I test rode this bike for about 45 minutes two or three weeks ago. 80hp is great amount of power for two wheels, but I wasn't expecting much. The moment I swung my legs across this bike, I fell in love. I fell in love harder when the I twisted the throttle and heard the roar of this motorcycle. Wow! Refinement was also lovely. Just before riding the Trident though, I had ridden the Z900 and even though the Z is more desirable, the Trident js more practical choice. I currently ride a Honda CB350 Highness which has one cylinder and generates 21hp, so it was quite thrilling to get a feel of a big bike❤
Good point about beginners being able to use the "rain mode" setting on the Trident. It reduces the power level and will allow someone to become familiar with riding and get the feel of this particular motorcycle. Beginners have enough to think about without needing to worry that they might accidentally accelerate too hard.
I like that feature. It enables for new riders to grow with the bike, rather than selling your 300cc. I for example don't want to keep on selling bike, since I'll probably financing the bike for 48 months.
Thank you, Doodle, for a very relaxing style of reviewing bikes. You've help me get to the emotional aspect of the bikes you review which is more important then the specs. At first I didn't like the look of this Triumph then it started to grow on me. Now it's on my short list. And it is a very short list (mostly Triumphs).
I'm loving your reviews! Everybody can read specs about torque, seat height etc. but can't feel the bike reading those numbers, which you convey so lovely.
I had been toying with the idea of getting this bike as my first bike... and I pulled the trigger because of your review. No regrets so far! Thank you! :)
I like the fact that manufactures are actually making bikes that fit the real world once again. Smaller displacement, twin cylinders, and reasonably priced. I'm also a fan on the Standard style / Neo-Retro, Naked style bikes too.
The amount of information that you are providing is truly an inspiration and I hope that young riders can and will listen to learn from experience instead of getting something they end up under the two wheels. Thank you
Just brought my Trident home here in Atlanta! It's my first bike and I'm your height with a shorter inseam. This video really helped me with my decision. Love it so much! Thanks!
I own a harley and always wanted a lighter bike with a short wheelbase. I don't know about other bikes in this class but dam. when i squeeze the tank with my knees, i swear i could chase a mouse around a parking lot. ...which is amazing to me
For me the Mt07 and the trident are the best beginner bike. It’s easy and nimble for new bikers. You will feel so comfortable and it’s not intimidating. Driven the 07 for about 18 thousand Kms and wanted to switch to the trident but changed my mind to something bigger. You cannot go wrong with either one of these bikes. The beat of the 07 or the triple of the trident is fantastic. Ride safe bikers and watch out for us car people. Thanks.
Doodle my daughter is going to take riding course she been on dirt bikes but street is totally different she is your size exactly I'm getting her to watch your videos now keep up the work I believe it important for new riders to have your knowledge for a shorter rider
I love watching your reviews! But I love love motorcycles and people that like to ride as much as I do! Right now is the season for the baby deer to be everywhere. That means the mommas will be slow crossing the roads because their babies are slow. Be careful it’s a dangerous time for us right now! Hi Doodle! Everyone be safe!
I enjoy your videos. When i decided to get a motorcycle, I looked for other women on youtube who ride motorcycles to get advice. I was a little shocked by how few there were, and by the differences from the other videos. I'm not dismissing videos by men, just that I appreciate the difference. Thank you for your content, I learned alot from you.
Hi Doodle, so I looked it up and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Standard J1349 Table 1 refers to torque as "lb-ft" or pounds feet. Thanks again for another entertaining and informative vid...!!
Your videos are so fun! I like your sense of humor and your video editing style, i.e. leave everything in and correct it on-screen, or have all-knowing Future Doodle do it 😎😎😎 It’s really great and I look forward to your videos every week.
After deciding between the MT-07 and this for my first bike, I came home saturday with a baja orange trident. So far am loving the bike, and Triumph of Roswell was very painless to work with in purchasing. Cant wait to get my 600 mile break in done!
I know I’m a bit late to the party, but a friend of mine just offered me his 2021 Trident 660 with 2000 miles on it because he feels like getting a Ducati scrambler so I’m gonna take it off his hands. I really enjoyed watching this video. It makes me feel better about buying the bike. Just not sure what it’s gonna cost me but I know he’ll give me a good deal. Anyway, doodle keep up the good work.
🤣 brilliant Doodle 👏👏👏👏👏 entertaining and factual. Your summary is spot on🤗 future Doodle is an excellent arrangement too. Hope you are enjoying your new job 😎👊
Agree, the power delivery of Triumph is the pinnacle. Bought a 799 twin, will leave the brand unmentioned, and the rev range of the twin was so hard to get used to. With a triple I can accelerate through most corners but with the twin I hit the top of the rev range and was stuck there. Currently have a 1050 Speed RS and never plan to sell it. Enjoyed the review.
Doodle, Nice review of the Triumph Trident. I’m really loving all these various Motorcycle Reviews. Yes it’s pound feet of torque. See you on Tuesday’s Video. Have a great weekend.
Awesome. I just ordered one, arriving hopefully in July. My last bike was a Ducati Monster 696, which was great height- and weight-wise. This is over an inch taller, which is worrisome, but I feel a bit better now.
just bought this bike as my first big bike mostly because of your review. I'm a shortish guy so a lot of the bikes I tried didn't make me feel very confident so I got a Honda grom for my first bike. this bike is perfect to move up to for me especially because of the safety features and the rain mode so thanks for your review also shout out from another Georgia resident. I live in Columbus and bought mine from freewheeling powersports in Douglasville. side note I hate Atlanta traffic and cannot imagine how you comfortably ride in it.
I had the same windscreen on my Street Triple that you do and removed it after a year. I think it’s better without. At highway speed I use my head to “split” the wind thereby lessening the buffeting. The windscreen just throws it right at my chest making it worse overall. I’m with you on the Triumphs - love ‘em, but my ‘12 Triple 675 is tough to beat. Someday I’ll get a new Triumph, but mine is perfect for me. And paid for!
Nice! Looking forward to your overall comparison. I have an FZ07 and test drove a Trident to compare them myself.. my feeling was that the Trident was actually TOO smooth, it took away from the raw connection to the bike and road that you get from the Yamaha. So smooth that it felt almost like an automatic transmission that you pretended to shift yourself. Guess it comes down to preference, but both are great bikes
I love naked bikes too i had a Cb5000F Honda but the engine is 471cc not 500cc it was my starter bike loved it .Now i moved up to a 2018 Vstrom 1000 DL . Your lucky to drive these diff bikes around good on you .
For anyone going WOW…for the price. Keep in mind that Triumph is one of the last to still charge for freight/setup. Tacks on another +$1000-1300. All of a sudden it’s a $10,000 bike not including tax and licensing.
i have the bike, i was looking at the 765 and due to pricing and apr, went with the trident instead.i am so happy i did, the bike is loads of fun and the fuel mileage is absurdly good. It is small so fits in my shed with no issue, and I have had it past a 45 degree lean angle without pegs hitting on street, so it definitely can tip over with the big boys. Because it only makes 80hp you can pin the throttle coming out of a turn without worrying too much about the back coming out, in other words you can really ride the bike aggressively even on the street. I felt i can get about 90% of the bikes full potential out of it on the street vs 70% from a dedicated sport bike. Being able to get 90% out just feels better when you turn off the ignition if we are being honest, and knowing your bike was 5,000usd less than a street triple is also nice! However the down side is it tops out at 133mph, and from say 100-133mph is way slower than a dedicated sport bike. The trident loves 0-90mph, anything above that it will do just not what it is good at. Another thing I am not a huge fan of is the sound, it is not bad but for me it sounds worst upgrading exhaust, it sounds like a civic not a bike. Stock exhaust are fine but again nothing grand about the exhaust note, nothing bad, just nothing special. It looks great from all sides until someone is riding it, in my opinion the back looks too much like a scooter if someone is on the bike.
I enjoyed this review... the balanced humor and quirkiness made it interesting to watch. Plus... I'm also a Triumph fan, and I totally agree with your personal views about their bikes. Triumphs are just so easy to ride... even their Tigers. I just wonder though, which between the Trident and the Street Twin could be considered more as a beginner bike.
Thanks for the review. I love triumphs as well. I have the sprint st 955i. It is taller than my other bikes. Might have to give the trident serious consideration, especially with ride modes. I also like the fact that it's a triple.
So......understanding the importance of passing power on the freeway was an aha moment for and it sounds like your there as well when I here you talk about throttle response on the freeway ! My first bike had plenty of power in the curves but not on the freeway....
Hi Doodle, I love your content. I'm a little less than 5'2 and I struggle to know whether I would be OK on a bike. I've been looking at the trident as a target bike since it came out. This has just reopened the possibility for me as my main bike once I've passed my test.
question about ergonomics...I'm thinking of getting the 660 to replace my R7 which is just not comfortable on my back after 20 min. Wondering how much better the 660 would be. I'm also have a Bonneville T100 which I love the ergonomics of. Just want a second bike that is more sporty but also comfortable. Figured since you've had/reviewed both you might be best person to ask.
I’ve got 2 Triumphs DOAM….among some other toys in the shed.🤭 My good mate here in Australia, some years ago had a Street Triple 675. At the time he’d been off bikes for “several” years & in all honesty should never have been on one!😖 Anyway he complained many times about noise from his Shoei helmet. Not cheap hey? I mentioned it’s more likely the after market Arrow exhaust system being too loud. Anyway I offered to take said bike wearing said helmet for a quick blast. Super impressed with that triple, I came back grinning from ear to ear. At the time my main bike was a BMW S1000RR.😈💪🏼 I said “Mate it’s not your helmet, not your exhaust… Um what gear are you riding around town in?” He says “Oh 3rd? Why?…” I just burst out laughing & said “No wonder, you’re wringing it neck!”😡🤪😂🤣 After that he said the helmet was fine.🤭🤪 Great little bike & great, fun review! 😎👍🏼🇦🇺
Another great review! I request that you add one more factor to your reviews and that is clutch pull. Based on feel, how hard is it to pull in the clutch and feather it. I’m asking because I had an accident years ago that reduced my left hand/arm strength. I exercise those muscles but will never regain left hand strength. This does affect most people but some might find it important. Thank you.
I have had this for over 3 months and the slipper clutch is excellent. One of the lightest and smoothest of the various bikes I have had. Also have a quick-shifter for clutchless changes up and down above 2nd. Try a test ride if one is available. 🙂
Another great review. Keep up the good work. I'm not sure if you're familiar with it, but Zack with RevZilla ranks the bikes he rides on a board at the end of "My Daily Commute". Maybe you could do something similar. Finally, it can said either way: foot-pounds or pound-feet. If you need a tie breaker, go with the one the manufacturer uses. Have a good day.
I wonder if there is a way to capture each motorcycle's exhaust sound, while still hearing you narrate the videos. As you probably know, each bike has a distinct sound, and it's always nice to hear, as well as see, the subjects of your road tests. Imagine watching the Blue Angels jets flying by at 600 mph ... and hearing nothing... As it is, it's like watching an electric bike being evaluated.. :^)
I bought the Trident 660. I'm in love! But I spent almost a year trying to get a 675 Street Triple, before the Trident 660 was released. The biggest question I haven't been able to answer is: Did I make the right choice choosing the Trident over the Street Triple? The dealer won't let me test ride Street Triples. I would love to see this revisited but a more direct comparison to the Street Triple! (I'll even loan you my Trident for the vid 😆)
It really is subjective - if you want a little more power than the Trident the 675 has it, but it is also heavier and more top heavy. I haven’t used all the power my 675 has in 3 years of owning it 🤪
@@DoodleOnAMotorcycle Wonderful! That helps a ton! I actually traded my VFR in for the Trident because the VFR had too much horsepower, and it makes less than the 675. 😃
I don't think they're that comparable. 675 is much faster, revs much higher and is more performance focused. It will annihilate a trident. The trident is a fun, easy going respectable machine that is probably better for bopping around town.
400 CC or under or 650ish Twins and triple are speced for the Europe/U.K./Aus market. That is why the power and torque figures are so close. Euro Spec bikes sold in America. IIRC the only outlier is Honda 650s which run 4 cylinders.
Wow. 31.7" seat height is quite high for short people. Your 31inch inseam is quit long for someone under 5'5". I've shrunk to 5'4" since entering into my 60s, and with an inseam of 29" I need really low rider bikes or platform boots...🤭👍🏼
I've noticed you often refer to a bike's peak power compared to another bike and reflect that one feels more powerful than the other, even though the numbers suggest otherwise. Perhaps including some power curves from dyno charts would be useful? That would show what power is actually being made at the rpm you typically ride, rather than the peak power.
@@DoodleOnAMotorcycle well, I used to own a 1970 TR6 (650 cc, air-cooled, 4-speed with shifter on the right side, single carburetor) but I suspect that it wouldn't count, eh? It was smoother than a rose bush stem! You do remember that Triumph patch I sent you some years ago????
I test rode this bike for about 45 minutes two or three weeks ago. 80hp is great amount of power for two wheels, but I wasn't expecting much. The moment I swung my legs across this bike, I fell in love. I fell in love harder when the I twisted the throttle and heard the roar of this motorcycle. Wow! Refinement was also lovely. The sultry sound of a triple paired with the fabled triumph smoothness is an unbeatable combo. Well done doodle.
I'm loving your reviews! Everybody can read specs about torque, seat height etc. but can't feel the bike reading those numbers, which you convey so lovely.
Truth!
Hey Doodle,
That was the best descriptive review, I've seen so far on the Triumph Trident. You nailed it on information. Onya 🤙, Annie from Oz 🇦🇺
I had been toying with the idea of getting this bike as my first bike... and I pulled the trigger because of your review. No regrets so far! Thank you! :)
Woohoo!
I like the fact that manufactures are actually making bikes that fit the real world once again. Smaller displacement, twin cylinders, and reasonably priced. I'm also a fan on the Standard style / Neo-Retro, Naked style bikes too.
Nice review, really like your format with Future Doodle correcting you lol. Have fun and be safe.
You put a smile on my face in that quick clip stroking the blue bike. I like your vids as you give an honest not OVER experienced view of the bikes .
The amount of information that you are providing is truly an inspiration and I hope that young riders can and will listen to learn from experience instead of getting something they end up under the two wheels. Thank you

I bought this bike 2+ weeks ago and I LOVE IT! I know I already commented this to you but UPDATE: STILL GREAT
Eeeeeee YAY!! 😁😁😁

What ever bike fits you and feels right is the bike for you . Whatever size or make it doesn't matter.
Awesome!! I was just going to comment on your MT 07 video that I hope you do one on the Trident soon.
Hi Doodle, a good review with lots to take on board, with great input from Future Doodle.
Hi Doodle, so I looked it up and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Standard J1349 Table 1 refers to torque as "lb-ft" or pounds feet. Thanks again for another entertaining and informative vid...!!

You make a great reviewer due to the way you expanded your knowledge via experience. Always good to watch and hear your take.
Nice review. Just ordered one in Paris. I wish I had your roads and your weather! Ride safe!
Doodle the Hooligan! That’s a T-shirt right there 😆😆😆
Haha, that would be a cool shirt.
The trident is my first bike and I put a Zard exhaust on it; I’m enjoying the heck out of it and it sounds awesome with Zard on it.
After deciding between the MT-07 and this for my first bike, I came home saturday with a baja orange trident. So far am loving the bike, and Triumph of Roswell was very painless to work with in purchasing. Cant wait to get my 600 mile break in done!

That is one of the best looking bikes I have seen in awhile, good review Doodle! Captain my Captain!
Isn’t it pretty!!!
Great review. I want one!! It’s good to be Doodle these days. 😀
Had the bike for 3 months now and 1100 miles. It just gets better!
So Doodle the Grandma rider has a Hooligan side after all... 🥳
🤪 don’t we all
🤣 brilliant Doodle 👏👏👏👏👏 entertaining and factual.
I hate it too and avoid it like the plague 🤪
Great review! I’d like to see a few morning fairing bikes. Maybe the Aprilia RS660?
I had the same windscreen on my Street Triple that you do and removed it after a year. I think it’s better without. At highway speed I use my head to “split” the wind thereby lessening the buffeting. I've entertained the trident or the MT07 as a more commuter friendly ride over my GSXR.
Good to see another rider's thoughts on them both.
Keep it up
Ok Doodle I think it might be time...to have 2 bikes!! Lol
More Trident! More TRIDENT! MORE TRIDENT!! Great video, thanks for sharing. :)
I love naked bikes too i had a Cb5000F Honda but the engine is 471cc not 500cc it was my starter bike loved it .Now i moved up to a 2018 Vstrom 1000 DL . Your lucky to drive these diff bikes around good on you .

Triumph definitely has some good bikes in their lineup, I think they get overlooked sometimes.

Hi Doodle; been waiting for this one 🏍🏍🏍. Awesome!
Thanks for the review. I love triumphs as well. I have the sprint st 955i. It is taller than my other bikes. Might have to give the trident serious consideration, especially with ride modes. I also like the fact that it's a triple.
This is so great after seeing this video i am confident about to buy this bike. many thanks
Love every clip you review for 'Triumph Bike
Triumph makes beautiful machines no doubt.
You're a legend ;) Great job!
Technically it's Pound-foot(lb-ft) which measure Torque, while Foot-pound(ft-lb) Measures Energy
🧠😳
So......understanding the importance of passing power on the freeway was an aha moment for and it sounds like your there as well when I here you talk about throttle response on the freeway ! My first bike had plenty of power in the curves but not on the freeway....
Hi! Did you come up with the comparisons among the 600s cc that you have reviewed? Thank you!
Just test drove a trident around Daytona. It’s a super fun, smooth bike that looks damn good 👍🏻
Hi Doodle, I love your content. I'm a little less than 5'2 and I struggle to know whether I would be OK on a bike. I've been looking at the trident as a target bike since it came out. This has just reopened the possibility for me as my main bike once I've passed my test.

Nice video as always. And, your cheeks look cute when you have your helmet on 😂 I almost bought one but got the Street Twin instead.
Love it! Triumph really nailed it with this bike 👍
Such a beautiful bike. Great review!
I ride an America but the Trident gets my interest as far as sporty bikes. Nice review thanks!
Your Doodle nickname so funny .. iam always saying doodle or doodleing now that i found your channel i have a face to add lol
If you ever come north (Pittsburgh PA), like to visit hertwowheels(Ohio) you can borrow my modified '19 Speed Twin.
Hey Future Doodle, how do you like the new HD Sportster S?
If you were a hooligan you'd be renamed "hoodle on a rocket" 😂
I'd go for rocket doodle:-)
HooniDoodle!
It could be another lil character on top of the future doodle for whenever she does any hooligan stuff 😂
😂😂😂
She'd need a Rocket 3 for that
lol. Thanks for yet another winner!
Triples are so cool! THAT SOUND!
Unless mom is sitting on the back.......
I would describe it as a roadster not a classic or a sports bike. Seems a good all round package.
If I keep watching I will end up buying a big brother for my little Spade150I , the Street twin would fit perfectly.
I was at the Triumph dealer in Douglasville GA this afternoon. So many nice bikes. Is there a Triumph dealer closer? I live in Cumming.
Used to have one at Lake Lannier (hourly glass) , but they were closed permenantly
I bought a T100 at Doughlasville yesterday
That’s the closest one to me too - about an hours drive 😭
New Triumph dealer opening in Roswell next month!
Future Doodle for the win.
Very Clever video!! Love it.
Could you check out the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 also!
Try the Speed Twin. It's actually 2 lbs. lighter that a Street Twin.
I’d be interested to see what she thinks of the Speed Twin, especially since she’s such a fan of the Thruxton.
The Speed Twin is also the most gorgeous motorcycle available for sale at this time. That's why I bought one.

Thanks for answering SC, Art!
I read that they have reliability issues. For a long term bike I went with a VFR800 but that bike is a little tall even for 5'11".
Triumph scrambler is nice looking bike.
There is! I can make it happen in the next review 😋

Sweet!
Do you have a video on the Triumph scrambler or the Ducati scrambler?
I definitely likes the looks of this bike way better! It's such a sharp look (modern but retro) look.. A+++
Me too!!!
Future Doodle is so cute!! 🤗
Booked my trident! Quick query..is the matte color better to go for or the gloss variants? Can matt be wrapped to protect paint? Pretty confused here!
Wow. 31.7" seat height is quite high for short people. Your 31inch inseam is quit long for someone under 5'5". I've shrunk to 5'4" since entering into my 60s, and with an inseam of 29" I need really low rider bikes or platform boots...🤭👍🏼
You just need some short rider tricks and you'll be golden!!
Thanks for the review.
great videos, realy like it, midrange is great all around bikes. I think
How did you obtain this bike for testing? Press bike, lent by a dealer, rented from Riders Share, etc?
Press bike on loan from Triumph
Good review, Doodle, albeit "smooth" is for used car sales persons! Once again, Future Doodle was a star!
If you’ve ridden a Triumph you wouldn’t think so!
