrap mine in a damp paper towel so maybe that helps it not explode either 🤷♀️

I have the same bag dispenser for years now. Unfortunately my adhesive failed long ago and I had to screw it in. Luckily it's mounted inside the cabinet so the adhesive damage doesn't show. Aside from the adhesive failing and making marks, I use it almost everyday for doggie bags. I just recommend adhesive to the inside of a cabinet or use the mounting hardware.
I just found (recently) a potato express. LOL! Never liked it at all. Paper towels are the best way to do them. Doesn't cost all that much either. Thanks for the update, James. 🕺Keep on dancing.
I see he talked about the insides of the potato but I’m wondering if the outside was a softie shell or a bit of a crunch - not burnt? Anyone have one of those and if so, would you mind reporting on that for me?
I love waffles 🧇 with butter and honey and peanut butter for breakfast. But I just use frozen waffles and my cheap $12 Walmart toaster. It has 1 feature: Popup when done according to the level dial from 1 to 7. Levels 3 to 5 are good for waffles, but level 7 works ok if you like your waffles very brown and dry. Level 7 does set off the smoke alarm with raisin bread :-)
I used my Cuisinart coffee maker for over 14 years. A couple of months ago the switch started getting wonky. I’d have to flip it four or five times before it would stay on. So I bought a Ninja coffee maker and I love it. Hope it last for 14 years like the Cuisinart did.
